Description
After Elle Townsend is dumped by her hockey star boyfriend Christian Riley on the eve of the championship playoffs, she devises a plan for sweet revenge—a fake romance with Christian's arch-rival.
Preston Lawrence takes his hockey career very seriously because brawling on the ice is the only thing he’s good at. With the championship trophy and his contract extension on the line, he needs to figure out a way to control his temper that always flares and gets him ejected whenever he faces his rival. So, when a heartbroken blonde asks Preston for a photo with him to try to make Christian jealous, he raises the stakes.
Known for avoiding the spotlight, Preston kisses Elle in front of a crowd of sports reporters, certain the video will go viral. Their “fake” kiss felt a little too real for Elle and Preston. It looks real to Christian too, who goes ballistic when he sees Elle in the stands wearing Preston’s jersey, and holding up a sign that insults the size of Christian’s “stick.” Infuriating Christian helps Preston keep his head in the game so his team could win game one of four.
That’s why he suggests to Elle that they keep up their charade through the championships. Christian and Preston have a complicated history.
Their rivalry intensifies further when they begin to fight over Elle. As Elle and Preston grow closer, secrets unravel, causing Elle to question if Preston's feelings are genuine or just a part of his revenge plot against Christian.
Will Preston be able to convince Elle that his feelings for her are real, or will Christian find a way to win her back?

Review:
I really enjoyed this book it was the perfect fake dating to love story romance novel. The characters all grow and develop as the story goes even some you might not think can not redeem themselves. The plot lines is smooth and the story line flows well and wraps up perfectly in my mind and sets up for the next book in the series. I'm excited and already anticipating to read L.A. Hart’s next book in the Shot at Love Series
Thank you L.A. Hart, Editor’s Choice Publishing, and Netgalley for the advance copy of Revenge Puck

This book is a light-hearted romance. The FMC was truly relatable and made me feel seen. As a woman who isn't a size 0 and the intrusive thoughts that maybe as a chunkier woman that a man who is a hockey god wouldn't want us. Some of the things I loved most about this book was the Banter between Elle and Preston. It naturally built their romance and made me love the pairing even more. I loved that the aspect of the book starts out as a fake-dating relationship and moves into something more. I can't wait to read more!
While, this book certainly ticks off all the boxes of a sports romance it did feel a bit shallow in places that I was expecting it to feel deeper. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a fun, loving, feel good sports romance.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book!

Revenge Puck by L.A. Hart is a fun and fiery sports romance that combines betrayal, fake relationships, and intense rivalries. After her boyfriend dumps her before a major hockey playoff, Elle plots revenge by teaming up with Christian’s rival, Preston. What starts as a simple plan to make Christian jealous quickly escalates as the chemistry between Elle and Preston becomes undeniable. The story is full of twists, passion, and plenty of heated moments, making it an enjoyable read for fans of love triangles and sports drama.

Revenge Puck by L. A. Hart
She has just been dumped in a terrible way, and wants to make him suffer. So she tries to get a selfie with his nemesis, and former friend, that turns into fake dating, lots of OM Drama too.
This was such a great read! Hockey/sports romance is one of my favs of course but this had some excellent elements, with a little sprinkling spice but not a lot. Overall well written and enjoyable.

Revenge Puck by L.A. Hart is a fast-paced sports romance that blends intense emotion, revenge, and an undeniable attraction between its main characters. Set in the high-energy world of professional hockey, the book explores themes of betrayal, forgiveness, and personal growth, all wrapped in the familiar tension of a second-chance romance.
Story & Setting
The novel centers around Brielle, a woman who has distanced herself from the professional hockey scene after a painful breakup with Zane, a star player with a grudge. Zane’s initial motivation in reconnecting with Brielle is revenge, but as the story progresses, the emotional layers of their past and present begin to unfold. The story is set against the backdrop of the world of professional hockey, a setting that Hart captures well through the lens of both the sport and the off-ice drama.
The book combines moments of high-octane hockey action with more intimate, personal exchanges, offering readers a balanced mix of both. The pacing is quick, with a plot that doesn’t linger too long on one note—whether it’s the tension between Brielle and Zane or the ongoing drama of their separate lives. It moves efficiently, making it easy to stay engaged throughout the book.
Plot & Pacing
While the plot follows some familiar romance tropes—particularly the "revenge romance" angle—the author adds enough emotional complexity to make the story feel fresh. Brielle’s struggle with trust, Zane’s journey of redemption, and the push and pull between them creates a plot that is predictable in places but still enjoyable due to its emotional stakes.
The pacing is consistent, moving from one moment of conflict to the next without dragging, though some readers may find the early chapters a bit slow as the backstory and dynamics between the characters are established. Once the characters are firmly entrenched in the push-pull of their relationship, the plot accelerates, and the book becomes harder to put down.
Character Development
Brielle and Zane are both flawed but relatable characters. Brielle is a strong, independent woman who has learned to protect herself after her relationship with Zane fell apart. Her internal conflict—dealing with the pain of their past while also trying to open herself up again—forms a central emotional arc in the story. Zane, on the other hand, is driven by a sense of revenge, but as the story progresses, he is forced to confront his own vulnerabilities and feelings for Brielle.
While the central focus is on Brielle and Zane, there are secondary characters that add depth to the narrative. However, they don’t always get as much development as one might hope, and some feel more like supporting plot devices rather than fully fleshed-out individuals.
Themes
The main themes in Revenge Puck are forgiveness, second chances, and the impact of past actions. Brielle and Zane’s journey is about letting go of grudges and learning how to trust again, not just in each other but in themselves. There’s also an underlying exploration of redemption—Zane’s desire for revenge ultimately giving way to a deeper understanding of his feelings for Brielle.
The book does a good job of addressing these emotional themes without becoming overly heavy-handed. The characters’ growth feels organic, even if the plot at times relies on familiar romance formulas.
Writing Style & Tone
L.A. Hart’s writing is accessible and direct, with a tone that matches the intensity of the characters’ emotions. The dialogue feels real, and the chemistry between Brielle and Zane is palpable. The writing is straightforward, allowing the focus to remain on the characters' evolving relationship rather than on overly descriptive passages or complex world-building.
While the romance and tension are the main focus, Hart does provide enough insight into the world of professional hockey to make the setting feel authentic without bogging down the story with unnecessary details. The pacing is fast, but the emotional moments are given time to breathe, ensuring that readers feel the weight of the characters' actions.
Criticism
While Revenge Puck is an enjoyable read, it does follow a fairly standard structure that could be predictable for some readers, especially those familiar with the revenge romance genre. There are few surprising twists, and some secondary characters lack depth. A stronger focus on expanding the supporting cast could have added more dimension to the story.
Additionally, while the romance is compelling, the emotional resolution at the end might feel somewhat rushed, with the characters’ growth and reconciliation happening quickly after the climax.
Conclusion
Revenge Puck is a solid, engaging sports romance that will appeal to fans of second-chance romance, hockey, and revenge-driven plots. L.A. Hart effectively combines a fast-paced narrative with emotional depth, making for an enjoyable read. While the plot may not be groundbreaking, the chemistry between the leads and the emotional payoff will resonate with many readers.
It’s a recommended read for those looking for a quick, steamy romance with a bit of emotional intensity and a sports backdrop.

A quick and delightful romance about a hair stylist of got dumped by her boyfriend of five months who decides to fake date his nemesis.
It was really a fast paced book, by I really enjoyed it. Getting to know Elle and Preston was really nice and they do make a cute couple. Christian - the ex boyfriend - was not a nice guy at the beginning of the book. But he changed a but by the end of it and I'm happy to find out book 2 will be about him.
The romance itslef, even though was fast and dramatic, undeslined the need these two had to find someone who really loved them for who they were. And it made them grow. And Preston's jealousy was off the chart, which makes it a good plus!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC, all opinons are my own

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.
First time reading this author and I really liked it. So funny! Especially Preston's POV. A quick, one-sitting read that's the start of a series. I will definitely continue with the next book. Each of the characters show growth throughout the story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Revenge Puck (ARC) by L.A Hart
"I love you, Elle. And no matter what answer you give me today, I'm not giving up on you or us. Ever. You're end game for me.
I'll be here waiting for you, however long it takes."
I’m such a sucker for a hockey romance! I loved reading Elle & Preston’s story 💕 and excited to read Christian & Maya’s story next ✨
Thank You Net Galley for the ARC 🫶🏻

Revenge Puck goes down so easily! If you love hockey romance and grumpy/sunshine this is the book for you. I LOVED Elle and her best friend Audrey who talked her off many an insecure ledge. I also loved that Christian had a redemption arc as I felt it would have been too tropey without it.
I will be pre-ordering Maya's book as soon as we can!

Exerpt from my review posted to CannonBall Read 17: "There’s a lot I liked about Revenge Puck. While this is a romance, Elle feels very real and grounded outside of the relationships with the men in her life. She is confident in herself and her sexuality. She struggles with not being the expected model-thin beautiful WAG, but it doesn’t define her identity. Her conversations with Audrey show the strength of their friendship and I appreciated how Elle took Audrey’s advice to reframe her thinking about various situations. Preston is the character who experiences the more notable growth. The author slowly reveals Preston’s complicated family dynamics and why he is so enraged by Christian. Preston is challenged to let go of his anger and to find a life outside of hockey. All the emotional growth is balanced out by what is essentially a fun and lightly sexy read. I look forward to reading Christian’s redemption story in the upcoming sequel."

I absolutely love a hockey series, and this book is no different! I was hooked from the start as we followed Elle and Preston’s fast and furious romance come to life. I loved the different point of views and enjoyed the depth of these characters. Hey when you know you know and I was rooting for them all along. I can not wait for book 2 to come out and I will be preordering the minute it does! Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy! I can’t wait to purchase this and add it to my collection. I give the book 5 out of 5 stars!

Like many girls these days, I’m a sucker for a good hockey romance. In fact, I went through a phase where I devoured them at an unhealthy rate. So how could I turn down an arc of one in exchange for a review?
At first I was worried I wasn’t going to enjoy it because the beginning felt rushed, when her ex was dumping her. But I was wrong, I really enjoyed this book. Was it a little predictable? Sure. But the banter was good, and the chemistry was there. Preston was a hot “wooly mammoth” and would do anything for his family but also beat the crap out of somebody on the ice for just looking at him wrong. Elle and her best friend were entertaining, the spice was good, and the book held my attention. I will definitely be reading the next one in the series when it comes out! Looking forward to her ex showing us some redeeming qualities 🤞🏻

Preston, known for his tendency to avoid the limelight, kissed Ellie in front of a crowd of sports reporters, confident that the video would go viral. Their "fake" kiss seemed more real to both Ellie and Preston than they had intended.
They continued pretending, and the game continued, but eventually, it no longer felt like pretending.
The feelings became real.
The chemistry between these characters was palpable.
The book was a thrilling and exciting read, full of unexpected events.

This started with the two of them using each other to get back at her ex/his rival but soon enough she’s visiting his home and meeting his family.
His contract’s in jeopardy and he’s going to have to move away from DC and his family to keep supporting them.
A wonderful multi-POV Hockey Romance with a twist of fake dating and a whole heaping of catching feelings this is definitely not one to miss if you’re a fan of sports romances or fake dating novels.
It definitely has some spice too so if that’s your style, give it a go.
This was my first ARC and I struck absolute gold, I only picked it up this evening.
Thank you to LA Hart and the publishers for letting me read this before it comes out Feb 1st!

Revenge Puck wastes absolutely no time in getting going, as poor Elle gets dumped on page 1! It moves really quickly and soon had me laughing out loud at Elle's first meeting with Preston. A revenge romance is just so satisfying and it was really well done!
I know absolutely nothing about the sport either, but it was totally accessible (no sports knowledge required!) and was so easy to read. The fact that I sat and binged it in one evening probably shows that!
I'm already invested in the next book in the series which focuses on another couple (I'm trying to avoid spoilers!). At first I thought there might be a plot hole relating to them, but when I saw the final page confirming whose book was next, I was sure that it wasn't a plot hole at all, and that all would be revealed in time in book two!
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley, but this is my voluntary and honest review.

Fun hockey romance with solid characters, multiple sub plots, a rollercoaster of emotions and of course a HEA, with lead in to follow on. Fun for all romance fans.

What happens when you're starting hockey player breaks things off with you before the first championship game, tells you he's been sleeping with other women, and he didn't care if you slept with any other player except his arch rival? Well you come up with a plan to mess with his head by pretending go do just that. Nothing could go wrong right? Until they actually catch feelings for each other.
Revenge Puck was a quick fun read filled with some ups and downs and relatable characters.

This book had everything I enjoy in a hockey romance! It had grumpy sunshine, fake dating and a love triangle. I was giggling at the banter between Preston and Elle. The way they met was unconventional with her wanting to get a picture to make her ex jealous.
There were lots of ups and downs with them trying to navigate turning a fake relationship into a real one alongside Preston trying to win the series.
I enjoyed reading about these characters and liked the side characters they brought and interesting twists to the story.
Would definitely recommend reading if you enjoy a ice hockey romance!

I finished this one fairly quickly. Every time when I felt I should take a break I kept telling myself maybe one more page. By the end of the night I was already 3/4ths of the way finished. What started out as a way to get back at Elle’s ex turned into something real between her and rival team player Preston Lawrence. There were definitely up and down moments of emotion. I would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys grumpy hockey players, love triangles, and fake dating.

Elle Townsend is dumped by her hockey boyfriend, Christian Riley, on the eve of the championship playoffs. She devises a plan for revenge—a fake romance with Christian's arch-rival, Preston Lawrence.
I actually really enjoyed this story and the plot. This was my first book by this author, and I wasn't disappointed at all. The beginning and middle were good, but once we hit the semi-middle, it was emotional and explained a lot of things. If you want a fake romance with hockey, I highly suggest this book.
Thann you, Netgellay, and BooksGoSocial for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.

A fake dating, grumpy sunshine, only one bed, AND hockey romance. What more could I ask for?
I was pretty entertained by this book. It was a super quick and fun read. I finished it in a day!
I am rating it a 3.75⭐️. The beginning was a bit rough to get through. Something about the dialogue felt slightly off. I fought through and was pleasantly surprised that it started to flow better.
I do feel as though the characters lacked a bit of depth. I would have liked to get more information/background on the characters.
I also caught a couple of spelling mistakes that bugged me a bit.
Overall a fun easy read! I am curious to see how Christian and Maya’s book will go.

A great cosy read - I think this is one of my favourite ice hockey romances so far. I love the character of Elle and her positive energy, she's so down to earth too. Nothing however beats the ending which is -chefs kiss- perfect! Excited for Maya and Christian's book.

I love a sports romance and hockey is my favourite. Fake dating is one of my favourite tropes and this one was so good. I honestly didn’t expect that story line at all.
I’m not a fan of the third act breakup but it felt more like a pause than a break up. The plot twist that included the MMC’s sister really threw me for a loop and I loved it! Had my gasping and laughing. It was just an overall good read and can’t wait for the second one!

Hockey, revenge, & grumpy/sunshine! I really enjoyed the characters of this book and can’t wait to see more of them in maya’s book. Thank you so much for the ARC!
The one thing I would’ve liked to see more of from the story line was interactions with the other hockey players. I get that preston wasn’t exactly a team player but I dont like how the rest of the team just hated him from the get go. But otherwise great read!

This book is perfect for anyone who loves Elle Kennedy's Off Campus series! I love reading romance books, especially the kind that leaves me laughing and swooning, and Revenge Puck is a lighthearted, fun, and fast-paced.
The story kicks off with a revenge plot involving, Elle who after being dumped by her hockey-playing boyfriend teams up with his rival, Preston, to make him jealous. The chemistry between Elle and Preston is magnetic, and as they fake date to mess with her ex, sparks fly between them. But what starts as a scheme to hurt her ex's ego quickly turns into real feelings.
Revenge Puck has all the drama of a sports rivalry and the tension of fake dating. It also has some seriously swoon-worthy moments. It has the grumpy sunshine trope with Preston being a tough hockey player with a soft side, and Elle's positive energy really brings out the best in everyone around her. Watching them go from enemies to lovers makes you wanna keep reading.
The pacing is really well done, and the plot is very bingeable. It had me hooked from the first chapter, and I ended up reading it all in one sitting. Revenge Puck has that perfect balance of swoon and spicy, keeping things exciting without it being too much.
Overall, I would recommend this to fans of sports romance, fake dating, or anyone who loves a feel-good romance with lots of drama, humor, and heart. Looking forward to the next one in the series!

When her "boyfriend" Christian dumps her before a game, Elle comes up with the perfect revenge plan: pretending to date his archival, Preston Lawrence. Except that it quickly becomes clear that the two are not pretending.
I love a hockey romance, and was so excited to jump in to this one. It started a bit embarrassingly close to home (like, Elle, I was one dumped after being intimate), but I really enjoyed that Elle was a salon owner who discussed the stresses of owning her own business. I really do wish we had gotten to see more of her as a businesswoman, as I thought that was a really interesting aspect of her life. I also appreciated the setting of Greensboro, North Carolina, although I wish we had gotten more of a discussion of how jarring it can be to play hockey in more football obsessed town. Finally, I admit to guessing how a subplot with Preston's sister, Maya would unfold about halfway through the book, but it did make me excited to read the next book in the series.
This is a fun, spicy hockey romance that I would recommend to fans of Helena Hunting or Elle Kennedy.

Hockey romance and fake dating! I love most hockey romance books and I loved this one. The characters were great together and I always love a good fake dating trope. This is perfect for anyone that loves a spicy hockey romance and wants a quick read. I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t am looking forward to the next book in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC!

L.A. Hart's Revenge Puck is a book that hooks you from the very first chapter and doesn’t let go. This fast-paced, captivating romance perfectly blends sports drama, fake dating, and sizzling chemistry. Elle thought things were going great with her pro hockey player boyfriend—until he dumps her right before the playoff game. Determined to make him jealous, she sets her sights on his archenemy, Preston, in a plan that begins as a relationship of convenience. But, as with any good romance, what starts as a strategy soon turns into something far more complicated—and real.
As a huge fan of sports romance, and especially hockey romances, I can't get enough of how the players are always ready to protect their leading ladies. There's something so swoon-worthy about their fierce loyalty and the way they’ll go to any lengths for the woman they care about. It’s like you can practically feel the testosterone leaping off the pages, with each player making you fall for them in their own unique way. And in Revenge Puck, the grumpy/sunshine dynamic and the fake-dating trope are the perfect bonus to make this story even more irresistible.

That was an amazingly hot and pucking good.
I adored this novel this weekend, the right kind of romance I was looking for.
Hot, Spicy, the plot and story was also AMAZING

I went thought this in less than 24 hours! It was definitely my first 5 star read for 2025 and I just finished my reread of Fourth Wing. I loved their entire relationship from beginning to end. I immediately started searching for Christian and Maya's store and will not be able to wait till May!
This is 100% on my reread list and I need a physical copy ASAP.

This was a cute, quick read. I loved the tension between Preston and Christian because of their past. Busy most of all, Elle’s relationship with Preston is what made the book so good. While I usually don’t love third act breakups, this one felt easy enough to get past since it could be felt coming from a mile away given all the past tension stated above from Christian and Preston.

4.5 ⭐️
I may be a little biased since I’m from Greensboro 🤣…
but Preston and Elle are cute together. I love a good protective and grumpy hockey player.
…but wait there’s more. You’ll just have to read it 😉

Absolutely fabulous hockey romance!
The way it starts out with the FMC getting dumped is crazy. But she decided to get back at him by fake dating his biggest rival.
Hockey romance is my favorite and this one did not disappoint.
The love triangle is a bit messy but it keeps you interested and wanting to know what comes next.

Loved the book, the character development and the underlying theme of knowing your worth. I was hooked on this book from page 1 and read it in one day!

I absolutely love a sports romance, and hockey is my favorite!
The fake dating trope is one I can never resist, and Revenge Puck does it so well. There are a few plot twists and surprises along the way that have me excited for hopefully more books in this universe. I didn’t expect to be so invested in the characters, but they all have many layers and depth to them and grow throughout the story.
Revenge Puck is a really refreshing and light read all the way through! Main character, Elle, is dumped by her pro hockey boyfriend right before a big game, and admits to being a big player the whole time she thought they were together. But Elle isn't about to let him get away with it. Enter Preston Lawrence—her ex’s biggest rival. Elle convinces Preston to fake date her to make her ex jealous, and things quickly spiral out of control in the best way possible. Their banter is hilarious, and the tension between them is rewarding in the end! This book also has a bit of the grumpy sunshine vibes!
I would say the only thing that made it not a 5 star read for me is that both characters let their insecurities get in the way ever step throughout the story and gets old after awhile, just not my favorite part of a story!

Wow what can I say I devoured this book in about 5 hours!!
Meet the feisty Elle and get ready to go on an adventure! The book kicks off with poor Elle getting dumped by Christian the Hockey Star and soon Elle plots her revenge with the help of her friend Audrey.
I’ve only read a handful of Sports Romances and this one is right up there being my favourite!
L.A.Hart writes the characters in this book so well that you love all of them and just want to join the crew.
Christian and Preston battle on and off the Ice but who will win Elle’s heart?

Fake dating, hockey, grumpy/sunshine romance.
When Elle is dumped by her star hockey boyfriend, she decides to use his archrival to get him back. What happens when things start to feel real?
This was a cute quick read. I liked the banter between the two main characters and the chemistry. I think the fake dating trope maybe getting over done, there was nothing exceptional in this book that I have not read in others. I did like the twist at the end, and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this title. This is my very honest review.

Short, cute, fake dating for revenge romance.
Loved the characters
This was romance/plot heavy, hockey light.
There were a lot of funny moments too.

I don’t normally choose hockey romances, but hear me out …
Preston. Fucking. Lawrence.
Hello, sir. Where can I find me one of you?
Elle gets dumped right before the championship series starts, and she plots revenge by doing anything she can to get back at her ex… by jumping into a fake relationship with his arch nemesis, Preston. At least, it only starts off as fake?
By the end of the book, through all the trials and errors of finding their way, Elle and Preston end up together. Christian finds out he’s a father to Preston’s nephew, and the two become amicable (we think).
I can’t wait for the next book. I hope Christian steps up and is the best dad. I hope Maya still loves him and they end up together. And I hope P and C become friends again.

I loved how this book immediately jumped into the plot by starting with the breakup. I also really enjoyed Preston’s character and how he supported Elle right away, even helping her get revenge on her ex, Christian. This story was both cute and funny, and Preston has so much more depth to him than just a grumpy hockey player. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sports or hockey romance, as well as fans of the fake dating trope. If you liked Rival Darling, you’ll love this book if you are looking for a non-YA version.

I loved this book. The guy was an asshole in the beginning, but Elle wasn't afraid to set him straight. I loved the character development, and the romance was so sweet

This was a fast paced hockey romance and this was a book that was really enjoyable. Both Elle and Preston worked together for faking dating and they pulled off a great fake dating trope.
This was my first book by this author, I would read read future releases by this author.

From the beginning, I loved that this book had the guy be the one that wasn't looking for a hookup like most books do. I also really liked having both point of views for this book.
This book is about Preston who is a professional hockey player, and he is so dedicated to hockey, that he hasn't had any type of relationship or hookup in years. He had something burn him in the past that has caused him to have a temper that really comes out during games, especially when playing his arch nemesis Christian. He will do anything to make Christian's life miserable.
It turns out that there is someone else that doesn't like Christian and wants to make him jealous. In comes Elle, who was just dumped by Christian. She comes up with a plan to meet Preston and take a selfie to make Christian mad. The book follows from their first fake kiss to the complications they have trying to fake a relationship when they live in two different cities.
I have never read L.A. Hart before but am already waiting for the next book in this series.
Read if you like:
-Hockey
-Spice
-Grumpy/sunshine relationships
-Friend and family drama
-Double POV

3.5 stars
This was a really cute take on fake dating in order to annoy someone who wronged both characters. It was a fun and easy read, however it still had important character development. Any miscommunication was dealt with in sensible time without letting it drag on. Even though Im not the biggest fan of insta-love this didnt bother me too much in this case, however I would have enjoyed to learn a bit more about the characters in order to connect with them better. Irregardless, I'll definitely check out the second book once it's out!
This book has similar vibes as Hannah Grace and Gabriella Gomez's books, so if you enjoyed them or enjoy hockey romances it would be ideal!

I finished this book in 2-3 days and it was such a cute book! The MFC decides to get revenge against her playboy ex and the best way to do that is to get with his competitor from another team. The MMC goes along with it and it gets better from there. Love this book. It definitely should be #1 in hockey romance ❤️

Thank you Net galley for giving me a copy of this book. I really enjoyed this romance as it was a quick and fun read. This book starts off with Elle getting dumped by her boyfriend, Christian Riley, who is a famous hockey player. When they break up, Riley tells Elle she can date whoever she wants and he won't care unless its Preston Lawrence, his rival. This of course motivates Elle to meet Preston and make Riley jealous. It was a lot of fun watching Elle and Preston's romance go from fake dating to real feelings being involved. The banter and interactions between Elle and Preston had me giggling and wanting to read more. For those who like to know the tropes this book has fake dating, grumpy/sunshine romance and sports/hockey romance. I would definitely recommend this book. :)

Fake dating and an ice hockey romance! This is my go to kind of book and this one did not disappoint!!
Elle gets dumped by her boyfriend who happens to be a pro ice hockey player and masters a plan to fake date his biggest rival on the ice!!
The story was a great read and the characters were ones you get invested with! I can’t wait for the 2nd book in the series following a couple of the side characters from this book.
If you’re a lover of ice hockey, fake dating turning into something more then give this one a go!!

I absolutely loved Revenge Puck! The book started out kind of slow but before I knew it I was hooked. I loved Preston and Elles love story and I am dying to read Christian and Mayas story!!!!!

I received an ARC from Netgalley!
Meet Ellie, a hairdresser with a broken heart. The breaker? A hockey super star who tells her it wasn't serious. His parting gift is saying she's now "free to date other players" all except for one.
Meet Preston, broody hockey super star and the one guy Elle is "forbidden" to date. So who is she going to ask for a pretend date? Ding ding ding!
I absolutely loved Elle and Preston. Their chemistry comes fast but reads quite authentic, two flirty people with a common enemy. Their exchanges got me clutching the kindle to my chest in laughter, sighs and sometimes sadness.
Elle is the perfec portrait of someone confident but who still has insecurities. I loved how she thinks o f them but doesn't focus on them 24/7. It's refreshing to read something when there's insecurities but there's also still confidence. Balance is key, because balance is real.
I loved it. It was a great read, fun, refreshing, fast paced but not rushed. The side characters had layers to them, made them feel like real people and not just plot devices. I came to care for them as well as for Elle and Preston.
My only comment is that there were a few moments when I felt things were tiny bit rushed, little bits. But overall I think it was a very cute read.

a grumpy x sunshine hockey romance??? nothing could be more perfect!!! it was such a fast paced, easy read that i never wanted to put it down! i loved seeing Preston’s character growth the more we got to know him and Elle’s banter seriously had me giggling at times, especially with the “ussie”. i really loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!!!

4 ⭐
I really enjoyed the story between Elle and Preston. Although at first I did find it moved incredibly quickly I found I loved the story and the characters in it.
I am so happy this isn part of a series because I cannot wait for the second book and I am personally cheering on for one for our girl Aubrey.
Thank you for NetGalley and the author for the ARC.

Summary:
Elle gets dumped by her pro hockey player boyfriend Christian. She and her best friend, Audrey get the idea get back at Christian by getting with Christian’s arch nemesis also hockey player Preston. I think you can guess what happens after that 😍😍
What I liked
Overall my favorite part of this book was the characters. Even though their was only a few main characters if felt like I had known them my whole life. I loved the different emotional connections between the characters and their backstory’s which get slowly revealed over the course of the book.
What I didn’t like
My main complaint is that I felt that some scenes were more drawn out then others but some of my favorite scenes went by super fast. Now I could complain about the “Insta-Love” but honestly it felt fun to me. Now if this isn’t your favorite thing I wouldn’t recommend it. But I personally liked it!
Writing Style/Pacing
The book was super super fast paced in my opinion. Finished it faster than I’ve finished a book in a long time! The writing was super easy to understand and was an overall great palate cleanser in between fantasy books.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion I really really enjoyed this book! Would strongly recommend for any fans of hockey (keep in mind it’s a small plot point) romance and easy writing!
Thank you to NetGalley, Editor's Choice Publishing and L.A Hart for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!! 😁😁

Revenge Puck was an absolute delight, and definitely put me in a romance read after being in a slump with the genre for several months. This romance features one of my favourite tropes which is fake dating, which is does SO WELL, and its obviously a sports romance. Overall I would give this a 4.25/5 stars.
This story is quickly paced both in its writing and actual plot, which is my only critique of this story. I wish it could have been a slightly story novel, because I was so in love with it, and wish it things didn’t have to happen as quickly as they did. The rapid pacing of the book did cause this romance to be slightly “instalovey” but I surprisingly didn’t mind it. The plot itself was fun even though the pacing was “quick”.
Aside from the pacing, I do think this book did so many things well. I loved the characters and side characters. None of them felt flat for me, and I think they all played a part in the story. I also loved the romance itself and how both characters had to grown in order to make the relationship work. The banter and the jealousy in this was incredible!! And it didn’t feel as toxic as many other romances I read.
Overall I would recommend this book, and will be continuing with this series as I am super invested in the next character’s story.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC

Perfect for fans of Elle Kennedy. A classic grumpy sunshine romance set in my college town! Elle was relatable in her self-conscious moments while still being strong and knowing her worth. Preston is a classic broody leading man who learns from his mistakes and could have any girl swooning over him. The high stakes vibes of two hockey teams in the finals as the backdrop for this love story made it fun and exciting to read.

This book was such a fun read! I absolutely loved Elle and Preston's characters. The story flowed well, and the pacing was perfect. The ending really wrapped up the story well and has me waiting to read the next book so I can keep following all the characters. Preston is a total cinnamon roll, and I couldn't help but picture Jason Kelce every time they mentioned his hair and beard. It was nice to see the insecurities that men feel in this book as well. I highly recommend this anyone that likes romance books, hockey players, and just a touch of spice.

I received this book as an ARC through Netgalley, and it did not disappoint.
Elle runs her own salon with her best friend. She's a sweet and stubborn woman dealing with her insecurities. Insecurities that get worse after her "boyfriend" leaves her to focus on hockey and puck bunnies. She then hatches a plan to get back at him with his enemy Preston Lawrence. Although, their fake relationship begins to toe the line between reality and pretend.
This book was so cute and funny. I loved the happily ever after with every character getting a shot at their own redemption arcs. The pacing bounced back and forth from feeling a little slow at times to being rushed, but it all flows together nicely. It was such a fun read, and I can't wait to read more from this author!

𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪: 4/5 𝓢𝓣𝓐𝓡𝓢 ⭐️
I really enjoyed Revenge Puck by L.A. Hart! The story was such a fun mix of the fake dating and grumpy/sunshine tropes, which are some of my favorites. Elle Townsend’s plan to make her ex jealous by pretending to date his hockey rival, Preston Lawrence, hooked me right from the start. The chemistry between Elle and Preston was so well-written—it started off playful and fiery but grew into something much deeper as the story progressed.
The dual perspectives were a highlight for me because I loved getting into both Elle and Preston’s heads. Elle’s journey from heartbreak to finding herself again was inspiring, and Preston’s gruff yet caring personality totally won me over. Their banter had me laughing at times and swooning at others.
The pacing kept me turning pages quickly, though I do wish some moments were explored in a little more depth. Also, there were a few minor editing issues (like misspelled words) that pulled me out of the story briefly, but it didn’t ruin the experience for me.
Overall, Revenge Puck is such a fun and emotional read that I’d definitely recommend to anyone who loves sports romances or fake dating stories. L.A. Hart is an author I’ll be keeping my eye on!
Thank you so much to L.A.Hart, Editor’s Choice Publishing & NetGalley for the ARC!

From the very first page, Revenge Puck had me absolutely hooked. Elle and Preston’s story is everything I love in a cute, cheesy hockey romance—a perfect blend of heart, humor, and heat. Their chemistry is undeniable, and watching their relationship grow was such a delight. I especially appreciated their development as a couple; they felt real, flawed, and utterly endearing.
The side characters truly shone in this story as well. Maya brought so much warmth and depth, while Christian was the kind of character you love to hate, keeping the plot dynamic and entertaining. Some of the characters’ personal growth arcs added an extra layer of depth that I thoroughly enjoyed.
While I loved nearly every aspect of the book, I did feel that the relationship between Elle and Preston progressed a bit too quickly. The pacing felt a little rushed at times, which is why I’m giving this a 4.5-star rating instead of a full 5. That said, it’s still an easy, feel-good read that delivers on all the hockey romance vibes I adore.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to review Revenge Puck ahead of its publication. If you’re a fan of sweet, swoony romances with a dash of sports drama, this book is for you!

Who doesn’t love a fake dating/revenge plot line? And throw in spice and hockey? Sign me up! Elle and Preston had their motives to start their fake romance but I loved how quickly they started to fall. While I wish we could have gotten to know the mains a bit more, the information we learned gave enough insight into who they are as characters. This book could easily be a standalone but I cannot wait for the next installment! The spice is definitely there but there were moments we were left a little high and dry (no pun intended lol). The ending was a tad stressful but we know it’s a guaranteed HEA so that’s good! I absolutely devoured this in a day!

I really enjoyed Revenge Puck. I think my favorite character was Preston aka the Wooly Mammoth lol. He’s a grumpy on the outside but totally softie on the inside type of character. Elle was a perfect fit for him. She brought out the best in everyone around her. I think he ‘fake’ relationship in the beginning was perfect for them because they both had some real feelings but were to gun shy to be honest with themselves and each other. All in all this was a really good read and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Grumpy Sunshine
Hockey Romance
Fake Dating
When Elle Townsend is dumped by her hot, hockey player boyfriend, Christian Riley the day before the first game of the championship, she’s left feeling used and discarded. When her best friend suggests Elle form an alliance with Preston, her ex’s nemesis and hockey’s grumpiest defender, the two launch a psychological warfare campaign against Christian that will leave them all on thin ice.
This book is a hockey rom-com with medium spice and top tier banter. There were times throughout the book that the story felt rushed and the female main character was wishy washy with her feelings. She initially came across as strong and independent, but would go back in forth between being strong and completely indecisive.
The chemistry between the two main characters was great, and I enjoyed their interactions most of the time. The supporting characters were also very engaging and added to the feel of the book. The overall story was good, but left me wishing for better communication between the main characters.
I rated the book 3.5 stars because I did enjoy it and look forward to seeing the series progress. There were a lot of typos and errors that I highlighted throughout the book. It didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story but I know some readers lower book ratings for things like that.

This was sooo good! A fantastic start to the series! Preston & Elle were such a good duo! The way they came together was magnetic! The dynamic of character forming was incredible! The author set up the world perfectly, introducing the characters and their emotions was a fantastic build to the way the series will be set out. It was one of those books where you didn’t know when the next turn of events was going to happen or how it was going to pan out and for that.. it build the air of suspense for the reader to push for more! Preston’s apprehension for a relationship and distraction was intense and it showed his character growth from that throughout. Elle was battling a confidence due to being treated like dirt and the fact that she over came this with a bit of a revenge boost to find herself not only feeling better about herself but finding love too. Her friendship with Audrey was top tier!

I devoured this book in one sitting. I found myself completely wrapped up in the relationship between Elle and Preston. What starts as a fake payback relationship, I fell in love with both characters as they fell in love with each other. I physically couldn't put this book.
I already can't wait for the second in the series!

Had the chance to get an ARC for this book from Netgalley (thank you!!) and I wasn’t disappointed! The story follows Elle and Preston who team up to get revenge on Elle’s ex…but Preston also had a connection to the guy which we find out later. The book was perfectly paced and got me out of a reading slump!
Tropes: grumpy/sunshine, fake dating
Spice: 🌶️/5 (not closed door, but more “peek through the blinds” than super spicy scenes
Thanks again to Netgalley for the ARC!!

Loved the story and the ups and downs of the relationship. A bit different from other hockey romances. Looking forward to book 2

This was such a fun grumpy x sunshine hockey read! I enjoyed the fake dating trope a lot! I felt like there was a lot of miscommunication which isn’t my favorite. I felt like both of the main characters didn’t have a lot of critical thinking skills and always let their side character companions do all the hard thinking for them. Overall the vibes of this book were great and I had a fun time!

Not usually one for a miscommunication trope, but this one was done right. Greatly enjoyed this one!

T his was a fun hockey romance that I didn’t want to put down! Preston and Elle begin a fake relationship to get back at Elle’s ex, Christian, who just so happens to be Preston’s arch nemesis. Very quickly the pair realize that they have true feelings for one another (who would’ve thought?) and romance ensues!
Preston is definitely our resident grump, but we love him anyway. I really liked Elle’s character and felt she was easy to connect to. She is insecure about her body to a degree, but also confident in herself and grows to know her worth throughout the book.
There were definitely some sexy scenes, but I wouldn’t say this book was super spicy. It was definitely sexy and fun, though! I would definitely recommend if you like hockey romance & fake dating tropes! I am excited to read Maya and Christian’s story when it releases next!
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the eARC of this book. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading.

We love a hockey romance, I'm not usually one for miscommunication but this one really was good.
I loved the character development, the will they, won't they & the banter throughout. Really enjoyed it start to finish, a very sweet, easy read.

This is a revenge relationship done right!
Elle is absolutely dropped on her arse by Christian - can we take a moment for what a douche he is?! He literally says she's a 'nobody' and could spend the night with any of his team mates and he wouldn't care, anyone except Preston - his rival from another Hockey team.
So what does our girl Elle do? You guessed it, sets up a plan to have her photo taken with Preston to get under Christian's skin, and this plan works perfectly, so well in fact that Preston takes it one step further and kisses her in front of the paps who take their photo and videos and they go viral!
Preston is hooked from the first moment he lays eyes on Elle, there's something about her he's intrigued by, and it's not just the idea of psychological warfare with Christian.
The relationship is so lovely to read, while there's a bit of will they/won't they between Preston and Elle, I was so relieved that she didn't go back to Christian and the set up for book 2 is so good, I can't wait to read the next book and find out what happens with Christian and Maya!

Set in North Carolina and DC around the professional hockey championship series, Elle is dumped and told she could be with anyone except his rival on the other team, Preston.
This was my first book by this author, and I can't wait to read the next in the series! Preston has to work through some big anger issues. There is an added element related to family that adds complexity to the story. There were a few game moments, plus we get to see Preston handling being a free agent. The plot revolves around the hockey series (just two teams playing until one wins 4), making it a fun, quick read.
What I enjoyed:
🏒 Fake Dating / revenge
🏒 Grumpy hockey player
🏒 Sunshine hair stylist (and co-owner of the salon with her BFF)
🏒 Rival Teams
🏒 Dual POV
🏒 Best friends to rivals (her ex and MMC)
🏒 Secondary storyline setting up next in series
4 / 5 stars
Open door / spicy
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC!

This book was an enjoyable quick read, especially as a follow-up after Onyx Storm, but I couldn’t help feeling like the characters didn’t get enough time to truly develop. The timeline is really tight, which left little room for their relationship to evolve beyond the physical. The intimacy between the characters is definitely present, but I wanted more than just the steamy scenes. It felt like the deeper emotional connection was often skipped over in favor of the immediate heat, which made their bond feel a bit one-dimensional.

When I requested this I wasn’t aware that L.A Hart is a pen name of author Lane Hart. And i was OBSESSED with Lane Hart’s ‘Savage Little Games ‘. So I was so excited for this and I was not disappointed. I did like ‘Savage Little Games’ more than this because I prefer a mafia trope over a hockey player trope but that doesn’t mean I didn’t love it! I did want to slap Ellie when she let Christian treat her like that in the first pages but I knew her revenge with Preston was coming. So I held my feminist rage. Ellie sets up to have pictures taken with Preston to her under Christian‘s skin as Preston is Christian’s rival on the hockey circuit. The amount of pleasure I got when Christian slammed into Preston in chapter six was almost too much. I really like the dual POV because when the hockey scenes were happening Preston was describing it as he played, it wasn’t just Ellie watching the game. Preston has a temper and it is chef’s kiss.

Revenge puck by L. A. Hart
Revenge Puck was a quick read and is a good alternative if you need something light.
The language flows easily, the characters are relatable and the flow and pace of the story is great.
You get a bit of steam, but not too much and nothing dark or wild.
Overall, a book worth reading especially if you need a palate cleanser.
Tropes: hockey romance, independent woman, fake dating, rivalry, loyalty, family bonds

There’s nothing I love more than a good grumpy x sunshine hockey romance💘
Since the start of the book it was such an easy and fast paced read (I actually finished it the same day I started reading it), I loved the growth of Preston and Elle and how they discovered themselves throughout the book. Also it got me really excited about the next coming book about Christian’s and Maya’s story (can’t wait!!)
Thank you NetGalley and L.A Hart for the ARC!🫶🏻
4.5/5⭐️ I don’t give the book a 5 stars review just because at times it felt like the pacing was a little rushed but I absolutely enjoyed it anyways!

Thanks for NetGalley and L A Hart to receive this ARC. I love a good hockey romance mixed with fake dating. MMC Preston plays hockey for a team against Elle Townsend's ex boyfriend in a big game. Elle finds out about the rival on and off the ice. Elle present Preston with the idea of fake dating to make her ex jealous. Overall it was so cute.

ticks every box omg I WAS LITERALLY OBSESSED!!! I sped through this in one night and ended up finishing it at 2am on a work night - I was drained the next day but it was so worth it ugh I loved it so much

Thank you netgalley for sending me this arc!
This was such a fast, easy read. I devoured it in one sitting! If you want cheesy and fast paced this is the book for you!! I enjoy a hockey romance and I’m a big fan of the fake dating and grumpy sunshine tropes, so this ticked all the boxes. This was the perfect pallet cleanser in between some nitty gritty thrillers. I understand why some people felt the book was a bit rushed in terms of the timeline, but for me personally I didn’t see the issue with this, as I quite like a fairytale-esque romance that develops quickly. There was just the right amount of spice in this book, it felt natural and not forced and didn’t completely take over the plot. I was definitely frustrated by how the MMC handled a few situations, but it kept me engaged and wanting to find out how it worked out for him. Overall, I enjoyed the growth of Preston and Elle, and I’m super excited for Christian and Maya’s story!! This was my first book by this author and I’m already looking forward to reading more of their work!

This book was absolutely addictive—I was hooked from chapter one & finished it in a day! I loved the characters, and the ending has me so excited for the next book in the series.
- hockey player x hairstylist
- revenge on an ex
- fake dating to real dating
- dual pov
- curvy girl rep
- she's the exception to his "rules"
Overall, an incredible read, and I can’t wait for the next installment!
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC to review!
Feedback:
The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars is the number of typos in the ARC I received. I completely understand that it may still be undergoing final revisions, so a few errors would absolutely be expected. However, there were quite a few moments where I had to pause and decipher what was meant, which pulled me out of the story.

Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book was my introduction to Author L.A Hart & I really enjoyed the book, I couldn’t keep my hands off it. I’m a sucker for a hockey romance book along with fake dating. I adored Elle so much & enjoyed reading the growth between both her & Preston.
The amount of times that ‘cupcake was used’ was the only thing that gave me an ick.
Thank you NetGalley & L.A Hart for allowing me to read & review this book.

This is a perfect book if you’re not used to spicy chapters there is spice but it’s not as detailed as other books are which is a good in between.
This was such a fun read I was pleasantly surprised. It did move really fast at the beginning of the book so I was kinda lost and it was such an emotional rollercoaster throughout.
There was a lot of miscommunication which I’m not really a fan of but it gets cleared up pretty quickly. I hated Christian but he’s growing on me. I need the next book now. Loved the ending 😭

In recent years, I’ve been in my hockey era, which is probably why I devoured this book. Normally, I’m not a big fan of fake dating tropes, but this one hit differently. Who doesn’t love a girl like Elle trying to get back at her ex—with the help of his nemesis, Preston? While there were moments Elle frustrated me with her constant self-doubt (I just wanted to yell, “Girl, know your worth!”), I really appreciated the moments of redemption and the characters’ personal growth. The plot twist was a highlight—even though I guessed where it was heading within the first few chapters, it was still satisfying. A minor critique is that Elle and Preston’s relationship felt a bit rushed, but I loved it nonetheless. Also, a huge shoutout to Maya—she absolutely needs her own book!
Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and L.A Hart for providing an advanced reader’s copy 🤎

This was a cute fun read. When a simple plot for revenge turns into something more complex.
Watching both MC's grow and face their inner feelings head on was refreshing. I enjoyed this story line, and the plot was fun.
Overall, this was a quick enjoyable read, and I can't wait to see what the second book has in store for us!

I absolutely loved this book! Hockey romances are my ultimate comfort reads, and this one had everything I adore—drama, rivalry, and sizzling chemistry! Elle and Preston’s fake dating scheme was the perfect mix of angst and swoon-worthy moments, and I couldn’t get enough of their growing connection.
Preston completely stole my heart—his gruff exterior and hidden depth made him such a compelling character. And the way he and Elle challenged and supported each other? Perfection! The tension with Christian added just the right amount of drama without overshadowing the romance.
If you love fake dating, enemies-to-lovers, and hockey hunks with a soft side, this book is a must-read! I was hooked from page one and didn’t want it to end. Definitely adding this to my list of top-tier hockey romances! 🏒❤️🔥

Overview:
Elle Townsend is blindsided when her hockey-star boyfriend, Christian Riley, dumps her right before the championship playoffs. Determined to get back at him, she comes up with a plan—fake date his biggest rival, Preston Lawrence. Preston, known for his tough, no-nonsense attitude, agrees to play along.
What starts as a strategic move quickly turns into something neither of them expected. As Elle and Preston spend more time together, their fake relationship starts feeling very real—but with emotions involved, can either of them afford to take the risk?
First Impressions:
The book immediately hooked me with its fun, engaging setup. Fake dating and hockey rivalry? Sign me up. While I found Elle and Preston’s first interaction a little over the top, it also added to the drama in a way that made the story even more entertaining.
For the most part, the story felt surprisingly realistic—the emotional reactions, relationship development, and character struggles all unfolded naturally. I loved how the book balanced drama, humor, and heartfelt moments without feeling too forced.
Character Development & Relationships:
Elle is a strong yet relatable protagonist, trying to navigate heartbreak while figuring out what she really wants. Her growth from someone acting on impulse to someone understanding her own feelings was well-paced and satisfying.
Preston isn’t your typical “bad boy athlete.” He’s not a player, not reckless, and definitely not looking for casual romance… or romance in general. Instead, he’s blunt, emotionally guarded, and deeply protective of his younger sister, Maya. His tough exterior is a defense mechanism—he doesn’t let people in easily.
But aside from that softer, protective side, he’s also physically intense. Fighting is second nature to him, and he doesn’t hesitate to throw a punch if the situation calls for it. He’s not violent without reason, but he’s brutal in the way he handles conflict—whether it’s protecting his family, asserting dominance on the ice, or dealing with frustration in general. His aggressive nature makes him an even more interesting contrast to Elle, who is far more controlled and cautious in how she navigates emotions and situations.
And of course, I have to say it—I’m a total sucker for fake dating and grumpy-sunshine dynamics. The chemistry between Elle and Preston was fantastic, with their interactions shifting from playful tension to deep emotional connection. Their slow shift from pretending to something real was so well done, and I felt every moment of it.
One of the biggest surprises for me was how much I fell in love with Maya’s character. Preston’s relationship with his sister was such an important part of the story, and it added another emotional layer beyond just the romance. And when I found out the next book is a second-chance romance featuring Maya, I got genuinely excited. I already feel connected to her as a character, and I need to see how her story unfolds.
Realism, Pacing & Timeline:
For a fake dating sports romance, this book felt remarkably grounded. The emotions were believable, and the progression of Elle and Preston’s relationship felt natural rather than rushed.
That being said, one aspect that could be seen as unrealistic is the short timeline—everything happens within just a few days, and their feelings develop very quickly. I completely understand why some readers might find it hard to believe that such strong emotions could form in such a short time. And to an extent, I agree—it’s fast.
But at the same time? Sometimes people really do fall for each other that quickly. Love at first sight (or at least very fast attraction) happens. Whether it lasts is a different question, but that’s not something this book tries to explore. It’s about the rush of emotions, the tension, and the chemistry in the moment—and in that sense, it worked for me.
Strengths:
Engaging storyline with a perfect mix of drama, romance, and humor.
Good chemistry between Elle and Preston, making their slow-burn romance feel authentic.
Preston’s character arc—his emotionally closed-off, physically intense nature makes him stand out.
Maya’s storyline was compelling—she wasn’t just a background character, and I’m excited for her book.
Fake dating + grumpy-sunshine trope—if you love these, this book delivers!
Weaknesses:
Their first interaction felt a little too exaggerated—not a huge issue, but it stood out compared to the rest of the book.
Some predictable moments—it follows classic romance beats, which isn’t a bad thing, but if you’re looking for plot twists, this isn’t the book for that.
The timeline is very short—everything happens within a few days, making the intensity of their emotions feel a bit fast. However, I didn’t mind it as much because the book is about the feeling of falling in love, not necessarily the long-term reality of it.
Final Thoughts:
Revenge Puck was an absolute joy to read—fun, emotional, and filled with characters I genuinely cared about. It delivered everything I love about fake dating romances while adding enough depth to make the story feel fresh.
And for the first time in a while, I’m actually excited about a sequel of a romance book. Maya’s second-chance romance has so much potential, and I can’t wait to return to this world.
But one of the most unexpectedly entertaining things for me was the nickname “Ellie” being associated with a cow—while at the same time, my own dog Ellie was lying next to me on the couch, peacefully snoring in her sleep. The comedic timing of that could not have been better. 😂
✔ Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
✔ Would I continue the series? No question.
✔ Will I be first in line for Maya’s story? You better believe it.

I enjoyed this hockey romance. Elle has been dumped by Christian days before the playoffs start so that he can be available to all the puck bunnies. He tells her she can date anyone but Preston Lawrence. After telling her friend Audrey a plan is hatched. I can’t wait to read more by this author. Thank you NetGalley for my advanced copy.

A perfect book if you’re looking for a lighthearted easy romance read. The book follows hairdresser Elle and Hockey player Preston known as the Wooly Mammoth. Preston may seem scary on the outside but he’s a softie inside and very protective of Elle. I won’t give any spoilers but all in all a really lovely read and would definitely recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley for the Arc!!

Thank you NetGalley for the e-audio ARC. I really enjoyed this book with hockey romances being some of my favorite reads! Elle and Preston’s fake dating scheme was the perfect mix of angst and swoon-worthy moments, and I couldn’t get enough of their growing connection. There was also the drama of Christian in the background that kept me reading.
If you love fake dating, enemies-to-lovers, and hockey hunks with a soft side, this book is for you.

This was a fun read. The story moves quick and is exciting! The characters are fully flushed out and have relatable storylines.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC :)
I enjoyed Revenge Puck! It has a good pace, loveable characters and a realistic storyline. The MMC Preston isn’t the most popular, fan-favourite player ever which was a nice change from a lot of hockey romances. The character and relationship development for Preston and Christian is well written and emotional which really adds to the story. The FMC, Elle, is strong and assertive, owns her own business, and is relatable to a lot of women. The relationship dynamic between Preston and Elle, although frustrating at times, has a more even power dynamic than many other hockey romances and great development throughout the book.

Cute hockey romance! The FMC is bold and I love the way the characters meet! There is found family and this book leads into a series with each couple having their own book. I can’t wait to read the others!

Why am I so obsessed with hockey romance novels? I DON'T IT YET I CAN'T STOP!!! I absolutely loved this book about Grumpy Preston and Bubbly Elle, who meet in an unconventional way. Every moment was fun and I can't wait to read the next in the series!

was such a cute read. I really enjoyed super cute!
Wished maybe the timeline was longer maybe they were together a season or something like that just to really allow the characters to develop together!

First off, I love sports romances and the fake dating trope, so I knew I’d enjoy this book. It was super fast-paced, and I could not put it down. I really liked Elle and Preston as a couple. However, I do wish their romance had been more of a slow burn. It started as fake dating, and suddenly they were in love with each other. It left me wanting more in terms of the progression of their relationship. It felt very insta-love-y to me, which is a trope that personally isn’t for me. Overall, I did enjoy their relationship and watching them grow emotionally and overcome their issues. The internal struggles they faced felt very real, and it was interesting to see how that affected their personal lives as well as their relationship.
I liked the side characters, Christian and Maya, but at times, it felt like they overshadowed Elle and Preston’s story/relationship. Some subplots took me by surprise, but I’m excited to see more of these characters in the future. I think the setup for the next book was done well, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
There were quite a few editing mistakes, so I hope those are fixed before the book is released. Overall, I liked this book, and I’d recommend it to those who enjoy sports romances, fake dating, and the grumpy sunshine trope.

Revenge is best served cold...
Or on ice to be more precise. Elle is unceremoniously dumped by her so called boyfriend, Christian, who is the biggest deuce and just plain mean player. He's a cheating hockey player whose one enemy he cares about is Preston. Preston and Christian are rivals, like batty rivals, where they loose their S. Elle and Preston decide to team up and mess with Christian's head big time. They are dating. Her to get back at Christian cuz the only one he cared if she went out with after him was Preston. Preston, to keep his cool, keep his job in DC as the best hockey player. Love these two together. I really liked Preston and the contrast between Preston and Christian was pitch perfect.
Recommend.

Inhaled this book within 24 hours, just what I needed after reading a much slower paced book. A great hockey star romance book with a bit of a twist at the end. Highly recommend for any romance lovers!

Thanks to Net Galley and the author for the ARC in exchange of my honest opinion.
Elle and Preston are a very cute couple. I loved their story. It’s a cute hockey romance. This story is about second chances. About how a person can make mistakes, own them and make their life better. It’s about how giving people the opportunity to explain themselves and make their own decisions is important. Elle and Preston balance each other out. He helped her find what she had been looking for and realize her worth, and she helped him see not everything is black or white, and sometimes even the biggest prick has good in them. I also like that the secondary characters had enough personality to make you interested in knowing more about their story. I’m honestly looking forward to reading Maya and Christian’s book!

Thank you to BooksGoSocial and L A Hart for approving my request on Netgalley to receive a eARC of Revenge Puck. Faking dating for revenge against a playboy who messed with your heart? Oh yes, please! This was just the book I was looking fill the gap after two of my favourite hockey romance series finished.
Revenge Puck is a fake dating romance that shows never treat a lady badly, she might just get her own back on you by asking your nemesis to star in a fake relationship stir up jealousy and distraction ahead of critical series of playoff games. L A Hart’s writing style is easy to read, face-pace with engaging plot told from a dual POV of the main characters, Elle and Preston. A nice bonus as getting both sides of the romance always bring a rich dynamic to their flawed, complicated characters and backstories.
The romance is kind of insta-love of romance taking place over a short duration of a couple of weeks during playoff games, her writing pulls it off with her energetic and humorous storytelling. While there is a lot of fun, the plot does deal with some deep issues about mental health and family relationships that are with care and sensitivity to enrich the emotional tones of the story.
The chemistry between Elle and Preston comes on quickly, but they do have a great energy together leading to some fun, flirty banter, snarky quips and cute playfulness antic had me giggle away in the second half the book. The tension at the start was a little on the edge with early miscommunication and never knowing when Preston’s quick to judge temper might blow. As their pretend develops to real feelings, you appreciate how nicely they counter balance each other’s weaknesses and ground one another.
A fun and cute hockey romance read featuring a grumpy x sunshine dynamic, fake dating and all the fun ups and downs falling in love on and off the ice. If you love hockey romances, check out Revenge Puck for an easy, fun and sexy read.

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good hockey romance—strong, broody athletes, witty banter, and just enough drama to keep things interesting. And this book delivered on all fronts! It was a quick, enjoyable read that kept me turning pages, and I found myself really invested in the characters.
That being said, I did get a bit of déjà vu while reading—some elements felt a little too familiar if you’ve dabbled in the hockey romance genre before. Also, can we talk about the whole "I wrote her letters for years" thing? Christian Riley dropped that bombshell, and then... crickets. No follow-up, no deeper explanation I really wanted to know . I kept waiting for a big emotional payoff, but it never really happened. Maybe it’s a series thing? If so, I hope the next book brings some closure to that storyline and I will definitely be reading just to find out if they end up together or not, and what happened to those dang letters!!!!
Overall, a solid, entertaining read! If you love hockey romances, this one is worth checking out

This was a very cute hockey romance! A perfect light, fluffy read. Thank you L.A. Hart, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a fun and sweet book. I loved Preston and Elle's characters so much. My favorite was when Preston would get possessive... we love a possessive man!

Huge thanks to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. If you’re a grumpy/sunshine sports romance lover, this is a great quick read!
Loved:
- The inclusion of a curvy heroine!
- Not glossing over Elle’s insecurities and her struggles with the social media attention
- Preston doing everything he could to protect her from the negative comments
- Preston’s relationship with Maya
Meh:
- The insta-love was a little too rushed for me. I just wish their relationship had more time to develop
- Preston’s temper and distrust of Elle. Like come on dude
- Some plot holes. What happened to the letters Christian sent to Maya? On that note, I often felt more invested in Maya and Christian’s story than Elle and Preston’s
- Minor typos throughout the book. Nothing terrible, but it did interrupt my reading flow
Disliked:
- There was more manufactured conflict than I would like considering there were actual things that could cause real conflict
- Why would Elle tell Christian that the relationship was fake? It just seemed very out of character and caused some of the stupid manufactured conflict
- Sometimes it was hard to root for Preston because he was such an asshole in a lot of moments

Revenge Puck by L.A. Hart is a fun, fast-paced hockey romance with the perfect mix of banter, spice, and emotional depth. The story follows a fiery enemies-to-lovers dynamic, where past betrayals and simmering tension make for an addictive read. Fans of sports romance will love the steamy scenes, witty dialogue, and well-developed characters. If you enjoy a mix of revenge, passion, and hockey, this book is definitely worth picking up!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!
I absolutely love ice hockey romances, so of course, I had to read this one!
First of all, I had so much fun with this book; there were multiple scenes and situations that made me laugh out loud.
Elle Townsend thought she was in a somewhat relationship—until hockey star Christian Riley blindsided her with a breakup right before the playoffs, revealing she was nothing more than a casual fling. Let’s just say… he’s a total ass about it.
“Why did I merit this talk instead of you just ghosting me?” I ask curiously while staring up at the ceiling rather than his too pretty face.
“Because you’re the only one who can do my fade the way I like,” he responds, as if it’s obvious. “Just because we’re not fucking doesn’t mean I want you to stop cutting my hair and shit.”
“You could sleep with every player in the league, and I wouldn’t care,” he says confidently. “Well, except for Preston Lawrence.”
Determined to get back at him, Elle and her bestie Audrey come up with a revenge plan: fake dating Christian’s biggest rival, Preston Lawrence—the grumpy enforcer known for his hot temper and zero interest in dating. What starts as a simple “let’s take a picture to make him jealous” soon escalates into holding up a sign (I won’t spoil what it says, but trust me—it’s hilarious!) and wearing Preston’s jersey.
“All I want is a photo with you to put on Insta to try and piss Christian off."
“Why do you need to see my silly little sign?”
“A big silly sign. And let’s just say I have a bit of a rage problem whenever I see Christian Riley’s fucking face.”
“No kidding?”
“Your sign, the meaning behind it, would give me a chance to hold some shit over his head for once.”
“He usually holds shit over your head?”
“Something like that.”
“So, we would be helping each other out? You gave me an ussie and I give you a big, glitter sign in the stands?”
“Yes. Only fair, right?”
What begins as a revenge scheme spirals into something real. Preston, who has spent years prioritizing his career and shutting people out, finds himself unexpectedly drawn to Elle. But both of them have baggage.
Preston still holds deep resentment toward Christian for past betrayals, while Elle struggles with self-worth after being treated as disposable. Their chemistry is undeniable, but their fears threaten to tear them apart. Preston constantly worries that Elle isn’t over Christian, and Elle isn’t sure if Preston will ever put her first and cares more about her than getting revenge on Christian.
What I Loved
✔️ Fast-paced, fun, and full of banter!
✔️ Fake dating trope done right—with lots of laugh-out-loud moments.
✔️ Elle’s sass + Preston’s grumpiness = perfection.
✔️ A steamy, emotional romance with a good balance of tension and tenderness.
What Didn’t Quite Work for Me
⚠️ The romance moved a bit too fast. I would have loved to see more gradual development before they went from fake dating to deeply in love.
⚠️ Preston’s temper issues could have been explored more. While his protectiveness was endearing, I felt like his character arc needed more depth and growth.
⚠️ Some grammar mistakes/missing words (hopefully fixed in the final version).
Final Thoughts
Despite a few hiccups, I devoured this book in one sitting. The mix of romance, revenge, and hilarious moments made it such an entertaining read!
If you’re looking for a quick, fun romance filled with banter, fake dating chaos, and swoon-worthy moments, this one’s for you!

Elle is the kind of heroine you can’t help but root for—she gets dumped by her hockey player boyfriend right before the playoffs and decides to get even in the best way possible: by fake-dating his biggest rival. Enter Preston Lawrence, the league’s bad boy enforcer, who usually avoids the spotlight but jumps at the chance to mess with his nemesis. What starts as a little payback quickly turns into something way more real than either of them expected.
I loved Preston. He’s all rough and tough on the outside but secretly a big softie when it comes to Elle. Their chemistry is off the charts, and watching them go from fake to oh wow, this is actually happening was so much fun. Elle is sweet but strong, and she doesn’t put up with anyone’s nonsense—especially her ex’s. And let’s be real, seeing her get under Christian’s skin was so satisfying.
The banter is great, the tension is chef’s kiss, and the romance is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Elle’s best friend, Audrey, adds some hilarious moments, and the rivalry between Preston and Christian keeps the drama going. The story moves fast, and I couldn’t put it down—I just had to know how it all played out.
If you’re into hockey romance with fake dating, protective bad boys, and a little bit of chaos, this one’s for you. Highly recommend!

Revenge Puck is a steamy, fast-paced hockey romance with fake dating, chemistry, and tension. I picked up the book as a last minute, quick read and it certainly delivered. The characters were interesting and I was invested right from the start.

I started reading this while I was at work and I couldn't stop reading. The pace of the book was well kept. The relationship that grows between Pres and Elle was great. The personality changes you see in both of them I feel fit the mark for a realistic relationship. I like that Chris and Pres were able to get on to some solid ground and do the right thing for Finn. I absolute love that Pres proposed to her in the same spot that he met her. This was a cute book and I love Ellie and Pres. I don't know how I will feel with Chris and and Maya story being next. Simply because I don't like how he is portrayed in the first book. I can only hope that he changes his way in their book.
There were a couple spots in the copy of the book that I had where the sentence didn't make since. I was more on the fact that the words should have been switch. There was a random "t" after one of the words and had no reason to be in the sentence.
