Description

BOOK TWO PRECIOUS CATASTROPHE, COMING 30th SEPTEMBER

PLEASE NOTE THIS A SAMPLER, NOT THE FULL BOOK

Twin sisters. An isolated community. Generations of dark secrets...

Madeline and Catlin move to Ballyfrann, a strange isolated Irish town, a place where the earth is littered with small corpses and unspoken truths. A place where, for generations, teenage girls have gone missing in the surrounding mountains.

Distance grows between the twins - as Catlin falls in love, and as Madeline begins to understand her own nascent witchcraft.

But when Catlin falls into the gravest danger of all, Madeline discovers that Ballyfrann is a place full of predators. Madeline must ask herself who she really is - or rather, who she might have to become to save her sister.

A Note From the Publisher

A novel with a brilliantly poised mix of dark and light, humour and gravitas, supernatural and the ordinary. A story with timely feminist themes and message - there is a call in this novel to those girls who are forgotten, whose deaths could have been prevented; and a study of the ways in which girls are vulnerable and ignored

For readers who love lyrical, dark stories with a fantastical edge - perfect for fans of Moira Fowley Doyle, Peadar O' Guilin, Frances Hardinge, Laure Eve, Leigh Bardugo, and Louise O'Neill's The Surface Breaks.

Two teenage sisters move with their mum and step dad, into a castle within a forest in Ireland, built by an old eccentric dude, in an area where the bodies of dismembered teenage girls have been found...I think I just found my Halloween read! This book sounds creepy as heck, in the best way, thank you for the sample. Even from just the first chapter it's clear that Deirdre Sullivan is a beautifully skilled and clever writer, I honestly can't wait to read the whole book now.

A great sampler that made me wish to read the book soon. Good storytelling and world building.
Highly recommended.

Really enjoyable opening section with strong sense of place and characters. Keen to read more as the world being set up seems fascinating and potentially quite dark.

We are thrown straight into the story in this sampler. Sullivan uses short and jarring sentences to create a sense of unease. The atmosphere of the place and people are set up well to make the spooky vibes of the novel to come. There's a small sense of confusion in the prologue bit that sort of adds tk the unease as we don't know what we are in for. Looking forward to reading the full novel.
