The Ultimate Survival Guide for Reluctant Dads

“Greg is very blunt and very funny.” — Dusty Slay (Stand up Comic and Dad)

“Whatever kind of dad you are, Greg lets us know it’s okay. You’ve got a friend, you’re not alone, and there’s light at the end of the tunnel.” — Cullen Moss (Actor and Dad)

This book isn’t about making you the world’s greatest dad. This book is a humorous survival guide because at first, survival is all you’ll be focused on.

Seriously, how could you be calm about the biggest life change you’ll ever experience? When you find out you’re going to be a father, you have every right to start freaking out.

With this guide, and a little effort on your part, you have a shot at not totally screwing up your kid’s life. And just because you never wanted to be a dad doesn’t mean you have to suck at it.

This book is for reluctant fathers who want to be good dads and who want to find ways to love this new part of their life. Here, you will learn how to survive everything from discovering your boys can swim to dealing with your first messy diaper.

When you crack open this book, you’ll laugh, you’ll learn, and most importantly, you’ll discover how to stop worrying and love being a dad.

Daddy Issues is a fun exploration of the journey to becoming a father from a reluctant standpoint. Tavares explicitly mentions that it is taboo to describe being uneasy or not wanting to become a father but he maturely explains that often times it becomes a necessity and how to handle it. Although I am not exactly the target audience (I would like to have 5 kids), I still found it funny and littered with good tips for handling the pregnancy and first year period as well as mature advice on navigating the evolving relationship with mom.

Overall, I would recommend this short but entertaining read for fathers-to-be whether reluctant or not.
