Description

Lovingly abridged and whimsically illustrated, escape to the leafy and idyllic world of Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows in this new edition of the beloved classic, perfect for 5+ readers.

One spring day, Mole peers out from his underground home to find a marvellous world awaits him. As the seasons pass, he picnics on the riverbank with Ratty, accompanies Toad on a chaotic caravan adventure, and even braves the snowy depths of the fearsome Wild Wood in search of Badger. But when Toad’s mischievous ways lead to the capture of Toad Hall by a gang of sneaky stoats and wheedling weasels, can Mole and his friends come to the rescue?

Filled with affectionate details and expressive characters, the enchanting illustrations from award-winning artist Kate Hindley spin a lush, Edwardian world for the riverbank antics of Ratty, Mole, Toad and Badger in this retelling of a beloved classic.

This is a delightfully whimsical adaption of the much loved classic.

The story of the many adventures of Mole, Rat, Badger and Toad come to life with the beautiful illustrations in the book. There are lots of hidden details to be enjoyed, for example little insects, to browse for throughout the book.

It is a great book for slightly older children to read themselves but would equally be suitable to read aloud at bedtime and enjoy the pictures together.

Many thanks to the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC to provide an honest review.

A lovely abridged, illustrated re-telling of the timeless classic The Wind in the Willows, featuring the adventures of our beloved anthropomorphic animals Mr Toad, Mole, Rat and Badger. Children will laugh with delight at the pompous, incorrigibly rash Mr Toad and his shenanigans with motorcars and his cheeky escape from prison. Every single page is illustrated in full-colour, adding an extra layer of enjoyment for young readers. This book took me back to my own childhood and I would love to share it with young students who are not yet ready to read the unabridged original tale.

This beautiful edition of Wind in the Willows has to be one of my all time favourites. From the beautiful illustrations of the wild wood, to the delightful friendship between Mole and Rat. It really is a delightfully whimsical adaption!

There are lots of hidden details to be enjoyed, for example little insects, to find throughout the book, making it a lovely bedtime story for smaller children. That being said, the book is really aimed at 5 -7 year olds.

Very much in love with the illustrations, you really won’t be disappointed.

The Wind in the Willows is a beautiful re-telling of a much loved favourite childhood book. We meet the classic characters of Mr Toad, Badger, Mole and Rat and each colourful page is delightfully engaging and beautifully illustrated. This is a perfect picture book for bedtime or story time and will have children giggling at the antics of Mr Toad especially throughout this copy. I can't wait to share this version with my daughter who enjoyed reading this in school last year.
