....................................................

Emmy Harper has penned some of the most popular Hollywood movies of the past few years. But her latest project has hit a standstill. Unable to find the perfect leading lady, Emmy's persuaded to take on the role herself, dusting off acting skills she hasn't used in over a decade.

Things get even worse when a last-minute cast change leaves Emmy with the one co-star she can't trust: Grayson West. A blockbuster action hero known for his megawatt smile and impossible abs, Grayson is anyone's dream of a romantic lead. Too bad Emmy still blames him for her disastrous first movie and the early end to her acting career.

The friction between them might be the result of lingering awkwardness or unresolved sexual tension, but either way, it's ruining the movie! If Emmy and Grayson want to save the production-and their own careers-they'd better find some way to resolve it, and quickly...

‘Right on Cue’ by Falon Ballard tells the story of Emmy, the daughter of Hollywood royalty - a screenwriter who has won an Oscar for her writing but only ever starred in one terrible movie - and Grayson, an actor twice voted the Sexiest Man Alive. When Emmy is pushed into joining the cast of her latest rom-com and finds out that Grayson, with whom she shares an unfortunate history, is stepping in as the male lead, she worries that their film is on a fast-track to flopsville! Can the two co-stars find a way to mend their off-screen relationship and create on-screen magic together?

I really enjoyed the look behind the scenes of a movie set, and Emmy’s unique voice as she questioned real-life romantic events through the lens of being a rom-com writer herself. Grayson was a loveable character and I liked that he showed his vulnerability and insecurity more as his story developed. I also thought the chemistry between the two characters in the steamy scenes was excellent!

I did find that in the last quarter or so of the book, I wanted to scream at Emmy, as her choices and actions were pretty frustrating… I’m never a huge third act break up fan, but this one particularly annoyed me. It was just about worth it for the reconciliation though, and I really was rooting for them as a couple.

Overall, this was a four star for me - a fun, fabulous rom-com to start off February with some laughs and a lot of swooning!

Thank you Netgalley and Headline Eternal for an eArc of this book!

Who knew the best kind of Rom-Com was about two people starring in a Rom-Com!

This was the first book I have read by Falon Ballard and it was everything I could want out of a romance book!

It had one of the most fun plot lines with the two main characters staring side by side in a movie. This was a mild enemies to lovers book with all the best parts of that trope!

I was already a firm fan of Falon Ballard’s and reading Right in Cue has only further cemented her as an absolute autobuy author for me. I absolutely love Ballard’s writing style and the characters she creates. Right on Cue was such a fun read and one I’d thoroughly recommend.

Right on Cue is the story of Emmy Harper, a beloved nepo baby screenwriter who is producing her first romcom in years. Following problems with casting the female lead Emmy finds herself not only having written the film but starring in it. Having not acted in decades Emmy is ready for the challenge. The problem, however, is that she’s forced to act alongside her sworn nemesis, action heartthrob, Grayson West. And so begins a brilliant enemies to lovers, close quarters, working together romance, with excellent chemistry and sizzling tension.

The premise of this one was so much fun. It was such a knowing rom com, where we have a romance writer, acting in a rom com movie, knowing all the tropes, whilst living them herself and falling in love in a brilliant enemies to lovers. Later in the story Emmy actually says then ‘I release the breath I totally knew I was holding’ and honestly I grinned like the Chesire Cat, I love so much that Ballard included that! It was such a fun and self aware read, I just couldn’t get enough.

I really liked both of the main characters and thought they worked really well together. The evolution of enemies, to co stars with benefits to falling for one another worked very well. The sparky banter between them was pitch perfect and so much fun. I will admit, however, to being frustrated with Emmy and not giving Grayson the benefit of the doubt in the third act break and willing her to have not fled when she did. That said, the resolution was a satisfying one.

Overall I really enjoyed this one.

I first saw this book on reviewed on Instagram and she loved it, to the point where I immediately dashed over here to see if it was still available, squealing with delight when it was! I wasn’t disappointed, Everything from the setting to the characters to the spice and the banter was just perfection! I haven’t enjoyed a book as much as this one in quite a while. It’s one of those books that are so well written, you don’t feel like you’re actually reading, if that makes sense. Like you don’t have to work at it, it just draws you in and keeps you turning pages. Thanks Netgalley and Publisher.

I stumbled upon this book purely by chance (and also thought the cover was very cute) and I am so glad I did. I have been itching to read a lighthearted romcom with some intense chemistry between the two main characters and Right on Cue offers all that and more. I quite enjoyed Emmy as a main character; her perspective was so much fun to read from and I could totally see how she was slowly falling for Grayson as the story progressed.

As for Grayson, I thought he was kind of an ass in the beginning, but I did fall for him (as did Emmy) over the course of the book. His and Emmy's interactions were the perfect way to see the chemistry between them. Though they start off as (very) reluctant coworkers, forced to work alongside each other years after their first disastrous movie, one very intense situation helps them figure out how to work together and things only go from there.

In many ways, this feels like a classic, maybe kind of cliched romcom, but trust me, we all need one of those. Right on Cue is the perfect choice if you are looking to sit back and relax with something lighthearted and something that will leave you smiling in the end.

💙 Rivals to lovers
💙 Second chance

This was my introduction into the world of Falon Ballard and I’m a convert! I was hooked the minute I opened this book and flew through it pretty quickly. The banter between them was brilliant.

Overall this was a really sweet romance that hit all of the feels. The characters and world building were really nicely done and I was vouching for them to get their HEA from start to finish, despite my frustrations in the third act.

My favourite thing about this book was the characters, especially Grayson. He was battling with some big insecurities that most of us have probably felt at one point or another in our lives, which made me care for him deeply. Seeing him open up about this to Emmy was heartwarming and made even better by her response; she saw him for who he was and believed in him and knew he was capable much more than he thought he was. Similarly, I also really liked Emmy, who was also dealing with some insecurities of her own and it was great to see her (both of them, really) overcome them and allow themselves to forget the past and be happy together

Similarly to my last read - Till There Was You -, though this was a Celebrity romance where not only one, but both MCs are in the Hollywood Industry, there was none of the drama that’s often found in that type of book, which I really appreciated. Emmy and Grayson were in their own little bubble, just getting to know each other, falling in love and having fun and I loved that!

My biggest issue with this book was the miscommunication, especially towards the end, which absolutely killed me. I understand that it might be realistic but I wanted to yell at Emmy, especially considering miscommunication was part of the reason why they fell out all those years ago and you’d hope she would have learned something from that and let him explain himself at the very least but I guess not. I also really wish we’d got some chapters in Grayson’s POV, as I think that would have made it much better!

Overall, this is a great second chance romcom with loveable characters and a quick and fun read! If you’re into celebrity romances, definitely check it out.

A big thank you to Headline Eternal and Netgalley for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Right on Cue is a heart-warming and witty story. The story focuses on Emmy, an actress turned screenwriter who must dust off her acting skills to take on the leading lady role in her latest project. Unfortunately she is cast against Grayson, an actor who she believes brought her acting career to a crashing halt. With friction and sizzling banter, this was a fun, fast ride. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I loved this book. It is a real cute romance, with adorable Em and gorgeous insecure Grayson. They fight and ôush each others buttons until they don’t and the banter and irritation is excellently written. The supporting characters are great, Em’s best friend and mum are hilarious and yet so kind and caring at the same time. Despite Em and Grayson being huge stars, the book is about their every day and it all just hangs together perfectly.

Emmy & Grayson ❤️

🎬Emmy is the daughter of two acting legends, parents that actually loved each other and her, but it meant she has grown up living her life in the spotlight.

🎞️As a romcom scriptwriter, Emmy stays strictly behind the camera. After a disastrous foray into acting when she was a teen, she is very camera shy. And most of that reason was the on-screen vibe between her and co-lead actor Grayson West.

🎥After reluctantly agreeing to perform in her latest romcom, who else becomes the lead at the last minute than that very same Grayson West. The sparks fly and there is no love lost between the two.

📚I adored Falon Ballard’s debut Lease on Love but the follow up Just My Type didn’t do it for me. Right on Cue is a real cutie, slightly predictable but the sweet characters that Emmy and Grayson play, the standoffish vibes, make it worth reading. These two are clearly hiding more feelings, and the single POV with glimpses into Grayson’s true thoughts and emotions make for fun reading. It’s a cutie 🥰

I really enjoyed this book, it was light and fun and a perfect escape of a story.

The characters were well formed and the writing style was good enough for me to want to check out other works by this author.

I'm marking it down one star purely because I feel like there wasn't enough clarity and closure around what happened when they were teenagers and that would have been interesting to read.

This was a fun cute romance just like Ballards Just My Type you get completely swept up in the story and have a good time reading it.

Both characters here are completely flawed and at times really annoying but you want them to be happy anyway.

One thing I did appreciate about this book is that after the third act break up it wasn’t just forgiveness straight away they actually had to work on themselves.

A hallmark style romance set within the making of a hallmark style movie! This kind of romcom was an easy romance read and whilst I was not happy with the plot line in which sees these two main characters split up, which is of course about readers preference. The fallout was sudden and complete and to be honest I was a little disappointed with our female lead, Emmy, in not having any faith in Grayson and not even being willing to discuss the fallout.
I did enjoy the story overall and definitely recommend this and any Falon Ballard romance books, she is a great author and provides some easy and fun reads!

I received this as a free ARC from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

✨ A screenwriter finds herself starring in her latest romantic comedy…alongside the hunky nemesis who made her leave acting years ago ✨

Emmy Harper is convinced to play the lead role in her newest romantic comedy movie after not having acted in over a decade. However, when the casted male lead had to back out last minute, Emmy is surprised to see Grayson West, the person she blames for ending her short-lived acting career, standing across from her. With unresolved tension and a whole lot of hate, will Emmy find a way to work with Grayson before jeopardizing her movie?

This rom-com was delicious! It including the small town trope (with a twist), celebrity romance and a sprinkle of enemies to lovers. The pacing was just right in this book (which led me to read it in one sitting). I wasn’t expecting the spice in this to be so sizzling and the chemistry between Emmy and Grayson was just *chefs kiss*. The growth and maturity between the two bloomed throughout this book and the single POV made this book even more exciting. The only reason why this book isn’t five stars is the 3rd act drama but I loved reading it nonetheless.

🎬 I will be recommending this book to the world as it’s such a light, fun and exciting read 🎬

Thank you to NetGalley and GP Putnam’s Sons sending me this ARC.

First of all this is my go to romance trope so I already knew it was going to be great but I absolutely loved the dynamic between Emmy and Grayson. Two extremely likeable characters on their own which is hard to come by but put together are easily one of my favourite book couples.

I loved this right up until 80%.

This is one of those stories that does not need a third act conflict. The characters go through so much during the story already that the ending up together is satisfying enough. But no! We got the worst of the worst third act conflicts - you guessed it -miscommunication! Thanks - that just ruined all of the work up until that point.

I loved the way the characters fell in love. Instead of the third act conflict, more time could have been used to flesh out why Grayson was so surly in the beginning ans secondly, why their first movie together was the start of so many of their insecurities.

Falon Ballard has done it again! Her writing completely sucks me in every time and I absolutely adore her books.
I felt myself going into a slump before starting this and it saved me, so for that, I thank you!

Right on Cue has such a fun setting. I'm a real sucker for Hollywood storylines but this has the bonus touch of small town romance that just made it so much better. Also, the media snippets weaved throughout was a very nice addition!

The transition between enemies to costars-with-benefits to lovers was perfect. Emmy and Grayson are wonderful protagonists with great banter! I knew their love would be fiery and fun, and there was never a full moment when they were in the same room together. You could almost feel the tension ripple off the pages.

While I was pleased when they started to bond, I loved the scenes when they didn't get on. And that's including the sex scene they had to film, which was tense but in a very good way :) I was secretly hoping we'd get that somewhere - especially at a time when they weren't friendly - so I wasn't disappointed;

And the way the story ended was perfect.

The pacing was spot on, I wasn't bored for a single second, with the perfect balance of drama, filming and the sweet romance that blossomed.

Liz was also a great BFF, her girlbossing during the movie-making process and not afraid to tell her friend to get her sh*t together. And being there for Emmy through the bad times, she was a wonderful supporting character!

Loved it. I'll highly recommend to any romance readers out there.

Thank you for letting me read this early :)

Thank you Netgalley & Headline Eternal for access to this arc in exchange for an honest review. 🤍

Emmy Harper is a nepo baby screenwriter who has written a romcom for the first time since her father passed away. Struggling to find a suitable leading lady, she gives into the pressure of the crew and takes on the role herself. All is well until the original leading man has a skiing accident and is replaced at the last minute by Grayson West, i.e., the man who ruined her acting career years ago. Their tension is prevalent on screen, but what happens when they’re forced to work out their differences?

Falon Ballard has done it again! The book was so easy to follow and naturally progressive. I absolutely loved the plot and Falon’s writing is just perfect. All of the additional characters made this story flow in the best way possible, and they really made the book what it is. The progression of Emmy and Grayson’s relationship was so well-written and Falon Ballard made me cry yet again.

Such a great book. Out Feb 27 !! ⭐️

This was so unbelievably good!!!!!!!!!

In Right on Cue, Emmy and Grayson sweep you off your feet. Emmy is a talented nepo baby who specialises in screen writing, mostly rom-coms. But first, she dipped her toe in acting which went badly when her and her costar Grayson ended up on bad terms. Now she’s back in front of the camera for one of her own romcoms and to her dismay, so is Grayson. The two do them have incredible chemistry. You can feel it spark off the pages and draw you in (I mean, I literally read this book in a day). It’s clear that the two are made for each other very quickly. They challenge each other, they bicker and they put that chemistry to good use. I don’t really have much to say about the book besides the fact that it was incredible. I think it’s best to just dive in and experience it. The characters are lovable and charming and the writing truly makes you feel like you’re right there with them. Definitely go and read it if you have the chance! Thank you so much to Netgalley for giving me an advanced copy of this book, it was a great experience!
