This is as detailed as you get. A thorough walk through 100 video games of the classic era. Complete with facts, developers info, trivia and even pricing. Each game is spread over 3-4 pages and whilst some don't have screenshots (the only improvement needed) all have a lot of detail. Some myths are debunked and the detail is great.

If you are a fan of the era you may know all of this, it was a bit before my time if I am honest. If you are a student of computer games then its a good book for reference on history and development. I'd recommend it for either purpose but not for the casual reader. This is because its completely focused on an era and style of game that you need to love or have interest in to really appreciate this book. However, for what it is aimed for you won't get better.

This book covers all the fun games you played or rented as a kid. My kids are still loving the 8 and 16 bit favorites. Games like Centipede, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Joust, Ms. Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., and so much more!!

The fun never ends ... but this book brings back all the memories of the games and the joy they gave to all of us in their day. In full color - these are complete descriptions including year, number of players, developer, and so much more!

I found that this book is handy for trivia games, memories, or even just as a conversation piece on the coffee table. A true collectors dream!!

Excellent, excellent resource on what could be an argument resulting in fisticuffs: the 100 greatest console games. Any kid who grew up in the advent of console gaming will have some strong opinions on the list, and Weiss does a great job of laying out the argument and covering every console that existed in the 10 years from 77-87. The history amassed here is amazing, and includes great and interesting interviews with creators and their personal journey through the game development, plus somehow he found past reviews, which can be amusing to read!

Great for nostalgia, for learning about the history of console gaming, and seeing how far gaming has developed in the last 35 years.
