It's time to break the spell of perfection . . .
Andromeda Wildwood is practically perfect in every witch way. Her life is a haze of pink, magic and impossibly high standards. The proud owner of Celestial Bakehouse, a bustling London bakery, Annie devotes her powers to pleasing others, and while perfection exacts a magical toll, it’s a price she is more than willing to pay.
However, when Annie is tasked by her coven with mentoring a troubled teenage witch, her charmed existence is thrown into chaos. She couldn’t be more different from fiery, stubborn Maeve. Or from Hal, the gruff but handsome owner of their temporary lodgings, who is not best pleased to find the coven has offered up his woodland cottage to two headstrong witches.
As the unlikely trio slowly bond, outside forces begin to take an interest in Maeve’s extraordinary powers. Will Annie risk everything to protect the true magic she’s finally found?
Uncharmed is the spellbinding new cosy fantasy from Lucy Jane Wood, celebrating found family, unconditional love and the joy of letting go of perfectionism and people-pleasing.

This is such a cozy and yet important story about being your true witchy self.
Annie has basically invented the phrase people pleaser. She uses her magic for trying to be everything others (read: snobby coven) expect from her. Even her bakery is perfect.
But then she meets Maeve, a young, snarky, powerful witch. And Hal. So when is it time to ditch perfection? When is it time to fight for what's worth fighting for?
This book has all the cozy witchy vibes, while having great character development and sending messages about self-esteem, authenticity and true friendship.
I'm sure gonna check out the author's first book.
4,5/5 stars
Thank you @netgalley and @panmacmillan for the eARC!

Every bit as good as the author's first book Rewitched. Sweet, cosy and utterly charming, this is a book to curl up with when your faith in the world is low and your spirits need a lift. Found family, the pressures of perfection and the desire to belong are all at the heart of this book but it is filled with magical wonders, heavenly baking, animals familiars, hilarious snark and the sweetest love. I will definitely be picking this up again as the 'ber' months roll in, but it's a delight at any time of the year.

Uncharmed by Lucy Jane Wood is pure magic — heartfelt, hilarious, and quietly profound in all the right places. From the very first page, I was completely charmed (no pun intended) by its witty narrative voice, lovable characters, and the effortlessly cozy yet emotionally sharp tone.
Wood has a real gift for blending the whimsical with the relatable. The main character feels like someone you’d absolutely be friends with — flawed, funny, and so refreshingly real. There’s a strong thread of female friendship, self-discovery, and gentle witchy vibes that never feel forced or gimmicky.
The pacing is tight, the dialogue sparkles, and the emotional beats land beautifully. There’s also a quietly radical undercurrent about learning to trust yourself, especially in a world that often feels like it’s falling apart — and that message lingers long after the final page.
If you’re into heartfelt, slightly magical stories that make you laugh, reflect, and maybe cry a little, Uncharmed is a must-read. I already want to read it again with a cup of tea and a blanket.

Uncharmed is a really enjoyable, cosy and heart-warming read. I felt it was initially a little slow but once the main cast of found family characters had been introduced I was completely absorbed in the witchy world and really enjoyed it. This is the perfect easy read for anyone looking for fun characters with lots of charm and a heartwarming storyline with just enough conflict to keep the story interesting and intriguing. Highly recommend to fans of Lucy's previous book or anyone looking for a cosy witchy vibe!

Uncharmed is anything but uncharming, it's a fabulous twisty tale of found family and false friends!
Our protagonist Annie is a wonderful, competent witch who runs a successful bakery in the non-wicche world. Obsessed with perfection and all things pink, Annie is stretching herself paper thin in her efforts to please everyone and to fit in with the upper echelons of Sorciety - the secret society within her coven.
When mentoring talented fifteen year old Maeve is foisted upon Annie, it seems only a matter of time before something will have to give in Annie's perfect world ...but how explosive will the consequences be? And why exactly are the secret society so interested in Maeve? Staunchly supported by Hal, in who's house Annie and Maeve are unexpected guests, the trio must take on the might of the coven and the sorciety.
I absolutely loved this book which deserves 5 glittery pink stars! Annie and Maeve are brilliantly fleshed out and realistic characters and I found their relationship very relatable - who hasn't questioned all their life choices after being appraised by a teenager!
Set in the same universe as 'Rewitched' but in a different era, this book is a great standalone read, perfect for anyone who loves magical stories full of warmth, wit, and humour.
Thank you to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan
for the review copy.

Lucy does it again!!! OMGGG I AM LITERALLY OBSESSED!!! She could write me a shopping list for B&Q and I'd probably get the same thrill. LOVE LOVE LOOOOVED THIS OMG IT WAS PERFECT

Uncharmed is the most delightfully cosy story that made me want to curl up in a blanket with a hot chocolate whilst it rains outside!
Annie is a clever and kind witch who runs the most adorable bakery and pushes herself to be perfect for everyone around her, despite the toll her perfection puts on her. We follow Annie as she is given charge of a young, untrained witch, Maeve, who exudes power yet is extremely unsure of herself (and a very well written teenager!).
This is a gorgeous story of a found family, with a perfect grumpy/sunshine relationship between Annie and Hal. I thought the storylines were well balanced, we don’t meet Hal till about 45% into the book yet the rest of the story doesn’t get abandoned in order to push their romance onto us. Instead you get a cute, slow burn romance that feels very believable to the situation they’re in.
I can’t wait to reread this in the autumn and feel all cosy inside☺️🍂
Thank you to NetGalley and PanMacmillan for the ARC!

I loved Rewitched, so this was a highly anticipated ARC for me and honestly, Uncharmed delivered just what I hoped for: a comforting, quietly magical story full of warmth, wit, and heart.
Annie Wildwood is the kind of character who thinks she has everything in control: lists, appearances, polished plans. But when she’s sent to a rundown woodland cottage to mentor Maeve, a prickly teenage witch with a lot of baggage, everything begins to unravel and heal. Add in the grumpy-yet-soft cottage owner Hal, and you've got a cast that slowly melts together in the most satisfying way.
Where Rewitched sparkled with whimsy and surprise, Uncharmed simmers with emotional growth. The magic here is softer, cozier more about connection and letting go than dramatic spells or plot twists. It’s cottagecore fantasy at its finest, with plenty of dry humor, delicious baked-goods spells, and the kind of found-family storyline that sticks with you.

This book is a charmingly magical tale with a cosy heart that feels like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold, crisp winter's morning.
Annie's journey to self-confidence and self-acceptance is a joy to follow along with, as is seeing Maeve flourish and the found family they create along the way.
I thoroughly recommend this book, perfect for the nights drawing in and creating that warm, snuggled feeling. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lucy Jane Wood has cemented herself as an instant-read for me with this book! Rewitched was one of my favourite titles last year and so when I heard she was publishing this I knew I had to read it.
This is the perfect cosy, uplifting, autumn read and should be paired with a pumpkin spiced latte and your favourite pyjamas. I demolished this in one day with my cat on my lap which I feel the main character - Annie - would have approved of!
Also some subtle Taylor Swift references dotted in which I loved!
10/10 cosy witchy fantasy with found family and a grumpy x sunshine element that will be perfect for the academically gifted eldest daughter > burnt out adult <3

I worried I wouldn’t enjoy this as much as Rewitched but wow! I definitely didn’t need to worry. Such a heart warming story, an easy, comfy read! I loved it.

Lucy Jane Wood does it again! Back to the world of Rewitched but with brand new characters to get to know. Annie has the perfect life, the perfect business, the perfect friends - but at what cost? There's nothing quite like a teenage girl to break your façade and Annie being thrown into mentoring the slightly crabby Maeve turns her world upside down.
The main highlight of this book is the relationship between Maeve and Annie - they both have a lot to teach each other and it feels organic and real. There's a little romance in this book but it takes a bit of a back seat compared to female friendship dynamics (both positive and negative!) which I felt was the right choice. Returning to this world was a joy, with everything vividly and colourfully depicted - this time with plenty of pink.
If you've ever achieved something then wondered if you even wanted it in the first place, if you've ever been told you're a people pleaser, or if you've ever felt like you're not enough, this book is likely meant for you, as it was for me.
I hope there's more stories of Selcouth, I can't wait!

I think my heart just exploded, in the best way possible.
Man, I love a found family trope and boy did this get me. It was an absolutely amazing story and I couldn’t wait to get reading again whenever I had to Velcro rip myself away from it.
I adored the first book in this series and this one, while in the same world, could work as a standalone if you hadn’t read the first (which I also fully recommend too). From the moment you open the page or fire up your (kindle) reading device, you’re enveloped into a cosy, warm magical atmosphere where you want to stay for all the cakes and company.
Alice was a pure delight, as was Hal and I immediately fell in love with Maeve. You couldn’t ask for more out of the writing. It was a perfect escape from reality for a bit and I couldn’t have loved and enjoyed it more if I tried.

Lucy Jane Wood has genuinely outdone herself. Uncharmed is hands down my favourite cosy fantasy book ever!
Her writing is so tight, delightfully immersive and so well paced. Not to mention the characters! As a lifelong people-pleaser I saw myself in Annie and was rooting for her from the start. It was such a breath of fresh air to spend time in such a wonderful world again (though you definitely don't need to have read Rewitched first). Fair warning you'll want a steaming hot drink and a sweet treat on standby because her descriptions of baked goods is enough to make anyone ravenous.
Uncharmed has a slow start that really, really works to set the mood - it's like fluffing a pillow and putting on comfy socks before you settle in to read something good. I absolutely loved how late the slow burn romance came into it because it didn't detract at all from the primary plot and instead enhanced it, with a grumpy x sunshine vibe that never went overboard and felt so natural and organic.
Lastly, if you're just looking for good cosy fantasy vibes, you'll get that in spades but, equally, if you're looking for something a little deeper there is a satisfying thread of self discovery, and a people pleaser learning that putting herself first for once doesn't stop the world turning. Masterfully done in all aspects - Lucy Jane Wood is now on my instant buy author list!
With thanks to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say? I was thoroughly charmed by Uncharmed. I requested this one because the cover gave me cozy witchy vibes and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, it gave me a lot more than I thought I’d get and it’s officially another cozy fantasy favorite for me this year!
I loved the growth and pride I felt while reading about Annie. She needs the biggest hug ever and I’m glad in the end she has her people, her home, and her magic. Following her from the start where she was ready to push herself until the end to follow the perfection and people pleasing tendencies to be accepted by people, some quite undeserving of her, simply broke my heart for her.
And the way she took care of Maeve, our troubled teenager witch, and how they both helped each other was such a wonderful experience to read about. And when Hal showed up, the found family found each other and they worked so well together.
Ah, I want to write more about this book, but at the same time, I want to let the people experience it for themselves as well without spoilers. This being said the cozy witch vibes would be perfect the chilly days around Halloween as well!
Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the arc! I appreciate it!

This is such a lovely book! I really enjoyed Lucy Wood’s first book, Rewitched, so I had high hopes for this book too, and it didn’t disappoint.
This book is set in the same world as Rewitched, just in an earlier time, and it was lovely to revisit the world with its mix of magic and non-magic. I also enjoyed the few nods to the Rewitched plot and characters too!
I really enjoyed the friendly tone of the writing, as well as the gentle humour all the way through. As a second book, I found it really comforting to return to Wood’s writing style. I love all the descriptions which help to make the book seem cosy and rich without being too flowery, and I particularly enjoyed the commitment to the baking theme.
The main cast of characters is small and quite well developed. The focus is obviously on Annie as the main character, and she is a really interesting character. Something I enjoyed with both this and Rewitched is that even with the magical elements, the main characters both have quite realistic struggles (anxiety, people pleasing, fear of not living up to expectations). I think these traits make the characters quite relatable, and Wood does a really good job of translating those struggles into a magical world.
Overall I really loved this book, it was packed with magic, warmth and delicious baking. A really lovely Autumnal read!

I loved Lucy’s first book and I really loved her second uncharmed. The story is a cosy read. The story flowed beautifully and I really enjoyed the characters and connections. It’s a beautifully written book . Such a wonderful read for a cosy day of reading.

This was just as delightful as the first book! Uncharmed was actually incredibly charming. Our protagonist in this book, Annie, is a witch wearing herself out in attempt to be impossibly perfect at all times. Incredible props to author, as I think Annie’s archetype is one that I would normally really dislike, but in this book I really enjoyed. In one of her many attempts to please everybody, Annie takes on the role as mentor to a young witch named Maeve. Maeve is a character I did genuinely enjoy and relate to (even though I’m older than Annie). Together with Hal, who is a wonderful man full of green flags, they form an unlikely trio of found family.
This book really seemed to have a little bit of everything I hope for in a book. Found family, main character over 30, green flag MMC, self discovery, true friendship, suspense and a very hefty dose of magic.
I was almost put off in the beginning when the American character was introduced. As an American with a British partner who spent years living in the UK, the hatred towards Americans, which Brits often think is just funny when it is actually incredibly rude, got incredibly old. I was mildly worried with the way the character was treated in the first few lines that this would be the case with this book but it wasn’t at all, so I am genuinely incredibly impressed and happy. I do hope however that Annie managed to magically procure one of incredibly rare and pricey boxes of graham crackers for her s’mores, otherwise digestives are much more suitable than other crackers!
I hope there are more books to come, and what I am guessing by now is a belated congratulations to the Lucy Jane Wood on her wedding!
A big thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the opportunity to have this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This story was just as charming as Lucy's first book, although the themes tackled are quite different. What I love about Lucy's books are the immaculate vibes, the strong nostalgic pull and how heartwarming the characters are. An added plus was the chemistry between Annie and Hal, and all the talk of delicious baked good. I will be reading everything Lucy publishes in the future.

Annie Wildwood is the perfect witch with high standards. The proud owner of Celestial Bakehouse, a bustling London bakery, she devotes her powers to pleasing others, and while perfection exacts a magical toll, it’s a price Annie is more than willing to pay. However, her existence is thrown into chaos when she's tasked by the coven to mentor a troubled teenage witch Maeve, where they temporarily take residence in Hal's woodland cottage, unbeknownst to him.
After loving Rewitched last year, I knew I was gonna love Uncharmed and I was right. I love Lucy's writing and her ability to take you to a magical world, where you can lose yourself in the pages, which is exactly how this book felt to me. It all flowed well and I loved seeing everything come together.
I loved the characters, especially Annie, Maeve and Hal - I related in particular a lot to Annie and Maeve, which I love when I feel connected to the characters. I was so invested in them that some parts had me feeling emotional. I loved their development throughout and it was beautiful to see them come into their power. I love the lessons that Maeve taught Annie about authenticity and not bending over backwards for people who don't deserve your energy, by molding yourself to fit their expectations of perfection and carrying a lot of pressure, instead of existing as an imperfect self.
I really loved the plot and the journey it takes the reader on. It felt like it was easy to visualise everything and had me wishing for one of my favourite seasons to arrive: autumn!
⚠️ CWs: alcohol use, bullying, cursing, fire, injury detail, physical assault; mentions death, blood, cheating, abandonment, death of a parent, derogatory language, ⚠️
Thank you Macmillan and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book early, in exchange for an honest review.

A lovely book which is so much more than a cozy magical read. There's so much emotion underneath the easy charm; the pressure to be perfect in order to be accepted by the 'mean girls', the loss of parents in childhood and the effects it can have, the value of true friendship and in being our genuine selves. This gives a welcome depth to a gorgeous, frothy read.

Flew through it in 24 hours! I loved that it was still within the world of her first book but such a detailed and layered expansion! I like as well the male interest comes in nearly half way through the story and adds a lot to the story other than just being a love interest!

Uncharmed by Lucy Jane Wood is such a good story... I loved every single second of this book. 5 star read from me... I totally recommend everyone to read this book as fast as they can.

How does this author get me so hooked I laugh and cry, this book did not disappoint to deliver the goods!

5✨
Thank you NetGalley, Lucy Jane Wood and Pan Macmillan for providing an eARC in exchange for my honest review - Uncharmed publishes September 18th.
I’m so excited to have an early copy of Uncharmed. As a subscriber to Lucy’s YouTube channel for the last 10+ years I was so happy for her when she started her writing career and released Rewitched last year - a story I thoroughly enjoyed.
Uncharmed is a beautiful story following Annie, a perfect-in-every-way witch in her 30s who owns Celestial Bakehouse (a beautiful pink bakery where Annie adds a magical touch to her baked goods). Annie’s world turns upside down when she’s assigned Maeve, a troubled teenage witch to mentor
Lucy’s writing is so whimsical and poetic. She’s successfully managed to write a book that feels like a warm, comforting hug. She makes Annie feel so realistic and relatable (like you know her in real life) and she’s crafted the perfect cosy autumnal book to read in front of a fire with a cup of tea and a (packet of) biscuits. Knowing Lucy’s personality from her vlogs I felt like she was telling the story to me and it brought it to life so much more.
The book starts slow with the world being brought to life, Lucy’s descriptions helping you picture everything so clearly.
Annie is a people pleaser to her core and has an inability to say no to others putting herself into a state of burnout (I feel you girl)
We get to see Annie working through this with the help of Maeve which is just beautiful to see. I think we can all see elements of ourselves in Annie.
Maeve and Annie’s relationship is so heartwarming, seeing them both learn so deeply from each other to hone Maeve’s magic was such a joy. Add Hal into the mix and you have the perfect ‘triangle’ 🥹
Several of the side characters were wonderful! Justice for Ruby! And Pari and Faye are the best. (Romily, Vivienne and Harmony can get in the bin)
I’ve already pre-ordered my Waterstones exclusive edition which I can’t wait to have on my shelves in September. Congratulations Lucy on another beautiful novel.
‘The right people don’t feel precarious, they feel solid and steady. They feel infinite’

Uncharmed is the perfect cosy, witchy read. Annie was a lovely main character, and her propensity to try and keep everything in her life perfect and held together felt very relatable. This book also had a great found family element to it that was very heartwarming. Annie and Maeve had a great dynamic and Hal was the perfect addition to their pairing. Very cosy and fun to read, definitely one to read this Autumn!

All sweetness and light, featuring found family, baking and magic. I loved the bond between Annie and Maeve, as well as Annie's character development over the course of the novel.

I enjoyed this book, it was heart warming and cozy. I love found family. The main character Annie, is lives a charmed life but everything changes when she is tasked with mentoring a troubled young witch, Maeve, who need her help. Annie’s life is turned upside down.
I enjoyed reading about the different personalities and how they fit together. At first you wouldn’t think Annie and Maeve work together but they need each other and help each other. I like how Annie changes with Maeve around and this changes how she interacts with others as well. You can’t help but root for both woman and wish them the best.
I enjoyed the pacing and found it an easy read.

As heartwarmingly cozy and unputdownable as Rewitched, I loved every fabulously pink and glitter-filled second! It's a fabulous twisty tale of found family and false friends!
This is set in the same universe as 'Rewitched' but in a different time line. Also, this book is a great standalone read, perfect for anyone who loves magical stories full of warmth, wit, and humor.
