Description
MULAN'S READY TO GET DOWN TO BUSINESS. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO LOVE, SHE HASN'T GOT A CLUE.
Mulan knows what it takes to succeed in a man's world.
On track to make partner at her father's private equity company, she's had to work twice as hard, be three times as smart, and have infinitely thicker skin than any of the finance bros she works with. And with her parents, who she fears always wanted a son, she's had to play the part of the perfect daughter.
So when her father unexpectedly collapses in the middle of a critical acquisition, she promises she'll close the deal. There's just one problem: Wutai Gold, the small whiskey company known for its outsize macho branding, and the family who runs it refuse to do business with anyone other than her father - and certainly not a woman. So Mulan does the only sensible thing she can think of: She pretends to be him.
The lie is easy enough over email, but then she's invited to spend a few days at the Li family ranch and distillery. She knows how to close a business deal in her sleep, but pretending to be a seasoned rancher like her father? Not so much. To make matters worse, Mulan must endure this humiliation in front of Shang, Wutai Gold's stoic-and scorchingly hot-CEO.
The more time she spends falling for Shang and his family (and not just in the mud), the more she wishes she could just be herself. But who is that, really? Caught between family, business, and her own heart, how can she choose just one worth fighting for?
Laugh and swoon with the next book in Disney's Meant to Be collection by best selling and award-winning author Jesse Q. Sutanto, whose novel Dial A For Aunties Emily Henry called "Utterly clever, deeply funny, and altogether charming."

Book Review: Worth Fighting For by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
As a Disney fan, I have to say: Worth Fighting For is the type of book that feels like it was made for those of us who grew up loving the strong, determined heroines of Disney movies—and Mulan is a perfect fit for this reimagined, modern-day romance! Think of this as Mulan’s grown-up story, but with a twist of contemporary business drama and, of course, a sizzling romance.
The book follows Mulan as she strives to prove herself in the male-dominated world of finance. Just like the iconic Disney character we all know and love, she’s tough, independent, and absolutely committed to making it on her own terms. But when her father unexpectedly collapses, Mulan finds herself forced to step into his shoes to close a big business deal, even if it means pretending to be him in front of his clients. Cue the hilarious and heartwarming chaos as she’s thrust into a rancher’s world, trying to fake her way through the business—and dealing with the added complication of her feelings for Shang, the CEO of the whiskey company she’s trying to negotiate with.
What makes this book so fun for Disney lovers is how Mulan the character remains so true to her roots, yet in a modern, romantic setting. If you’ve ever wanted to see her navigate a corporate world (with plenty of humor and charm), this is the book for you. Just like the original movie, Worth Fighting For is about finding balance between duty and following your heart. And let’s not forget about Shang—he’s just the kind of swoon-worthy love interest that Disney fans have come to expect. He’s strong, supportive, and, of course, incredibly easy on the eyes. Watching Mulan fall for him in this scenario had me rooting for their happily-ever-after from the very first page.
What I loved most about this novel is the way it balances humor with deeper emotional beats. Mulan is juggling so much—her career, her family’s expectations, and now a completely new identity she’s had to create for herself—but through it all, she remains relatable and endearing. Watching her grow and learn to embrace who she really is was a journey that felt just as satisfying as any animated Disney film.
If you’re a fan of Disney’s empowering heroines, Worth Fighting For will absolutely tug at your heartstrings. It’s a delightful mix of corporate drama, romantic tension, and hilarious situations that will keep you turning pages long after you should’ve gone to sleep.
In the end, Worth Fighting For is not just a modern love story—it’s about knowing your worth, embracing who you are, and realizing that sometimes, you really do have to fight for what truly matters.
Final Thoughts: This book definitely lives up to its promise of being both funny and swoon-worthy. Mulan’s journey of self-discovery and love, paired with a heartfelt plot, makes this a must-read for anyone who’s a fan of Disney and contemporary romance. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a little bit of magic and a lot of heart!
