Description

Eleanor Burton leads the development team for the soon-to-be deployed OrbitNet internet satellites when she receives a fatal diagnosis. With two months to live, she becomes the guinea pig for a friend’s brain scanning experiment. She awakes to discover she is now a virtual human, an unauthorized program running on the primary OrbitNet satellite. She must keep her existence secret.

A covert operation has found her out and is pressuring her to help them, which raises questions. Did her situation arise from a chain of coincidences or someone’s master plan? And can she stop the plot to control the entire planet?

Set in the near future, Two Thirds of a God explores intelligence—natural and artificial—as well as the lust for power and repercussions of technology.

Advance Praise

“The novel succeeds both as a character study of a digital being and as a techno-thriller. A post-human entity proves to be the most relatable character in this engaging cyberthriller.”
—Kirkus Reviews

"Two Thirds of a God is a cyber-thriller stocked with characters that question the nature of awareness and identity. Gloster’s vision of cyberspace is engaging and a pure pleasure to read. The man-versus-machine plot will have you rooting for the machine, while questioning whether it’s a machine at all."
—Scott Coon, author of Godless Armageddon
