Description

Julian Rousseaux has a problem. He's single, and for the world's wealthiest vampires, the social season is about to begin. Julian would rather stake himself than participate in the marriage market. But as the eldest, eligible Rousseaux he's expected to find a wife before the season ends-whether he likes it or not.

When cellist Thea literally stumbles into his life at a gala, he knows she's the last person he could ever fall in love with. She's too innocent, too kind, and way too human. But now that she knows about his world, she's also a walking target. She needs protection; he needs a fake girlfriend to discourage overzealous vampire matchmaking.

So, Julian makes Thea an irresistible offer: pretend to be his lover and he'll change her life. For one year, they'll attend the season's social events together in exchange for his protection and a way out of her mother's crippling medical debt.

She can't say no. But the vampire world is impossibly decadent and darker than Thea ever imagined, and Julian's filthy rich vampire family wants her out of the way. But with each moment they share, new dangers emerge: a desire as forbidden as their stolen touches, an awakening of a long-dead heart, and secrets that could tear them both apart.

Julian Rousseaux has a problem. He's single, and for the world's wealthiest vampires, the social season is about to begin. Julian would rather stake himself than participate in the marriage market...

From the get go, the whole premise of the book intrigued me.
Having devoured Bridgerton and being of fan of vampire books, this sounded like the ideal package.
I enjoyed the emphasis on tradition that Geneva weaved into this story and the MMC has a certain charm.
My only critique would be that it felt a little rushed.
A little too insta love for me BUT I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

This sensual, provocative tale takes you on a journey into a world of dark magic, primal attraction, and breathtaking romance. Personally, I was initially skeptical due to the book's title, but I quickly became entranced by the vampire realm. The vivid descriptions of music and charming architecture collided beautifully with themes of love. An absolute must-read!

Thank you NetGalley & the author for an opportunity to read this. I'm already excited to read the following two books in this series.

WOW!
This was my first read from this author and my goodness i was not disappointed.
I was left with tears in my eyes, an ache in my stomach and craving more.

This book is a dark, spicy, vampire romance and needs to be an entire series. I can't wait to read more

Filthy Rich Vampire, Book 1

A nearly 1000 year old vampire, Julian, is woken after a 'nap' of nearly 50 years. He discovers that not much has changed, but also potentially, everything has, for him!πŸ’₯

Thea is a 'jobbing' cellist. She's still a student and works as a waitress too. She's helping to pay off her mums medical bills from battling c@ncer!πŸ™πŸΌπŸ«ΆπŸΌ She meets and is weirdly drawn to Julian. He seems grumpy, violent, but also tender. She can't seem to get her fight or flight instinct to work around him.πŸ‘€

These two are battling an attraction that doesn't seem natural or healthy for either of them. Thea is so conciliatory, whereas Julian almost seems to be in a constant battle.πŸ˜”

I'm definitely invested and can't wait for more.😍

It's been a while since I've read a vampire book and I have to say that I really enjoyed "Filthy Rich Vampire" by Geneva Lee. I'm not sure if there are plans to write a series of books about the Rousseaux vampire clan but if the book/s want to compete against Anne Rice or the True Blood series then it would be interesting to learn about more of the family. However, as a stand alone book, I quite enjoyed indulging my guilty pleasure.

Filthy Rich Vampire is Hot, fast paced and compulsive reading. Once you start you just can't put it down, the only problem is, I'm very impatient waiting for the next installment! Please hurry up ! Loved it

Filthy Rich Vampire can be likened to the billionaire-type stories available but with a paranormal twist. It took me a few chapters to get hooked on the story, but once I was, I couldn't put the book down.

The passion between Julian Rousseaux, a very wealthy vampire, and human Cello player, Thea, is almost palpable. The story revolves around her discovering the vampire world and finding herself under the protection of Julian. Theirs is a forbidden relationship, and they both fight to stay within the boundaries of their 'working' relationship. They had a few passionate moments that were steamy hot, but written with no vulgarity, not written to shock.

Their story was exciting and the will they/won't they find a way to be together gave me such a huge sense of anticipation. I couldn't read the book quickly enough to find out how they managed it. I didn't realise that this was part one of a series and that it was going to end with their plight unresolved. When I finished the book I thought, NO! You can't leave me hanging like this!! I love a book that gets me so involved, but I really don't like cliffhangers and having to wait to find out what happens next!

The book had some gruesome scenes, some passionate, some sad, and of course, some lighthearted moments. It is a very captivating story and a great start to a new series.

Really super, enjoyed this! The lack of sex though is a bit annoying though justified by the end! Thoroughly enjoyed it but the annoying thing is the series is out in the states but we cannot get the next book for another 5 months, and by the time that comes along I would have totally forgotten this one. I don't get into these kind of binge books until the whole series is out, it takes the kick out of the when they are released so far apart and you loose steam. Would like to read the next one asap!

I haven't read a vampire book for a long time, and after reading a few of the reviews likening it to Twilight, I really didn't know what to expect. It isn't anything like Twilight for one, if I had to compare it, it would definitely be more True Blood esque, but it's genuinely just a vampire book not related to others. It's fun, sexy and had me absolutely hooked devouring it in no time (excuse the pun). Fantastic and can't wait to read the other books

I received an arc copy and I’m so glad I requested it.
I adored this book and flew through the pages. It was addicting and fun. I was sucked into Thea’s and Julian’s relationship and their characters. I love how the drama never stopped. I think sometimes vampire books can flop but this one didn’t. It had the important information without being boring and kept everything upbeat and fun.
February 2024 I can’t wait that long for the next book. This is a solid 4 star read.

I received an email from NetGalley about this ARC and once I read the blurb I immediately wanted to give it a go. It is a long while since I've read any vampire fiction and thought this sounded like a good way back in. I always love a good fake dating trope.

Despite it being a contemporary setting, it has an old world feel to it due to the age of the vampires. There is a beautiful feel to the novel with a slight feeling of magic and a dash of Jane Austen-esque matchmaking.

The relationship between Thea and Julian is wonderful to read. There is a very 'will they, won't they' back and forth, which while a little cheesy, I really enjoyed. The book is also in dual POV so you get to see the relationship develop from both of their perspectives.

The book has a lovely writing style which makes it very easy to read. There is plenty of world and character building. It felt a little slow in the middle but the pace definitely picked up towards the end.

My only wish about this book was for it to have a slightly less cheesy title.

The book ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to find out what happens next. The next book, Filthy Rich Vampires: Second Rite, is due to be released in February 2024 according to Amazon. I can't wait!

Thanks to NetGalley, Geneva Lee Albin, Dialogue Books and Renegade Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I am such a sucker for a good vampire story and this book did not disappoint. This book has been described as Twilight meets Bridgerton and I somewhat understand the comparison but this is a book that takes place in present day so don't going into expecting Regency era settings; I did feel at times that the narrative structure and some of the lore aspects felt a little bit like Twilight. I am not great at comp titles but the best way that I could describe this book is a fake dating billionaire royal romance with witches and vampires... so basically sign me the eff up and do it yesterday!

I really enjoyed the way that Thea and Julian interact and I liked that there was a lot of complex vampire lore to the story. I went into this book knowing that this was book one in a series but, given the Bridgerton comparison, I thought that we would be following a different sibling in each book so I wasn't ready for the cliffhanger. From what I understand, these books were originally indie / self-published and are now being traditionally published so they are being released on a rapid release schedule (thank goodness!) but the idea that I will have to wait for a year for the series to be complete still hurts. I am most definitely counting down the days until the sequel comes out and I can see what comes next.

There is a real magic the romance in this book and I appreciated how self-aware it was when Thea and Julian wanted to describe what they were experiencing as being love after only knowing one another for two days and one of the other characters was like "stop right there, don't you dare say love, you have known this guy less than 72 hours!"

I do have a bit of an issue with this book and likely this series but I will say that it is somewhat common in the genre of romance and in particular in fantasy romance and that is the way that virginity is discussed. This book felt particularly challenging as Thea's virginity is set up as a being a ✨thing✨ early on in the story and it just generally felt very uncomfy. Whether I felt that the ✨thing✨ was well-done or could have been applied using something other than virginity, the way that Thea's approach to sex was depicted was incredibly awkward. At one point, this very self-aware book makes a point of saying that is Thea can not say words like "sex" or "cunnilingus" or even "oral", maybe she isn't ready for sex and.... I have to agree, book, if Thea is not comfortable discussing sex, she probably should not having sex and there is no shame in that fact. Overall the way that sex is approached in this book is very hetronormative and also brings to mind the hypocritical purity culture stereotype of so long as it isn't p-in-v, it doesn't count as sex. Once again, the book is weirdly self-aware and at one point the ✨thing✨ almost happens whilst doing something that isn't p-in-v.

For all of the issues that I had with the way sex and virginity was approached, I actually really loved this book and I am left with a lot of questions about what comes next for the story and I am very excited to find out. I will also definitely be checking out more of Lee's books because I had a really good time.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dialogue books for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The book is described as Bridgerton meets Twilight, but I would describe it as Twilight meets 5o Shades. It follows the very speedy romance between Julian (vampire) and Thea (human). Easy to read, pacy and kept me hooked. Very racy in some parts, the only thing I didn't like was Julian's constant mention of 'pet' ( a real turn-off!). A good October read (Halloween) if you want some romance in your life!

Familiar and fresh at the same time. I liked the fusion of old and new world vampire myth. It definitely has Twilight feels but a much more grown up and less whiny. The pace is well managed and greet action. The ending while stressful sets up brilliantly for the next one.

This was pure indulgent romance. Granted not believable at times but to be honest I don’t read these kinds of romances for reality - whisk me away! Overall I really enjoyed it for an easy read and a bit of fun.

Loved this book. A mixture of fantasy, obsession and love with a mix of vampires & witches. Well written and enthralling.

Not your overly typical vampire/love triangle story. Yes there is the gorgeous hot vampire that just happens to be 900 years old and of course all of his family are equally as beautiful.
And of course he falls for a mere female mortal!
But in saying that there is a decent storyline aswell.
I'm intrigued to find out what happened to the vampires Julian's twin sister in the next book.
Overall a enjoyable read.

An easy to read story with romance, Bridgestone vibes and vampires and super human powers. What’s not to love. Can’t wait for the rest of the series.

A fast paced and utterly addictive vampire romance. I love how the relationship between the two characters develop as we learn more about his world. As romantic as Twilight, but I loved the change in location. I would love to have seen a little more about her relationship with her mother, but the ending leads us on to hopefully another book. An easy 4 star rating with lovable characters and fast paced romance storyline.

Well, this was a bit of a roller coaster ride of a story, the fast pace was excellent although I did have to skip some of the more raunchier passages, I didn't think it needed them, the imagination can fill those in easily, but I felt bereft at the ending

Ok I was so mad at the non-ending of this book ... until I realised that is part one of a four part series (that have all been published) so thankfully I can keep reading the books.

Julian is a 900 year old vampire who awakens in 2023 after being asleep for almost 40yrs. He doesn't want to be awake but his mother has sent for him as he needs to attend the vampire social season in order to find a familiar to marry and produce vampire babies with.

This is an interesting take on the classic vampire story. The only two things that seem to remain the same as all other vampire stories - they are ridiculously horny creatures and they're incredibly wealthy. In this telling of the vampire story, they can be out at all hours of the day (as the OG Dracula could as well), they have familiars (witches) and they possess some kind of old magic that even they don't seem to understand. There was also quick mention of warewolves so clearly they are alive and kicking in this realm.

While it felt like the writing wasn't great at times, the themes in the story made up for it. I enjoyed the push and pull relationship between Julian and Thea. Though the ending was a cliff-hanger! I'm really looking forward to reading the next books in the series.

This is definitely more True Blood or Empire of the Vampire then Twilight!
As a huge fan of Vampire books I quite liked this, it’s a bit raunchy, has a bit of quirkiness, some humour, has a slightly different backstory again from other Vampire sagas, enough to keep you intrigued.
The two main characters are likeable. Both have a backstory, some we learn, some outstanding I assume so they can use this to build another novel or two.
Well paced and easy to read this was an overall winner for me!
Really looking forward to Book II The second Rite….

I enjoyed this. The story outside of the romance seemed a little under-developed, but this sits firmly in the romance first, fantasy second category so I didn't mind too much. It was angsty and dripping with tension and the ending has left me desperate to get my hands on the next book.

Forbidden romance, billionaire vampire and fake dating. What's not to like?

'Vampires were real. The sexiest man ever was one of them, and he might be flirting with me? And his mother looked both younger and hotter than me'.

As the eldest of the Rousseuax family, it's social season - meaning Julian Rousseuax needs to find a 'familiar' (witch) wife and produce heirs. One problem with that though, Julian meets Thea, a human, and is instantly captivated by her. Will Julian go against his family's wishes to be with Thea? What started as a fake dating arrangement is turning into something way more..

What a page turner, I love a vampire romance - and when you add forbidden romance to the mix, I'm completely sold. I loved watching Julian and Thea's relationship grow, Julian letting her in, and standing up to his mother. This was like Bridgerton for vampires and I'm here for it, especially adding in the fact that Thea is a cellist - I was just imagining Bridgerton-type music during the social events!

But that ending, I was so upset for Julian and Thea - I'm excited for the next book now to see how things pan out!

This book is a captivating journey through the depths of imagination. Its rich storytelling and well-developed characters kept me engaged from start to finish. With its thought-provoking themes, it transcends genres and offers something for every reader. A must-read for anyone seeking a literary adventure.

I read this book as it was billed as 'Twilight meets Bridgerton' and I like both of those series. I'm not sure that description is entirely apt as the 'spice' level of this book far exceeds either of the others. To say these vampires are decadent is an understatement!
Julian Rousseaux, eldest eligible bachelor of the powerful Rousseaux family is expected to make a match this season. Julian has other ideas however and will do almost anything to dodge this particular duty. Enter Thea, a talented young cellist who has the misfortune of providing background music at the first gathering of the vampire social season. As Julian finds he's not the only one drawn to Thea, he decides to protect her and keep her safe, in exchange Thea will pretend to be his girlfriend. I did find this book quite compelling as there are so many occasions where you just don't know if Thea's going to make it through the next event in one piece!
The ending is quite a cliffhanger and I hope we won't have too long to wait before we find out what happens next!

Filthy Rich Vampire reads how it sounds, a little cliche on the one hand but pretty addictive to read. The hero Julian, is a bunch of contradictions but that's part of his appeal. He's from vampire royalty and he's got a duty to perform for the good of vampire legacy. Thea, the heroine is a small but feisty muscian, all human and not for his world.

From a trope perspective it's giving:
*fake dating
*he falls first
*forbidden relationship

I liked the eventual dynamic that this couple developed, built on a vampiric insta-mate plot but there was more to them than that convenience. I'm convinced there's more to Thea in the supernatural than meets the eye. I didn't always enjoy the on-page heat but I definitely bought into their chemistry.

The obstacles in the way of these two are frustrating but part of the plot and that ending can hardly be forgiven. No doubt, I'll be reading the next.
