"“I read it and the kids did too. We all loved it!! It’s funny and gentle and ingenious. The illustrations are so beautiful!!! Something very refreshing and uplifting considering the horror surreal stuff we read these days and listen to on the news. A very precious little gem. Thank you so much for sharing a ray of hope and a glimpse of sanity in our mad house!!”

“I downloaded Olive & Ginger to my kindle app. I have read it myself and to my students. It is a MUST have for a teachers shelf. Besides the cute meat of characters, the book has teachable moments that give way for open ended questions in a classroom discussion. It is a beautiful story of friendship with the unlikeliest of characters BUT isn’t that a reality we live too? Totally relatable and cute! My students loved the book! It’s downloaded on the app on all three of our classroom tablets for them to read anytime. Thank you to the author! This is a great one!!”

“Loved the impactful lessons about learning to love differences between people (oops animals). Read it with my husband and we enjoyed the chapters. He asked me where is the next Olive & Ginger book.”

“Simple yet thoughtful stories that bring a smile to your face, combined with gorgeous illustrations. A lovely book that can be shared with both young and older children”"

Olive and Ginger are a toad and a cat that meet and become friends. Or rather, the cat meets the toad and expresses his interest to be the toad’s friend. The duo meets and talks about singing, humans, seasons, etc.
The book is divided into three chapters; teeny ones, each dealing with a different scene/ episode. The illustrations are cute but don’t take away from the story. That’s because the book has been formatted to highlight text and illustrations side by side.
The singing episode was fun to read. Overall, it is a cute little book for kiddos. Though I’m not sure if a 5+ kid can read such a long opening sentence and make sense of it in one go. It’d work better if the book was read out to the kids (I guess that’s the intention too).

Lovely little story with super cute illustrations :)
The story got my daughter asking questions about the animals and why cats eat mice, and toads dragonflies etc.

Olive and Ginger is a cute little book about a cat and a toad becoming friends and spending time together.

That's it, that's the plot.
But hear me out.
This book was actually fantastic.

The stories were lovely, funny and they did a good job at depicting the friendhsip between two animals, the interest they developed towards each other's lives and their way of thinking, in the sense that at times it makes you think that maybe, just maybe, sometimes animals do try to come up with ideas that, to them, will explain what we, humans do and why. Which, judging by how my cat stares at me every time I talk, I can guarantee that it's true.

Another thing I would like to mention, is the illustrations that are out of this damn world and you can tell that they were made with watercolor and most likely by hand. It reminds me of some of the books I used to read as a child, it really gives it some old school value and its own unique beauty.

In my opinion, this is a book that kids will definitely love, and I think that adults will enjoy it too. It has it all, cute characters, story and illustrations and I think that it will also spark the need to explore nature and meet new animal friends as well!

Olive and Ginger is an adorable story about Olive the toad and Ginger the Cat. Reading this was therapeutic, and I can see how it'll help children to accept and love all the differences we have, as well as animals.

Olive and Ginger is a longer children's book about a Toad and a Cat who become friends. This book is wordier than the average childr na books, but it is divided into three story's which made it easy to read in sections with my LO who wasn't quite ready to sit through the entire book.

Cute story of an unlikely friendship between a cat and a toad. That is about it, but I like the way they sang for each other and each thought the other's voice needed some work to improve their singing! Littles will appreciate the silliness of that if they know what frogs or toads sound like! I loved the illustrations, so sweet!

This is the story of Olive and Ginger, a Toad and a Cat who meets and becomes friends. These two friends totally different from each other in every aspect talks about their interests, singing, about humans, seasons etc.

The stories are very interesting and funny especially the second story was humorous. I liked the inner conversations of both Toad and the Cat and what they thought about each other yet decided to remain silent so as not to hurt each other's feelings.

The illustrations were amazing and it attracts children very well. The writing, characters and story are so good that not just kids, the adults will love this book too. I recommend it to everyone to give it a read once.

Thanks Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for my honest review.

What a cute story! Olive and Ginger is a cute story about a frog and cat who become friends. It has beautiful illustrations to go with the story and my 3 year old great grand daughter loved it. Thank you BooksGoSocial via NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I love the illustrations so much!

It seems like a good dream. A story about acquaintances, a story of curiosity and knowledge.

I love how the story focuses on the appreciation of one being by another. The world is such a beautiful place it tells us. The story is fun to read. The characters are quite outspoken and lively. The toad and the cat are fun to learn with.

I feel the storybook can be much better if the lines and the fonts are bigger and more distinct.

Thank you, authors and the publisher, for the advance reading copy.

A great little early chapter book, still with plenty of beautiful illustrations. Perfect for those wanting a little lengthier read. My daughter is a real cat lover so enjoyed this book very much. It's a gentle story telling of friendship which could easily be used to discuss habitats and food life cycles in a delicate way.

This was a cute story of a toad and cat befriending each other, having adventures, and telling stories of their time away from each other. I loved the concept and illustrations were very pretty. The description gives them names but they aren’t used much in the story rather frequently being called Cat and Toad instead. I would say this is great for ages 2-5. Thank you to Xenia Mesot for the first of many books I hope with these cute characters and thank you BooksGoSocial for the arc.

Olive and Ginger are Toad and Cat in this delightful book. Three stories are told, in an old-fashioned, fable style, of the Cat and the Toad figuring out the world together. The first story, "Acquaintance" offers introductions and explores the framework of the relationship of one to another through Toad's experience. The second story, "Duet" is all about kindness, and the third "Fresh Eye" is all about looking a situations through a differing perspective.

The artwork in Olive and Ginger is stunning, from the fluid motion of Cat to the little details scattered throughout: the plants and the butterflies.

There is a real "old world" charm to this book, and I hope to see more stories of wise Toad and kind Cat.

~~Many thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.~~

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the ACR in exchange for my honest review.

Okay, this story is so cute and I love the illustrations. The illustrations are watercolored! You can tell so much time went into this. The frog and the cat become friends so heartwarming. This is a book that you can read to your kids or students it is great because the pictures really pull you in. If you have an older kid they can try reading on their own since it does have a lot of words!

I read this book by myself as well as with my children. The illustrations are beautiful and they kept my youngest engaged with the colours and the detail. I loved the story and the teachable moments throughout the book. I can definitely see this becoming a children’s series with Olive and Ginger teaching our children more about the world and the situations we may find ourselves in.
Thank you to the Publisher, Netgalley and the author for a gorgeous book that I will read over and over with my children.

I think this book could be accurately renamed "Cat and Toad Muse About the World." This book really reminded me an advanced version of Frog and Toad. The humor was a little subtle/advanced for my 5yo, but I think he got it when I explained it to him. Overall I thought the stories were clever and we enjoyed the lovely illustrations, but I was a little surprised that Olive and Ginger never actually do a whole lot. Mostly, they just talk about smells, singing, and water from their very different perspectives. Which was cute, but I felt like it was just missing a little something. My 5yo said he enjoyed it, and I'd still recommend for anyone looking for a cute, clever story for ages 5-7.

Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for the free ARC!

Princess Fuzzypants here: I may be accused, as a Maine Coon, of bias for books with cat characters but I am also a very discerning kitty. So when I say be prepared to fall in love with this book, I mean it. It is the tale of two very unlikely friends, Ginger the cat and Olive the toad. When they first meet Olive is alarmed by Ginger but as they start to chat they form a bond. It is not so much a bond built on similarities but the similar reactions to the different influences in their lives.

They learn that they can share and care in spite of how they perceive the world around them. Humans could learn much from these two very different species. The dialogues they have are delightful but they are secondary to the adorable pictures that highlight the story. It is a book that could be shared and enjoyed by the young and the young at heart.

Five purrs and two paws up.

This is one of the most beautifully illustrated and written children's books I have ever read. It will entertain anyone of any age, especially animal lovers, and I am planning on gifting a copy to all of the children in my life this Christmas, as well as purchasing a copy for my own collection. I hope these two will appear again and become a long-running series. Highly recommended!

This is a delightful and surprisingly funny children’s book about a heart-warming friendship between Cat and Toad. The writing is poetic and I love the illustrations. It’s an endearing book and I would highly recommend it for all ages to read together. I picked up this book because it looked cute and fun, but I truly enjoyed it on a deeper level. I already want to read it all over again!

I was provided a free copy of this book by Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review.

Love the artwork and the cute stories of friendship. I wish the stories were a bit longer but, all in all, a wonderful book for any day of the week.

Thanks NetGalley

A story about an unlikely friendship between a cat and a toad. Heart-warming and funny, it shows us how different we all are, and how we can accept each other, if only we are tolerant and understanding of our differences.

Cat and toad sing together, and they make a pretty good duo. I loved how at the end the author added the part about cats and baths. It was really funny but also educational.

This was a cute set of stories between a cat and a toad, though their names are never really spelled out throughout the story, just Toad and Cat, so the title doesn't quite make sense. There are several smaller stories throughout the book between these two and I think it would lovely to read on paper!

This book about a friendship between a cat and a toad is a great book for kids and parents alike. Showing that friendship comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. That even if your different you can still be friends.

Olive and Ginger is a gentle reminder of how animals (and people) are different.
I’ve read this a couple times to our 5 year old granddaughter Sarah since I received the book yesterday.
She absorbs a different aspect of it each time. The art is done nicely, but it isn’t really interesting to either of us, unless Cat or Toad is in it.

I really loved this book and the illustrations were really cute! I loved the story and I really think kids of all ages will too.

A very cute, heartfelt children's book I hope to buy for my future neice. The duo of a cat and a toad was perfect. but the sentences can be a little long for younger ones. However, the challenge will be helpful in the long run for younger children first learning to read. A great addition to a children's shelf.

This was a cute book. It feels more in the realms of an Aesop's Fables as opposed to a light hearted children's book. However, I loved the interactions between Toad and Cat. It's very simple and easy to read. It's charming to see inside the animals' heads. I think a child would be absolutely mesmerized trying to think like a toad or cat. Fun read!

Olive and Ginger is a delightful group of fairy tales put together in one children's book. The stories are fresh and new but feature standard themes including lessons being taught. The illustrations in this book are stunning! This book would appeal to various ages, but would mainly be for younger elementary age. Thank you to Netgalley for this free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
