Description
"If you kill a witch who delivers a prophecy, it won’t come to be."
As a child, Cori delivered a prophecy that foretold all witches practicing dark magic would lose their power on a future winter solstice. When she spoke the words aloud, it put a target on her back—and tied her fate to a ticking clock.
After a decade of hiding and pushing away her magic, Cori moves to the idyllic town of Farley, Maine. She has one goal—keep her head down while counting down the days until the prophecy comes to pass. But the town—and the people that live there—are not what she expected.
When Cori meets Adrian Huxley, a local Water Elemental witch, her secret is no longer safe. The closer she gets to him, the harder it is to suppress her magic. When a visitor from the past makes her question the real reason she was sent into hiding—and the loyalty of the family she swore to protect—she realizes her life is not the only one in danger.
For fans of Spells for Forgetting and A Discovery of Witches comes a cozy, ethereal story about a witch who must face the dark truths of her past—risking everything she loves and everything she has worked for.

The authors dedication is what let me know I was going to love this book on the first page I read. So be sure to take it to heart when you read it!
It might be the similarities to living in a small little lobster fishing village but this book burrowed deep into my heart. Too often understanding magic systems and terminology requires a glossary but The Gray Prophecy makes the fact that witches and magic exist so completely natural that you become a bit suspicious of your own lobster fishing neighbour.
Cori as a main character is someone you care for, ever looming prophecies aren’t something easily run from and the author definitely keeps you on your toes. I love the slow release of how you learn bits about her past and childhood.
Adrian, is just what she needs and seeing things from his point of view feels so natural to the flow of the book and you always get to see his point of view just when you’re curious.
The plot moves effortlessly, and the amount of highlight I had for vivid imagery and smart quips far surpassed what I usually have. The pop culture references are fantastic, Team Dean is a big red flag.
A lot of the themes are things I enjoy especially the usage of astrology this blended perfectly in without being complicated (as it can be). The found family aspect is 👌🏻there’s a heartbreaking layer written in, made me gasp but it’s truly written so well that you really feel for Cori.

"Wow! I finished this book in two days! I did not want to put it down, but I had to sleep.
The descriptors of the places make the world come alive. I really like how the changing of perspectives is done. It's not abrupt and seems to be a perfect balance. I was hooked from the first description of the area and once they started talking about prophecies and covens I wanted to know more and more.
I like that there are different interpretations of magic in each sect of witches as well. It makes things not so black and white when it comes to the prophecy.
I really enjoy the build of the relationship between the main characters. It doesn't feel too fast. It feels like it's at the right pace and I really appreciate that. I loved the spicy scene. I wish it had been longer tbh.
There were some curve balls in here that I absolutely did not see coming and I loved it!
