In 2009, she quit her full-time Teaching English as a Second Language job to finally begin writing "that book", letting her over-active imagination pour out onto the digital pages much to everyone's horror. The catch phrase "I didn't know you had such a dark imagination" only fueled her to write more, where her love for Norse mythology and gods finally got the spotlight.

Dark Deceit by Lauren Dawes was my first introduction to the author’s work and after reading this book it most certainly will not be my last! From the intense first pages to the heart pounding ending I was enthralled by the author’s immense talent. She really captured the essence of Norse Mythology and coupled it with her own unique blend of the paranormal. I followed up on a few sources that the author used and she really did put a lot of research into writing this book and it really shows.
This book has a little something for everyone – romance, drama, mystery, violence, death, love, loyalty, friendship etc. I give this wonderfully written book 5/5 stars – I had a hard time putting it down and when I absolutely had to, I couldn’t quite get Korvain (the irresistibly dangerous Mare) & Bryn (the intelligent, sexy Valkyrie) out of my head. If you especially love books by authors’ Gena Showalter & J.R. Ward then you will love the Dark Series by Lauren Dawes. I cannot wait for the next book Dark Desire!! - Novel Words by Jessica
