I have tried drying flowers with equal successes and failures without any prior knowledge on how to do it correctly. So I was very excited to receive this copy of Modern Dried Flowers from NetGalley and it did not disappoint. Angela Maynard shared her knowledge in depth on the what, which, where and how"s on drying flowers. Every projects were accompanied with a clear step-by-step guide on how to create your own uniquely dreamy and whimsical floral arrangements.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC copy, I can't wait to get the hard copy when it's published.

I have a farm with a lot of land and grow a wide range of plants from cover crop where I grow wheat, oats, herbs and then flowers and vegetables. I harvest a lot of dried wheat, oats, flowers, and even some vegetable flowers and herb seed heads, so consequently, I am ALWAYS looking at books, etc. for inspiration. I am a creative so the ideas flow but there is nothing like finding that gem that inspires. Unfortunately for me, this one fell a little short. It felt flat. Not that it's not beautiful, it is and I follow Angela Maynard on Instagram but I was so rooting for this book and her because I adore her.

But, it did not have the wow factor. I was waiting for pops of color because dried flowers can have color and dry exceptionally well, such as strawflower, bachelor buttons, yarrow, etc. Angelas 'Summer Swag' fell into this category and also her copper mess arrangement is such a great idea, but why lay the flowers flat and not facing out. If I arranged it flat I would put one another row facing the other direction and then a design down the center. Angela also spoke about the "increasingly conscious of the impact of choices on the environment" and how that is another reason dried flowers are increasing in appeal but during the 'Everlasting Corsage,' there was the use of white Ruscus which as environmentalists we are teaching about the harm to the environment with the use of dried bleached flowers such as white Ruscus. But there needed to be more selection of flowers because this felt limiting when there is so much more to use. Dried flowers are growing in appeal right now and it's a very good thing they are because they have so much to offer. I hate putting perfectly beautiful stems in my compost pile so here I am hanging them in my workshop and knowing they have tremendous value. This kind of book is needed. And Angela's cover is beautiful, eye-catching everything I think a book on dried flowers should be but I hope there is a second edition so Angela can add more to this great concept and give it that wow factor and better photography.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this much-needed book.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I don't know much about flower arranging, but found this book to be beautiful. There are some fun ideas on flower arranging and how to make flower crowns or set up a wall display. There's tips on finding the right vase to display flowers. I was hoping for more information on sourcing flowers and how to find them. There's pictures that show step by step how to complete the projects.

Overall a nice find!

I have really enjoyed this book, finding it to be a source of inspiration to channel my creativity in a way I hadn't previously considered!

Advice is given on how to source dried flowers, be it purchasing flowers to create the projects, or foraging for your own.

The main focus of the book I found to be the projects for dried flowers, all of which were utterly stunning and inspiring, but I was also pleased to see that we are talked through the process of drying flowers to make the projects - good for those of us who are inspired to forage!

Overall I found this to be a beautiful book that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Not quite what I was expecting. I would have liked to see more information on drying your own flowers but it was still an interesting read!

This is a really wonderful guide to flower arranging using dried flowers. It contained lots of useful tips and explanations as well as really accessible projects to try. I especially loved the buttonhole one, which looked really simple but effective.

The photography in the book is fantastic. It’s aesthetically pleasing but also really clear making the processes easy to follow.

My favourite part of the book was the guide to dried flowers at the end. It was a really helpful reference for me and has helped me to think of flowers I might grow myself to achieve my desired final look for a dried bouquet.

A great read!

Not only does this book have some absolutely brilliant ideas on what to do with dried flowers, but it also has the basics - tools, how to dry flowers and much more.

Each project includes step by step photographs to help with each process, Maynard also includes what's best for each season.

From Corsages to hand-picked bouquets, wreaths to wall art. This book is perfect for those like me who love flowers and are wanting to pick up a new hobby.
The stunning photographs included will certainly draw you in and the simplicity of the book (without being too basic) will help anyone start this wonderful new hobby.

The visual guide to dried flowers at the end was the cherry on top of this book. A perfect coffee table book, a wonderful gift or just a lovely book on flowers and how we can bring them into out household.
