Description
Patrick’s tights are smooth and stretchy, purple and polka-dotty, and absolutely perfect for pretend play. But Patrick’s tights aren’t his at all. They belong to his sister, Penelope, who does NOT deserve them. Author Kristen McCurry proves that a pair of tights and a little imagination can provide endless fun in this charming picture book about a boy’s creativity.

A beautifully illustrated book, I loved the story and it’s a great story to share, as well as encouraging individuality and freedom of expression, it also encourages sharing and compromise. Simply wonderful story and the colours are so engaging, I want a pair of those polka dot tights !

Today's featured book is 'Patrick's Polka Dot Tights' by Kristen McCurry. Here is what we thought...
Bella: 10/10
It has a great meaning. I like the whole story. I can't choose my
favourite bit. I can't wait till it comes out, I would love to read it again!
Charlotte: 8/10
I really enjoyed reading this with Bella, it's a really different book following Patrick and his love for his perfect polka dot tights. It challenges gender stereotypes, subtly weaving acceptance of being who you are throughout, it was interesting reading with such a young child. The simple illustrations are beautiful and compliment the text, MacKenzie Hayley does a wonderful job. Overall, I think is a fun book to have on your child's bookshelf.

This is brilliant! A story to champion imaginative play & defy gender stereotyping in young children.
Patrick's play is wild & free... apart from the times when his sister wants her tights back.
Lively pics & a tenderly-told story.
