The Defector by Chris Hadfield is a well researched, fast paced, spy thriller. Starting with a defection to Israel in 1973 of a MIG 25 'Foxbat' with its pilot Alexander Vasilyevich Abramovich, Colonel in the Russian Air Force.
As the Yom Kippur war is about to kick off, the Israelies now possess a significant bargaining chip with which to negotiate with the USA for supplying more munitions. So, Alex and his Foxbat soon get shipped off to America.
But is Alex as good as he seems?
Gripping from start to finish but will there be a follow up, as Alex seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth?

A fantastic follow-up to The Apollo Murders shows that Chris Hadfield's foray into fiction was more than a one-hit wonder. A surprising lack of space action, with the focus much more on fighter jets, but I was utterly hooked. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC
