This book captivates you from page one. You start the mystery of trying to piece everything together before the ending and the suspense hooks you until you finish the book in one sitting

SO COMPULSIVE I read it in one sitting!

I am sure the airline industry is THRILLED that just when it’s customers are returning to the skies, we have not ONE but THREE flights getting hijacked this SUMMER!

So, which one should you book a seat on?

Well, I have read TWO out of the THREE, so far, and BOTH flights have been worth reading about!
Action packed-but different enough from one another that you couldn’t possibly grow bored!

Pacific Air flight 385, a 737 from Seattle to Honolulu with 143 souls onboard has been hijacked.

Six people are dead including the pilots, and several flight attendants, the flight has no WI-FI, and the motive for the hi jacking remains a mystery.

When the only other person onboard, with flying experience becomes incapacitated, the passengers have to rely on a Pilot’s daughter, who has had some flying lessons, and a Seattle Homicide detective to save their lives.

And, they have veered so off course, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, that they cannot even be located on radar!

This thriller is FAST paced, and meticulously researched.

Author Audrey Cole, an RN and writer of six crime thrillers set in Seattle, gets the details of flying, and Inflight cabin procedures MOSTLY right, with just a few tweaks used to propel the plot forward and as a 25+ year flight attendant, myself...I know.

You may want to locate your life vest, and pay attention to your flight attendant’s safety briefing the next time you fly! 👩🏻‍✈️

You know, just in case!

Expected publication date is June 22, 2021 by Rainier Publishing.

Thank You for the gifted ARC provided through NetGalley …it was my pleasure to provide a candid review!

A flight to paradise is hijacked. The pilots are shot dead. Is there anyone now onboard who can fly and then land this plane. This is the plot of The Pilot’s Daughter and it delivers both suspense and fear in equal measure. Not until the very end does the reader know if anyone will survive. 5-Stars. I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions expressed are my own. #ThePilotsDaughter #NetGalley

If you are looking for something to read on a long flight, don’t pick up this book. If both your feet are on land, settle down in a comfortable chair and read The Pilot’s Daughter. You won’t be able to put it down!

Cora is the pilot’s daughter. A nurse, she’s a widowed mother of two small children on a trip to accept an award in honor of her late husband. Her seatmate is Kyle, a Seattle homicide detective on his way to Honolulu to make an arrest. Hours into the flight, both pilots are dead and two hijackers have been killed. How many hijackers are on the plane? How did they smuggle weapons onto the plane? Is a first class passenger, the girlfriend of a pharmaceutical billionaire, a target? And, the most important question… who will land the plane?

Part mystery, part romance and 100% thriller, Lost Souls is unputdownable. The plot bounces back and forth between the drama on the plane, the investigation on land, and the actions of characters before and during the hijacking. It’s a gripping, tense and compelling read. If I ever get on a plane again, I want to be next to Cora! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Audrey J. Cole for this ARC.

This was a fast-paced thriller that I quickly devoured over the past day. The alternating plotlines kept the story moving and allowed the different plotlines to not drag along. We have the story of the titular pilot's daughter who is a recent widow traveling to Samoa via Hawaii to accept an award for her late husband. An airline cleaning crew member forced to participate in a dangerous act. The wife of a millionaire trying to visit Hawaii to see her niece. That pharmaceutical CEO millionaire forced to reckon with his past mistakes. A detective on the flight heading to Hawaii to apprehend a criminal. A flight attendant placed into the chaotic situation of the hijacking. The short chapters alternating between these characters made this a very easy read because you never spent too long in any one story.

While I found the story thrilling, there was a lack of characterization among the large cast that made it harder to engage emotionally with the story. The end of the book dragged a little as a result but I still found myself enjoying the ride. The book does all it needed to do as a thriller which was thrill me. The author did a great job with the research in how airplanes work so that after reading this book, I feel like I have an outside chance of landing a plane (knowing full well that I would panic in the moment and fail).

I will definitely recommend this book if you are in need of a quick and thrilling read.
Thank you to Netgalley for the copy of this book in return for a review.

The book was fast-paced with multiple POVs. The author surprised me with her elaborate knowledge of flight's mechanism. It was interesting.

The multiple POV chapters and cliffhangers they left with them had me wishing I could read more when I was sleepy.

The only thing I wished was if I could engage more with the emotional aspects of the characters. But it didn't happen.

If you are looking for a quick-paced thriller. Go for it. It's a great read.

Brace yourself for this fast paced novel. Cora, a former nurse is on board a flight from Seattle to Honululu to go to a commendation ceremony for her late husband. Asha, a cleaner for the airline is contacted by terrorists and her family in Somalia are threatened with death if she doesn't carry out their demands. Once on board, it's hard to know who to trust.
The author has written a great novel and is very informative about flight procedures.
Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own

This was so much fun to read. Hijackers aboard the plane, a Pilot’s daughter and Detective working together in tandem to help until the pilots were shot and it was all upto the Pilot’s daughter Cora to land the plane. In water!!

My first book by author Audrey Cole, I enjoyed the thrill in the plotline. After the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines, I find myself eager to read every book with the airplane 🛬 setting. Audrey’s writing kept me at the edge of the seat as twists appeared out of nowhere, and also a couple of sharks. 🦈

It wasn’t a complex plotline, quite a straightforward one. At 200 odd pages, the story kept ramping up the danger with enough authenticity that it felt as if a movie was being played in front of me.

Fast paced with interesting main characters and hijackers with guns on a plane rapidly nose-diving, this was one thrilling ride.

Suspense In The Skies...
Cora, a young widow, is reluctantly on a non stop flight from Seattle to Honolulu when the unthinkable happens. A hijack. With several people already dead, including the pilots, chaos ensues. Cora happens to be a pilot’s daughter but who can she trust on this plane? Well researched suspense in the skies with a credible cast of characters and a fast paced, exciting storyline. A tense page turner.

Revenge is the aim of the game in this action packed thriller. From chapter one, I was completely hooked. There were so many twists and turns from beginning to end that I did not want to put this down. It definitely got me out of my book rut.

Flight 385 is on route to Honolulu when it is hijacked by two armed assailants. Just when you think you know where this story is heading, think again. The hijacking is but a small detail in what was an intricately woven web of panic, suspicion and revenge. When I finally felt some small relief towards the end of the book, the fear sky rocketed once again. Did anyone else hear Jaws music? The ending was satisfying but left me with one major unanswered question. However, I enjoyed this book so much I'm willing to overlook it. One last thing; what the hell is Australia Air? We have quite a few real airlines, why make one up?

Highly recommended. I will be raiding the authors back catalogue immediately.

Huge thanks to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for my free ARC. My Goodreads review contains some additional hidden spoilers.

The Pilot’s Daughter by Audrey Cole

Oh, this was good! The synopsis first caught my eye because a flight from Seattle to Honolulu has been hijacked – and I’ve been on that flight a few times! Plus, living in Hawaii it has run through my mind a few times while flying that if something happens we’d have to make a water landing. Aack!

The terrorists are able to blackmail an airplane cleaner to hide a gun on the plane. The two hijackers kill people onboard as they attempt to take over the plane – including the pilots. A flight attendant with some flying experience takes over the controls. But, something isn’t quite right? Are there other terrorists on the plane? Who is their target on the plane? Will the passengers survive or will the plane crash into the Pacific Ocean.

Oh, I could not put this down and I’m kicking myself for waiting almost a week before starting it.

RECOMMEND

I haven't been on an airplane in two years, and now when I'm planning to go somewhere, I had to read this turbulent tale of hijacking, murder, and mayhem? What was I thinking? I guess that I wanted a heart-pounding, tension-filled story to get me revved up, that's what, and that's just what I got!

Pacific Air Flight 385 takes off from Seattle to Hawaii with 143 souls on board who have no idea what is about to occur. Well, the three hijackers know.

Make sure you are wearing your seatbelt because you will get whiplash from this fast-paced, action-packed thriller. It's a fast read that will make your head spin.

From multiple viewpoints, this story is told from Cora, a young widow flying for the first time to honor her late husband's philanthropic work, to Kyle a capable homicide detective going to Hawaii to catch a culprit. The female airline cleaner risks everything to save her family in Somali and Mila, the flight attendant with flying skills who may have ties to the hijackers. And the spoiled billionaire's girlfriend, pregnant and flying to Hawaii, is she why the plane is being hijacked, or is it her boyfriend, the narcissistic billionaire who cares more about his company than anything else? These people all have interesting stories to tell, and I wish the book had been a little longer to learn more about them.

As soon as the hijacking ensues, a lot of shooting occurs on the plane resulting in the pilots' and the hijackers' deaths. Cora is a nurse, so she busies herself helping wounded passengers, and then they need someone to land the plane. It turns out her father was a pilot, and she also had some flight training, so off to the cockpit she goes. She is a handy girl to have around!

Have your life vest ready because you are going to need it! I initially thought I would give this book three stars, but because I couldn't put it down and because of the non-stop edge-of-your-seat action, especially towards the end, I gave it four stars. This flight was indeed a thrilling trip! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review. Be sure to book your seat on June 22, 2021.

This was an enjoyable beach read, light and quite predictable. It moved along at a quick pace and the characters were easy to follow and likable.

This was a fast-paced read that hooked me in from the start. The only downside were a couple of misplaced romances, and the fact that I felt I really didn't know the main characters as well as I should have. I felt slightly indifferent about them which could have simply been because I was devouring this book. I loved it and highly recommend!

Nothing bad I can say about this book! Action packed from beginning to end. It covered more in the first ten pages than it would normally take for half a novel! I was hooked from there beginning and the tension doesn't let up. A satisfying conclusion too. Grab this book -but maybe not while you are on a plane...

This is a great combination of a thrilling plot with an angst ridden character who you can’t help but empathise with. Lots to keep track of and enough to make you think twice about your next flight!

I read this book over two days because I couldn’t put it down. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could and definitely recommend reading it when it comes out on June 22nd. This is the third excellent airline flight-related book I’ve read in the past year along with The Last Flight and Falling. This is the story of Flight 385, a Seattle to Honolulu flight that gets hijacked. The main characters onboard the plane are Alana - the girlfriend of a famous billionaire businessman, Cora (the daughter of an airline pilot) who is flying to honor her husband who was killed in a helicopter accident, and Seattle homicide detective Kyle who is seated next to Cora. Audrey J. Cole’s writing is easy to read and draws you in from the beginning of the book. Thanks to #netgalley and #rainierpublishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review #ThePilotsDaughter

Absolutely gripping thriller, could not put it down!
I found myself thinking about this book and wanting to get back to it when I wasnt reading, I really loved the writing style, and the scenes on board the aircraft made my heart race! No spoilers but I kept forgetting to breathe, the story is so well written, so tense and very scary, one of the best thrillers Ive read in a long time.
I also loved the character development, and I really became invested in their outcomes.
Never thought I would say it, but Go Alana!
Fabulous read, exciting and heart racing, I will seek to read more from this excellent author.

I was lucky to receive a copy of The Pilots Daughter by Audrey Cole from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinions. The Pilot's Daughter is an exciting, action-packed thriller full of twists and turns. This is the 2nd airplane-based thriller I've read this year and this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will be thanking your lucky stars you are NOT on this flight! This book is amazing and very well written. I read it all in one sitting - it's that good!

The Pilot's Daughter is an exciting, really good action-packed thriller about a jet being hijacked. While many of us fly we rarely think the events in this story could happen to us. I really enjoyed this book and am interested in reading others by Audrey J Cole. This is a must read for all.
.
The story begins with Asha, a member of the cleaning crew for the airlines, receiving a threat against her extended family in Somalia. She is to go to a designated place pick up a package and hide it on Flight #385 as directed. Rarely does anyone do what they should do by calling the police and or the FBI. So she does as she is told although things don't go smoothly but she manages to get what she now knows as a gun on the jet.

Next up is Cora, a nurse on the flight and also a pilot's daughter, who will have to step up and save the people on board from the terrorists. She will befriend Kyle a Detective on the flight and together they will have to decide who they can trust to help them land safely. This book has many twists and is thoroughly a thrill a minute as these passengers face adversity.

After reading this, I learned a little bit more about flying and am glad that I book my seat closer to the front than the back.

I was granted an advanced copy of this text by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Not quite sure I decided to read this book before I take a trip on a plane this summer, but oh well! This was a thrilling ride that I read incredibly quickly. Very gripping and trigger warnings galore for those that dislike planes or will be flying shortly. Cole does a great job pulling in the reader and I look forward to her next book.

Take a flight, put some people on it who have managed to smuggle on guns via a cleaner who had a terror group in Somalia sending videos of her family being murdered and more to come if she didn’t comply, add a billionaires girlfriend to the passenger list and you have a full on action thriller
Then add a reluctant traveller, a Pilot’s daughter and you don’t need me to tell you where this is going
And it goes there well
The tenseness of the beginning chapter last’s right through to the epilogue and it’s one of those that are playing in your mind’s eye as it goes
If you like disaster scenarios, with added oomph and surprises then you can’t not enjoy every page
Written well and although tekkie info given re the plane it was explained so a novice reader could understand and follow it
Thoroughly believable dialogue and scenarios and chillingly ‘I can just imagine’ bits where you think to when you have been on a plane
Great read

10/10
5 Stars

This was a very suspenseful and engaging book! It’s fast pace and suspenseful events kept me on the edge of my seat. It was nearly impossible to stop reading once I started! I highly recommend it (although maybe not for anyone while they are actually flying on an airplane, yikes!)

The Pilot's Daughter is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Cora is scared to fly after her husband died in a helicopter crash however, she must go to receive the award that he was given for all of his charity work. She is a young mother and an emergency room nurse but she is also a pilots daughter. She has taken lessons to become a pilot and she has also been in a flight simulator. several times. As Cora is seated in the first class section of the plane, she notices the girlfriend of a famous billionaire pharmaceutical entrepreneur across the aisle,

The man seated next to Cora is a Seattle Homicide Detective. Halfway across the Pacific on the way to Honolulu, the flight is hijacked. Six people are dead including both pilots. They are lost off the radar in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean and the motive for the hijacking remains a mystery. Cora and the Detective try to save themselves and the remaining 154 people on board. I highly recommend this book.

I decided to read this book because my husband is a pilot of small airplanes. He does it fir his own personal enjoyment. I on the other hand prefer the larger planes even if there is a chance for crashes or hijackings.
I was leery of this book because we all have read our share of hijacked airplanes and people being heroes. The author Audrey J. Cole gets my bows because she kept me glued to the words and I did not skip paragraphs because I was bored. The book was suspenseful and kept you on the brink of what is coming next and that is what you want from me as a reader anyways!
The characters are strong from Cora who is taken out of her grief and thrown into hades by trying to first nurse sick passengers and then to pilot a plane when she has never even soloed!
Kyle is a Homicide detective who ends up being a sidekick, but he is so much more because he has to try and save the day but these are not your typical hijackers.

Awesome book, definitely recommend

The Pilot's Daughter by Audrey J. Cole is action packed from start to finish! I'm kind of nervous to fly myself so this story about a hijacking made it even more suspenseful for me. Great character development and very exciting to see what everyone involved ends up doing under such a stressful situation that was supposed to be a flight to paradise in Hawaii! Highly recommend this book - you will not be disappointed!

This book was amazing. Totally gripped from the very first pages. I read it like I watch a movie, it was a non stop thrilling ride.
I can't find a single negative thing to say about this book, everything is great : short chapters, brave characters, plot twists and a never-ending suspense.

What I really loved in this book is that we don't get tangled up in endless descriptions, there is no slow moment, it's the perfect book for anyone who find themselves in a reading slump.

I loved this book! from the very beginning to the end it was full of action! A real page turner, it continued! Fear, loss and a good old fashioned horror story and of course REVENGE! My Kind of book!

Airline disasters/hijacking seems to having a moment this summer and this one is a thriller with a side of romance.

Mid-way to Honolulu a flight is hijacked, and the bullets fly, killing several people, including the pilots. Among the passengers is Cora, flying for the first time since her husband’s death in a helicopter crash, Kyle, a homicide detective on his way to (catch a criminal?), and of course the hijackers. The short chapters and multiple POV from those both in the air and on the ground kept the pages turning.

Given the title it’s no secret how this will end and what will be required of one of the passengers, the pilot’s daughter. Fast-paced and full of intrigue and action this is a prime example of a popcorn thriller. The reader doesn’t know who to trust or how all the backstories will come into play until the final thrilling chapters. Sure, some things are unlikely to happen, but you don’t read this type of book looking for realism. My other quibble was the romance that developed on the plane in the midst of the crisis. But if you’re looking for a one-sitting thriller to devour at the beach or poolside, this would fit the bill nicely.

This book certainly won't help with my fear of flying but even if I didn't have the fear my heart would still be pounding. This was such an exhilarating book!

This was a very surprising read. I wasn't expecting to be drawn into the story so much. The author sketches a nailbiting scenario and you can't help but stay fixed to the pages. The author's writing makes me more curious to investigate more of her books too.

This mystery/romance/thriller hit it out of the park!. Fast paced, entertaining and an all round good read, full of suspense and well researched. I really enjoyed it. It felt like I was watching a movie, it was continuous suspense.

This book was a very fun and entertaining read. It was fast-paced, dramatic and very atmospheric. I devoured it in only two days and that too, on a family vacation lol 💃
It grips you from the very beginning and makes you desperate to reach the end to find out what's happening.

There's not much to dislike, except for the writing style. I felt that it was too simple and lacked some basic elaboration. And the events occurring in the book seem really forced and far-fetched. You know, like in the movies and stuff. It's really difficult to relate to all the situations.

Nevertheless, it was a quick and easy read and if you're looking for a tense, fast-paced thriller guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further!

Cora's father dreamed of teaching her to fly. She took flying lessons and her father taught her to fly a passenger jet in a simulator. But ultimately she wanted to become a nurse and now works in a busy Seattle ER. Her husband died over a year ago in a helicopter crash while doing humanitarian work in Hawaii, and since his death she has been afraid to get on a plane. She's second guessed her decision so many times, afraid to leave her young children orphaned. But there is a ceremony in Hawaii celebrating her husband's work and she is requested to receive his award. She boards Pacific Air Flight 385, flying first class, sitting next to a handsome stranger, Kyle Adams, who, as a homicide detective, is a last minute addition to the flight to follow a lead in a case. But halfway through the flight, the plane is hijacked and six people are dead including the pilots. With no way to know how many hijackers there are, everyone becomes suspect and Cora has to attempt to save herself and the 154 other souls on the flight with only the help of a nearby pilot to coach her.
This book had plenty of action in it to keep me hooked, I felt like the romantic element between Cora and Kyle wasn't really necessary. But the story didn't really spend much focus on the attraction, so it didn't distract from the hijacking plot that much. I love the way that Alanna got revenge in the end and got her own happily ever after.
I received a complimentary advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Don’t read this before going on a flight — which is exactly what I did.

This was one of my favorite reads in 2021 when I first read it. It’s the perfect thriller that keeps you on your toes because it’s so relatable—almost everyone travels via a plane once in their life. Everyone always wonders if something could happen to them but usually brush it off.

Cora has had the worst luck when it comes to air travel and the people she loves, so why would her fate be any different than them? Great face paced read.
