My Sweet Boy

My Sweet Boy is a nice book about a well-behaved son. The mother is the narrator of the book, and shows many instances where her son is helpful to others or kind. Simple writing, but flows well. Good illustrations.

This has a very positive and affirming message for young boys. I especially like that it highlights skills and traits, like empathy, sharing, and gentleness, that aren't always celebrated in boys. This is a great story to really explore how wonderful and valuable those things are.

The art is just gorgeous as well! It's so bright, colorful, and vivid. It will definitely hold kids' attention and features a great diversity of characters so that lots of young readers can see themselves on the page. The story is told in verse, but sometimes word choice and meter are tweaked to make rhymes, so give this a pre-read if you're planning to read it aloud as there were a couple of stumbling points. This would be a lovely bedtime read for a quiet, sweet, and loving wind-down.

What a sweet book! I teared up reading this book because it was so sweet and full of love!

The diversity in this story was great! That was the first thing that stood out to me while perusing the beautiful illustrations. I could definitely see teachers using My Sweet Boy during various lessons throughout the year. For instance, it could be used to intro a poetry lesson and students could point out the rhyming words on each page. It could also be used during a lesson about similes and using descriptive words. And even better, it could be available for students when they just need to feel a touch of love during the school day!

The pictures in this book are adorable! The rhymes are cue and flow well. It's a story about a mother's love for her sweet little boy. It talks about some of his good qualities as he is kind and a good friend. This is a cute book. The art is definitely a highlight for me!

The artwork/illustrations in this book are phenomenal. The diversity is wonderful. This book celebrates little boys for empathy, caring, sharing and kindness---things that aren't often celebrated in boys. I also loved the way the mother comforts the little boy. This is just a sweet, beautiful book. Loved it.

This was really adorable! I loved the illustrations in this picture book. I also loved the way it portrayed a young boy experiencing his emotions and exhibiting kindness and gentleness. In a world where boys are typically valued for strength and stoicism, it was nice to see that boys can (and should) be valued for these other traits as well. While the text didn't quite flow perfectly at times, I believe the overall message and the pictures in this book make this an excellent choice to share as a read aloud or bedtime story.

This rhyming picture book teaches about good behaviour through a positive lens. While describing a child, the author models positive behaviour in a non-punitive way. It is a nice story and I think that it is a great book for families to read with young children. I would recommend this book for children in the 3-8 range, with older children being able to read it more independently. Additionally, the rhyming nature will help build literacy skills and phonemic awareness in young children who are developing the skills required to learn to read. I LOVE books with rhymes!! They always make a book so much more enjoyable and fun- especially for little ones. I ADORED the vibrant, colorful illustrations AND the artistic style makes them a lot more cozy.

My Sweet Boy is a very short and loveable story about a mother and her son and all of the wonderful, caring and important qualities that he has. I thought it was a perfect read to help littles understand how to be GOOD- listening, SHARING, being kind to others, being GENTLE, being POLITE, etc.

Instead of being told these things, reading this book daily is an excellent way to begin incorporating morals and good behavior into everyday life- in simple, and fun ways!

DEFINITELY recommend for a classroom setting- ones even catered towards behavioral needs and would be a lovely book to add to a home library too! It's never too early to start learning good behavior!

I loved the positivité in the book. It gives great examples of good behavior and also when not smiling and crying is okay too. The images are colorful and full of life. Great for an early years classroom

This book was so adorably cute and the illustrations were one of the best I have seen in a picture book in a long time, the colors were bright and eye-catching and just had this sense of vibrancy and happiness to it. The book was based on I assume the author's son who I would put between 4-6 years old as he could have been at Kindy or just starting school. My Sweet Boy goes into the life of the character's little boy and all the amazing and sweet ways he acts from being kind to others, sharing and caring, and also giving his mum kisses and snugs. My Sweet Boy is a fun rhyming picture book and a great way to teach children between the ages of 3-6 years old how to use their manners and how to act in different situations from being at kindy/school, outside playing with friends, the behavior when around animals to being at home. This book touches on several elements of good manners and is presented in a very attractive way. The other thing I loved about this book is the diversity of characters as for many years we have needed books based on other races for picture books and we now have these amazing releases like My Sweet Boy by Krystaelynne Sanders Diggs and illustrated by Thais Liboro. This book would make the perfect resource for a daycare or primary visit when teaching Manners and appropriate/ good behaviors.

I LOOOOOOOOVE the illustrations in this. They’re amazing! So bright and colorful and so full of love and care. That really adds to a picture book!

And the story is really sweet! There were a couple sentiments that were less than ideal to teach kids, but overall, they were really important SEL lessons!

This book tells the story of a well-behaved kid and how he responds to various circumstances. I adored the pictures in this book because they came to life on each page. The character designs were meaningfully diverse and inclusive, and the characters were well-drawn. The narrative did a good job of conveying its message. It doesn't come across as preachy; rather, it sounds like the sentiments of a devoted mother who adores her Sweet Boy. This work focuses on numerous ways kids can be polite and respond well to situations; it could be a helpful teaching resource for younger kids.

This is a sweet rhyming book for children, which has beautiful illustrations. My daughter and I really enjoyed reading this book and we loved it. It is suitable for children aged 3-8, but I am sure babies and toddlers would love it too, as it is bright and colourful. It has a lovely positive message which will open your heart. Highly recommended!

Just like the title, this is a sweet book. It gives a different view of boyhood and that a boy doesn’t have to be snakes and snails and puppy dog tails. Boys can be sweet like sugar and steady and calm and all those things that don’t begin in toxic masculinity.

Such a sweet book. Makes me wish I had a son so I could dedicate it to him. Loved everything about this especially the illustrations. As always I'm here for a black character and I was happy it was a little boy. Looking forward to having this in my classroom one day
