Karen M. Wicks holds a doctorate from New York University and has taught in middle and high school and at the college level. She has served as director for curriculum and instructional development at the College Board. She and her husband Les co-founded a supplemental education company and the K-12 public school, Royal Live Oaks Academy of the Arts & Sciences Charter School, in South Carolina, where Karen has been the Executive Director/CEO since 2012. I really like this book I thought it was an original story about a rich person trying to find their way. I found it entertaining and transfixing at the same time.

This is my first by this author. I found her to sharp and witty and an excellent story teller.

It's a story of power and maintaining that power. It slips back and forth kind of like a reminder, of how your past can and does affect your future.

The family as a whole has an obsession with power. They want more and more.

It is a well written story. I really enjoyed it. It is a strong gritty story of family and power. And yes it hit the spot.
