Description
You invited her in. That was your first mistake.
Jules and Scott are a young couple living on the outskirts of London. When the charming and charismatic Orla sweeps into their lives, inviting her to house-share seems like the answer to all their problems: she needs a home, they could do with the money.
But once Orla moves in, Jules starts to feel uncomfortable. Whatever the occasion, Orla has to be centre-stage. Every social occasion, every outing, every get-together is dominated by her and her daily dramas. But on closer inspection, Orla's stories just don't add up. And Jules starts to suspect that their dream housemate might be about to turn their lives into a nightmare.
A tense new psychological thriller from the author of The Perfect Guest.

Woah this book was so gripping and oh-so-twisty, this is a page-turner that you won’t want to put down! It was phenomenal! Oh my goodness, reading this book gave me such goosebumps and I was hooked from the very beginning! I couldn’t put the book down.
The one that everyone will be talking about! It was addictive, binge-readable, and when I say drama-filled, oh I mean it! The character Orla was such a drama queen she was far from the ‘Irish Angel’ but I was drawn to her character as I would wonder what she would get up to next!
It was was a thought-provoking thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish and long afterwards. This book is a must read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!

How far would someone go to stay in the spotlight? When Scott and Jules welcome Orla into their home, she appears to be the perfect lodger. But as time passes, Jules begins to notice a disturbing pattern, Something feels off, and as Jules starts digging into Orla’s past, she has no idea just how dark the truth she’s uncovering really is.
I really loved this one. It kicks off super fast and throws you right into the story, which I always enjoy. Some of the characters were great, and it also does a good job of showing how naïve people can be sometimes. And the ending? So good — it definitely delivered.

This is an assured and elevated psychological thriller. I loved the mounting sense of paranoia and the slow burn of the plot. The storyline felt convincing and like it could happen with good psychological background
I love how Ruth Irons writes and this felt like an accomplished and eminently readable book.

I loved the author’s debut novel The Perfect Guest so was looking forward to reading Home Sweet Home.
Jules and Scott live in a London suburb and are discussing finding a lodger when they meet the dramatic and charismatic Orla one evening in the local pub. Orla soon moves in and although Scott appears happy with their new lodger Jules becomes increasingly uneasy with Orla’s presence.
I absolutely loved this psychological drama, it’s so well plotted and the tension creeps up on the reader gradually. Just when I thought I knew the direction of the plot there was another twist that left me breathless and wanting one more chapter. A compelling read which introduces some thought provoking themes that I raced through over the course of 24 hours. Recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

There are quite a few books out atm on a similar theme but I have to say, this one did really stand out! It's well written and just so relatable. You can feel the main characters frustration and see exactly why it's all such a nightmare for her. It's also written in a way that just feels like it could happen to anyone and, I'm quite sure everyone has met someone similar in the past!! The plot is creepy but not too out there and I was just so invested from the start. The ending really was just perfect
