Wow! This is the book that I have been waiting for. Being You is an anthology of poems teaching children about emotions, empathy, how to navigate challenges and having a positive and purposeful outlook on life. As an Emotional Literacy Educator and lover of poetry, there’s no doubt that it will become my manual. What I loved the most was the breadth of emotions and challenges that this book covers. Not only is Daniel Thompson’s poetry fantastic but the illustrations are super too. All of this makes it a must have book in all primary and secondary schools and for all families looking for ways to support child mental health. Thank you Collins Publishing, Daniel Thompson and NetGalley for sharing this book with me.

What a delightful book. My older grandchildren like to dip in and out of this and some of the poems are suitable for them to read to the younger children. My youngest especially likes ,share your feelings and can recite it herself (with acting, hand gestures and loud noises). Something for everyone in this book and excellent illustrations too !

Being You is the most beautifully inspiring, beautifully illustrated, collection of poems for children.
This is the perfect book for reading aloud to your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Confident readers will also enjoy reading it to themselves. It’s the perfect collection for them to lose themselves in or to dip in and out of whenever they need a little comfort and reassurance.
Each poem offers young people the best advice for a happy, healthy relationship with themselves and the world they’re growing up in. In fact, there are lessons throughout this book for us all, no matter how old we are.
Positive thoughts for a positive life.
I read the kindle edition of this book, which was lovely, but I recommend you purchase the hardcover edition if you can as I imagine it must be stunning and the best way to fully appreciate the illustrations as well as the words.

We homeschool and I found this book to be a great addition to our daily activities.
The poems are inspiring and really connected to my children.
There are 50 poems and we are enjoying reading one a day. This gives a great basis for a conversation about the poems theme, such as friends, people's differences or worries.
Encourage your children to read these poems as they are sure to see their thoughts and feelings written in the words of a few of the poems.
Beautiful illustrations too!

I love the presentation of the poems and the bright, colourful illustrations.
This is a great collection, one I will definitely purchase and one that would be very at home in every classroom.
