Description

This demon in the online game is a little too real

Twenty-year-old Abby Renshaw should be having a great summer. With still a year left in college, she’s landed an internship in a law office—in gorgeous St. Augustine, Florida yet.

Then the demon appears. As a true magician, Abby has dealt with evil spirits and monsters before, but this creature is something else. He’s haunted the city throughout history, feeding on human grief and despair. Now he’s allied with a creepy hacker guy, who’s adding the demon into a game.

Because of her magical talent, Abby’s coerced into testing the game as the demon’s opponent. She has little choice—unless she plays, the demon will continue his rampage, driving innocent people to suicide.

Can Abby stay in the game long enough to vanquish the demon for good? Or will this summer turn out to be her last?

This is the sixth installment of the Abby Renshaw Supernatural Mysteries. If you like tales of ghosts, psychic adventure, and magic, you will love this series.

Author Jack Massa does it again! He brings back one of my favorite characters, Abby Renshaw. Abby is a magician who also experiences Paranormal phenomenon. She's now a senior in college, and during the summer, works on a Law Internship in St Augustine, a place rich with history, while at the same time battling Evil in the form of a huge ugly Demon. So many twists and turns ate in this story. It makes an exciting adventure. I dont give away too much. This is a great book! I really enjoyed it.

I loved the setting in Florida and learned a little history, too. As the story progressed I was captivated and stayed up all night to finish it. I’m not a gamer so that element was new and interesting. The magic aspect (battle of good vs evil) is presented in a believable manner and the characters are fun to get to know. . A very enjoyable read which I would highly recommend.

Despite being a horror novel, it is not terror that triumphs in this book. Friendship, loyalty and community are the heroes of the day.
This was my first encounter with Abby Renshaw and I liked what I read.
Mr. Massa gives us a tour de force of the occult and its lore. The personification of the ancient Demon is convincing. He stalks the pages with malice. His taking over souls through obsessive computer games is a current twist, bringing primal fear into the 21st century.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
