Will helping the war effort help mend her broken heart?

September 1939. London is in blackout, war has been declared, but Dulcie Treadwell can think only of American broadcaster, Glenn Reeves, who didn’t say goodbye before leaving for Berlin.

Heartbroken, Dulcie is posted to Bletchley Park, where she must concentrate instead on cracking the German Enigma codes. The hours are long and the conditions tough, with little recognition from above. Until she breaks her first code…

But when a spiteful act of jealousy leads to Dulcie’s brutal dismissal, her life is left in pieces once more. Is it too late for Dulcie to prove her innocence and keep the job she loves? And will her heart ever truly heal if she doesn’t hear from Glenn again…?

A new, inspiring wartime series set at Bletchley Park from saga queen Molly Green, perfect for fans of Nancy Revell and Donna Douglas.

I listened to this book on audio, my first audio book. I really loved it, what a lovely informative novel, with lots of romance. This is book 1 and really looking forward to the next book in the series. Highly recommended read

I listened to this book during Easter vacation, whilst relaxing on a sun lounger. It was just perfect! Dulcie meets the handsome Glenn on a bridge at the very start of the war. She is besotted with him, but he disappears and she is unable to contact him. Like all young women at that time she wanted to make a positive contribution towards the war effort. She finds herself working at "the park", through the Battle of Britain and the course of the war.

The novel is well crafted and well paced, for me it was an ideal holiday listen.

I received a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

“Summer Secrets at Bletchley Park” by Molly Green is one of those sweet WWII romance books that makes me fall in love with wartime sweethearts and grows one’s appetite to read more similar stories. Luckily for me, this is announced to be part of a book series, so I might not wait too long for book 2 to be released.

The book follows the story of Dale (Dale) Tredwell, an aspiring journalist who lives in London, just as the UK enters WWII. While observing the first of many blackouts across London, she meets Glenn, an American broadcaster currently stationed in the UK. After a short time together, Glenn is sent as an observer to Germany, while Dale wins a “crossword” competition and becomes part of the German-speaking team deciphering codes from Bletchley Park.

While the pace of the story might be slower or faster at times, the storytelling format and descriptions of the events lived by the main characters is an absolute delight to read or listen to. In the audiobook format, the accents of the characters are also very well nuanced so as to reflect their origin, social status, and their current state of emotion which makes the listening even more of a delight!

The book is coming out on 4th May 2022, so make sure you put it on your TBR to enjoy this wonderful story. I can't wait to hear what comes next!

Special thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK Audio, Avon, and the editorial team for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC in audiobook format and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

I listened to this as an audio book and felt the narrators really helped bring the story to life. I particularly enjoyed the narration. The narrator narrated the book beautifully, and I loved the depictions of the different characters.

Set during WWII we meet Dale Tredwell, the glorious main character of ‘Summer secrets at Bletchley Park’. I loved Dale - she is a reporter for a London newspaper and she is a bright and lovable young woman. She meets Glenn, an American with whom she falls in love with but he has to go to Berlin for work. Dale begins working at Bletchley Park, trying to unravel the messages from the Germans after she wins a cross word competition.
I loved this audiobook and I felt completely immersed in Dales world thanks to Mollys writing. Lucy Scott narrates and she breathes life into the whole story Just a wonderful audiobook - easy to listen to but won’t let you go! Thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins for my gifted copy.

This is one for the historical romance fiction fan. It has a cute little romance or two and takes place during WW11.
The story starts in the September of 1939. War has been declared, London is in blackout, and Dulcie Treadwell is suffering from her first broken heart. Dulcie fell quickly for an American broadcaster called Glenn Reeves. After a time together he just leaves without a goodbye.
Soon enough though Dulcie is posted to Bletchley Park where she is going to be helping the war efforts by cracking the German Enigma codes. She has long hours and tough conditions with very little recognition. Then one day she breaks her first code.
Dulcie finds that she is settling well and was born to do this job. However, just as she starts to show her worth, a betrayal leads to her dismissal. Now, she is determined to prove her innocence, all while nursing that nagging broken heart.
This was a good book and definitely one that would be great for historical fiction fans, specifically WW11 fiction.

I really enjoyed listening to this book, which is set in the times of world war 2. Dale, who lives in England, is a journalist, and just as the war starts, she meets Glenn, who is an American reporter. They have a lovely romance which blossoms quickly, but then Glenn is unexpectedly called away to work in Germany, followed by Dale going to work at a top secret mission at Bletchley Park. Will they ever be reunited again?

This is a sweet story, which I found heartwarming and interesting. I thought the audiobook narrator did a great job.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
