Description

You think you met her by chance.

You're wrong.

Charlotte has it all: the successful career, the loving family. But, secretly, she is dangerously bored of her life.

When she meets free-spirited Bianka, it feels like fate – Bianka is exactly the person that Charlotte needs.

They escape to Ibiza where Charlotte dives head first into a life that is looser, wilder. But the holiday soon spirals out of control with fatal consequences.

As the aftermath of the trip ricochets disastrously through her life, Charlotte begins to regret breaking out of her carefully constructed life. And soon, she will question whether meeting Bianka was really an accident – or something much more calculated . . .

A fabulously creepy, simmering 'glam-noir' thriller, perfect for fans of Caroline Kepnes, BA Paris, TM Logan and Verity by Colleen Hoover.

I enjoy stories about dark friendships and obsession so this definitely hit the mark! This story focuses on the friendship that develops between Charlotte, famous for her Keto cookery show, and Bianka, who has recently arrived in London. Both who are part of the Scandinavian community in the city.

The story starts off a bit slow and I wasn’t sure it was going anywhere but suddenly, once they arrive in Ibiza for their holiday, the tension really ramps up and this becomes a fun, twisty thriller. The characters are very toxic and if I’m honest I wasn’t really rooting for any of them but enjoyed being shocked at their behaviour. There are also chapters from Bianka’s step son Storm, which at first I didn’t find that relevant but eventually added some extra insights and drama. Overall I would give this 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 as I did find this fun to read, even if it was slightly far fetched, but I did find the pacing to be off at times. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this early copy in return for an honest review.

I stayed up way too late reading this as I had to see how it would end! It's that kind of book - really gripping plot and intriguing characters. At first I was disappointed it wasn't set in Norway as that is what I love about this author's books but after a while it didn't matter. It kept me reading and I loved the characters, almost all slightly over the top but still really believable. I really enjoyed the Storm parts too. This will be a great holiday read this year.

This book needs to become a film! What an ending! I love the story, so many twists and turns. Obsession, coercion and murder. There were some dark bits! I recommend this one, a good ready whilst on the beach or by the pool.

This novel has a fascinating premise and the story didn't disappoint. What starts as a slightly sly look at the Scandi community in London and the 'influencing' trend turns into a dark psychological tale. The plot unfolds in a compelling way and the characters develop and increase complexity over the novel. Whilst occasionally far-fetched the story is engrossing and will keep you turning the pages. The ending felt a little brutal and again lightly far fetched but overall it was satisfying. I'll read more from this author.
