"Michael Wilton's books are always entertaining, and Death at the Last Chapter certainly fits that pattern. Having enjoyed his delightful romantic comedies, I was looking forward to this murder mystery. And the story delivers on all levels: well written, interesting characters and an intriguing mystery.

As the plot unfolds, the murders mount and the highly sympathetic main character, Robert Bruce, enters a world of unscrupulous people and deceit.

Robert Bruce isn’t a ‘superman’ with amazing detective powers. He’s an ‘everyman’ in many respects and that makes him all the more believable and interesting.

A well-drawn supporting cast add to the all round enjoyment. Also, the red herrings are well placed and greatly enhance the overall puzzle.

Furthermore, it was nice to see that the author had not abandoned his roots and included touches of humour.

The loose ends are skilfully drawn together to produce a satisfying denouement. Highly recommended for lovers of mystery fiction."
