Don't miss the brilliant second book in the Home for the Holidays series from Gina Henning.

A delicious cake. A guy who is late. Merry Christmas to all.

After the best Thanksgiving of her life, Lauren Hauser can’t wait to see Jack-the-pecan-hoarder so they can finally be in the same place at the same time. Long distance really doesn’t work when you’re head over heels!

But when Jack doesn’t turn up at the airport Lauren is left wondering if their relationship is really as great as she thought? Sure Jack’s kisses were delicious and when he looked at her, her knees felt weak, but what did they really know about each other?

A big Hauser family Christmas is just what is needed for this situation. Not only will her mom be decking the halls with boughs of monstrous-Christmas-decorations, but Lauren is baking a Christmas cake to once again claim dessert queen of the family! Will Jack fit in with the Hauser clan? Or will Lauren have to face the music…and accept that not every holiday romance was made for a happily ever after…

After such an enjoyable Thanksgiving Lauren is looking forward to seeing Jack again- but he's a no show at the airport. When he finally gets in touch again Lauren tries to plan the perfect Christmas present for him. She's hoping to recreate a cake that brings back wonderful childhood memories for Jack. Throw in the Aunty who comes along to the Christmas festivities with a feral stray cat she feels sorry for.

Jack plans a wonderfully romantic 12 days of Christmas for Lauren with a very special gift for each day of the famous song. This is despite worrying about the financial state of the care home he runs. He wants Lauren to help him sort it out- but her family have reservations about Lauren getting involved. She is just desperate for them to accept him- as she wants him to stay in her life forever.

I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Many thanks to Carina Uk and Net Galley for a copy of this book.

How to Bake the Perfect Christmas Cake is such a heartwarming story that was a delight to read! I fell in love with Lauren and Jack in How to Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie and was really excited to continue their story with them that is set around Christmas time. As Lauren and Jack continue their new relationship, they have several challenges ahead of them – but love will always find a way as they say!

The whole Hauser family is so much fun with their quirky traditions and the reader can’t help but giggle at some of the antics that happen during the story.

Jack’s Twelve Days of Christmas gifts were charming and very creative. All men should take note of this as I believe it would score major points with the women in their lives!

Aunt Minnie really stole my heart and with her newly acquired cat, George, made me giggle throughout the story.

There were a few editing errors and at times I felt the author was trying to meet a certain word count because of unnecessary descriptions, but overall these issues did not take from the adorable story.

How to Bake the Perfect Christmas Cake is the perfect book to get you in the holiday spirit and one that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to read an adorable holiday romance.

What makes this book so special is that it picks up right where we left off in How To Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie! Lauren and Jack are reunited after a bizarre no show situation. Despite their very funky start, these two sweethearts still have that super special zing. In this story, we get to see their romance...and their Christmas come to life in a big way. Factor in Lauren's wonderfully zany family and some aww-some moments and there's a recipe for fun.

This author gets me every time. I absolutely love the humor and the romance.

I really enjoyed "How to Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie" so jumped at the chance to read this book, written by the same author. I didn't originally realise that this continues the story on from that first book, relating the next interactions between Jack and Lauren. Having said that, I actually don't think you need to have read the first book to appreciate and enjoy this one but would still recommend that you do so as they are both delightful!

Families and familial relationships can be a blessing or a real nuisance and, in this romance, there are examples of both! The path of true love never seems to follow a smooth path for Jack and Lauren - there seem to be large potholes and mole hills in their path to push them off course! There are many highs and lows along the way for both of them. Money goes missing - then mysteriously reappears . . . cooking cakes and preparing cranberries all play their part in this delectable recipe for a Christmas themed romantic story - a great, sweet, funny, festive treat.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
