I want this book!! It is gorgeous with loads of facts about plants, it is suitable for UKS2 - which is perfect for our new science topics that have been put into the curriculum. As science lead for our primary school, I'd recommend it for teachers and students alike. - wow!!

When Plants Took Over the Planet is a fascinating and informative guide that explains how our planet evolved over billions of years to become swarmed with plant life. Starting right back at the beginning it discusses historical periods, fossil forests, microorganisms, algae, seaweed and the plant life that begun in swamps and waterways before it ever crept onto and conquered land. It talks about the oldest plants on earth and continues through them in chronological order showing exactly when they initially appeared on earth. Filled with tidbits of interesting information on each plant species, there is a lot to learn here and the vivid, full-colour illustrations complement the text magnificently. If you would like to know more about how plant life evolved from the first known plants on earth right through to present day, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

A lovely book, full of beautiful imagery. It takes you on a journey learning about the ways in which plants began to emerge in different forms. Explores a range of different plants, giving interesting information about each one. This book is perfect for the child (or adult) who is fascinated by plants and wants to know more. It also explore topics such as plants that are in danger, extinction, why plants are important and how you could plant a fossil forest at home. 4 stars
