Her best friend is dead. Her good-for-nothing ex is back in her life. And her career is in freefall.

So, when fellow writer Riley O'Connell invites Becca to the charming Irish countryside, she can't pack her bags fast enough, even though they have never met.

But happily-ever-after isn't quite so simple.

And Riley is not a sensitive female romance novelist like Becca assumed. No, he is definitely a man. A hot, six-foot tall, Irish man.

But with their complicated pasts getting in the way, Becca and Riley just can't get on the same page.

So can fate give their love story a rewrite?

This was so cute! Similar writing style to Emily Henry with its witty banter, gritty backstories and hopeful narratives. I loved the literary theme and the setting throughout.

The beginning was slightly slow but I loved the ending.

Could have done with a bit more depth at times, but overall an entertaining, heartfelt story of love and loss!

A surprising read! I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, and had anticipated it being the standard romance book with predictable tropes, storylines and endings. However, I was so drawn in by the main characters and found myself desperately reading 'just one more chapter' to find out what would happen! every time I thought I knew where things were going there was a suprise bit of information that kept me wanting more. I really enjoyed how the themes of grief, friendship and betrayal were explored and represented as well as forgiveness. As a teacher myself, I especially enjoyed that Becca was a teacher and loved learning about her reasons for going into teaching and her passion for it, I haven't read many books about teachers so it was really nice feeling like I could relate to these parts. I particularly liked that the main character was so self reflective and considerate of her actions as often I find with romances this isn't the case! I would've loved a bit more information towards the end about Becca and Riley's life together rather than going straight to the proposal in the epilogue if I'm being really picky, but all in all a totally fabulous book which I would highly recommend to even the most cynical of romance readers!

Insane!

What a phenomenal ARC read this one was.

I genuinely messaged my friends around Chapter 3 and told them this was going to be one of my favourite reads of 2024!

Plot Twist was such a unique read, the themes of grief, betrayal, forgiveness and love were so well written I couldn’t put it down.

Mark March 28 on your calendars because you NEED to get your hands on a copy when it is released.

Becca must find a way to navigate a new world without her best friend, as new revelations find their way to the surface, she seeks an escape.

She takes off to stay with an author friend of hers she met online in hopes of spending some time away from all the heartbreak in her life. But some names really are ambiguous.

4 stars!

I absolutely love reading books about authors! Its pretty niche and fun!

I really enjoyed the plot (hehe) and the flashback chapters too. The chapters were a bit long which I don't normally like, I usually prefer shorter chapters but so much was happening in this book it didn't feel too bad!

This definitely gave me "book lovers" vibes but the romance was sweet, the story was great and there wasn't horrible miscommunication and a 3rd act break up!

Would definitely recommend to all my romance reading girlies!

This book, honestly had me giddy, I went into this completely blind, had no idea what was going to happen and I’m so glad I did because that was twist after twist after twist. So much happened and I absolutely loved it!

I loved both the main characters they were so cute and I could feel the chemistry from the second they met! The other characters in the story were perfect and I would love to read a book about Bridget and Ellie!!

Overall a perfect romance book that I could not put down!

Working through grief can be hard. Taking a trip to another country thinking you’re gonna meet a fellow female author only to find out it’s a man can be even harder.

This story was sweet and not too difficult to get through. The pacing was okay and I found the characters overall enjoyable. I was rooting for them the whole time.

Thank you NetGalley and Headline for the ARC.

Arc review - I received a copy on netgalley on return for an honest review ♥️ thank you!

For a debut novel this was great. The rom con vibes were so good! Obsessed with the Glasgow references since I am there all the time 😂 (the garage mention made my chuckle)

Review - these characters were developed amazingly, I felt like I was reading about real people. I am so obsessed with Riley, deffos a new book boyfriend! The two main characters have great banter, seeing their friendship develop was lovely! I cried, laughed and gasped, I went through every emotions.
I wasn’t bored at all and the plot was really enjoyable, I liked multiple storylines that we were following and also liked the time jump chapters to see a bit of the history and understand why characters would react in a certain way.

I loved the small town and found family within this book, it was super heartwarming!

The perfect rom com to read if you want to escape a little!

I highly recommend adding this to your tbr!

Title: Plot Twist by Breea Keenan

Release Date: 28th March 2024

4 Stars

I received this book in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

Get ready to be swept off your feet!

This rom-com will make you laugh and smile.

Delivering endless plot twists (I guess it is to be expected due to the title) , sweet love, and heartwarming moments.

In this cute tale of love, family, and unexpected surprises, readers are in for a cozy, fast-paced read that will leave them smiling long after the final page.

Becca Taylor, teacher and aspiring author, having lost her best friend and discovering a very hurtful secret, decides to take a break from reality. So, when fellow writer Riley O’Connell invites Becca to the charming Irish Countryside (Yes please!) she can’t pack her bags fast enough……..even though they have never met.

At the centre of it all is the sweet and charming romance between the Riley O’Connell, a romance novel author known for his grand gestures, and Becca Taylor, who finds herself swept off her feet by his undeniable charm. However life s never that simple and each have they own luggage to carry and deal with along the way.

Breea Keenan has created a cast of characters that readers will instantly fall in love with. From the endearing Riley, whose romantic gestures steal the show, to tBecca, whose vulnerability and strength make her relatable and compelling, each character adds depth and dimension to the story. Supporting characters, including meddling, lovable family members and loyal enemies to somewhat friends, round out the ensemble cast and bring an extra layer of warmth and humour.

Breea Keenan’s writing style is cozy, charming, and irresistibly engaging.

Each page is filled with heartfelt moments, and laugh-out-loud humour. The fast-paced plot keeps readers glued to the edge of their seats, eagerly devouring each new twist and turn. Despite its cozy atmosphere, this rom-com is anything but predictable, keeping readers guessing until the very end.

I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a feel-good escape!

Funny and charming! I sped through this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

This book is almost a direct half-half split between Last Night with the almost immediately dead best friend of the main character, but also Beach Read with both main characters being writers and setting tasks to help keep them on track.

The story is gonna tug at your heart strings, I'll tell you that right now. It starts with main character Becca being in a doctor's surgery having a routine smear test in what almost seems to be then forgotten for a lot of the story. Because basically the next thing that happens, after a conversation Becca has with writer friend Riley online, is that we find out that Becca's best friend Rae is dead.

We don't get to shy away from the grief that comes from this, and it's made even sadder because Becca doesn't really have many people to reach out to. Or she feels she doesn't, once she realises that Rae was about to become engaged to her ex Drew, and was waiting on telling her for the catch up she was driving to on the night she died.

All of this leads Becca to take leave from work and then take up an invite from Riley who suggests a writer's retreat where they live.

The big issue is: Becca believes Riley to be a single woman with a daughter. Riley is actually a single man with a daughter. And, upon finding this, Becca's basically close enough to the end of her rope that she considers leaving right then and there.

But the friendship they've formed online does shine through. What also shines through is the beginning of an attraction between them. But Riley isn't without his own dramas, which take the form of the mother that his daughter's been missing coming back into both of their lives without warning.

As is almost necessity for good romances, there is a couple of gorgeous side characters, being Riley's sister and Bridget and her lovely partner Ellie, both of them trying to adopt a child.

I just thought this was lovely and thoroughly enjoyable. Even though I love romantic comedies and I don’t always laugh and this was really funny in places but touching in others. I also really liked the dialogue - none of it was toe curling which is actually rare for this genre. Well thought through and without some of the over the top stereotyping we have come to out up with. I feel this was just really well played.

Becca's life is far from perfect. She hates her boss and has a serious case of writer's block. The only two bright spots in her life are her best friend and her online writing friend, Riley. When Becca finds out her best friend died on her way to visit Becca, her life is turned upside down. Becca decides that she needs a change of scenery and when Riley suggests coming to visit, Becca decides it will be good to have some girl time. However, upon her arrival Becca soon realizes that Riley is actually a hot, Irish man who is also a single dad. They soon realize that they are the perfect partners but with their complicated past, can they truly be together?

This was such a cute romance story that also deals with grief, forgiveness and moving on. I think the author did a great job with both of the main character's past and how that realistically effected their relationship. I also enjoyed the different books they were writing and how they both worked together to overcome writer's block. Overall, I loved this book and will be looking for more books by this author in the future.

Plot Twist comes out on March 28th.

Thank you to NetGalley and Headline Publishing for the opportunity to review Plot Twist.

Thank you NetGalley, Breea Keenan, and Headline for letting me have a sneak peak at this super fun read! If you are a fan of romantic comedies, refinding yourself, moving countries, and… hot single dads, this books is for you! This book follows Beeca as she faces a massive life change with the loss of her best friend (as well as finding out a pretty large secret her best friend kept from her). Feeling lost, she takes a leave of absence from her teaching job and decides to move in with her writing pen pal in Ireland to have writers summer to finish their book. Just like the title of the book, the is plot twist after plot twist. I really adored this read! It was super fun, well paced, and always kept me wanting to read more. Mark your calendars for March 28th! You do not want to miss this read!!

I always love an Irish rom-com, and this did not disappoint. Plot Twist had all my favorite elements: friends to lovers, small town setting, flashbacks, grand gestures, family, cancer scare, everything wrapped up in a pretty bow at the end. Loved it all! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

Amazing book!
I was thoroughly engaged throughout this book and I didn't want to put it down! The author captured my attention from the get go! Five stars from me :)

This book was really fun to read! It started off with Becca who initially faces tragedy in her life, following that she drunkenly packs her bags and heads to Ireland to stay with another writer friend, in this time her life begins to turn upside down. She faces grief and betrayal yet comes out on top. This book does not focus heavily on romance but I loved this story because the friendships built and the plot twists of her life made this a really interesting read!
I do feel as though some parts could have gone into depth more as it was only reading on the surface and some parts felt rushed.
Thank you Headline Books and Netgalley for this Arc.

A complicated little story about learning to forgive, and trusting again. Really enjoyed the small-town Ireland vibe, and the supporting cast felt very real and appealing. Riley was compelling and oh so fun to read, and even thought he made some questionable choices, this was a fun sweet read.

This was a really beautiful story of grief, loss, finding yourself, and love. It was heavy and heartbreaking but also hopeful and lovely. I enjoyed it very much.

Fab quick romance read! Loved the premise of Becca not realising her “penpal” wasn’t a female Riley but in fact a male and of course the eventual love story between them. I enjoyed all the subplots with the added characters (of course Ivy being my favourite) and even didn’t feel too bad when someone (without spoilers) got a little redemption at the end. Can imagine this as a perfect holiday/beach/pool read for romance lovers who want some quick and easy to get through.

It’s not often a book makes me cry, but when it does it automatically becomes a 5 star read.

This book of loss and love was written so beautifully. Becca and Riley were written to be so relatable, and the supporting cast of characters were strong.

Becca and Riley meet in an online writers chat, and when Becca suffers a devastating loss, she leaves Scotland to stay for the summer in Ireland with Riley while they write their books. I honestly don’t want to say anymore, because you really just need to read it.

Thanks @netgalley for the e-arc!

A special thanks to Headline and NetGalley for providing me an advanced copy of this book to review.

A very sweet and enjoyable read. Loved the pacing and progression of the story itself, and the use of flashbacks.

All the characters introduced felt necessary to aid the story’s direction.

Truly left me giggling at times for sure.

Definitely recommend if you enjoy sweet, cosy reads.

When Irish writer Riley invites fellow Scottish writer Becca to their country getaway, Becca jumps at the chance to work on her book whilst spending time with her female friend. What Becca doesn't realize is that Riley is a guy and a hot one at that. And that's just the first plot twist...

I listened to this audiobook as I read along with my ebook. If you have the chance to listen to this one on audio, I highly recommend it. There's something about the Scottish and Irish accents that just puts you in the right mood for romance. This book had a cute storyline with likable characters that kept me fully entertained throughout. Congratulations on your debut Breea Keenan - I can't wait to see what you write next.

THIS WAS SO CUTE. The characters. The development. The cover. All of it, it’s adorable. Highly recommend.

Oh my god, what a sweet and enjoyable romance read Becca and Riley were both amazing main characters, and there were so many side characters that I really enjoyed reading about such as Ivy, Bridget and Ellie!

I really wish we got to see a POV from Riley, as I know it would have been amazing to hear his thoughts! We love a man who’s a romance author AND a big romantic.

This story also writes about grief in such a beautiful and realistic way - I started tearing up on the train when it got to the part where Becca visits Rae’s grave😢.

It would have been nice to see a little bit more of a transition from friends to lovers. Since it is a closed door romance I would have loved to see more of the chemistry and tension build up between them before getting together.

Side note: the epilogue was amazing (a very rare opinion from me)!!

Some days, you need a read where you know what's going to happen, and you can wrap yourself up in the comfort of it. I can practically see the Hallmark movie version of this (though I'd hate to think what they'd do with the accents; Northern Irish and Scottish are not easy to fake unless you're Nicola Coughlan.)

I loved the gentle, easy writing in this, and the characters are fantastic, especially Riley's sister and her partner. I'd love to stay in their hotel as it's described here! The details were beautifully chosen and really well written. There are also some very important things said about grief here, which I - well, 'enjoyed' feels wrong, but I certainly thought they were worth reading.

This is a great read and I highly recommend it. I can't wait to start selling it.

I loved Becca and the journey she was on. This book was a bit emotional for me ( check tw !) but a beautiful story that wasn’t dragged or had any unrealistic or uncharacteristic twists and turns. You’ll enjoy this one with a nice cup of tea and fluffy blanket!!

The story of Riley and Becca. Online friends who meet n real life when Becca is going through a tough time. Both authors struggling to write, will they help each other. An emotional read.
