Description
She’s the weapon no one saw coming.
Wren has always known the cost of survival. Hidden away by her elven father, she was trained to fight. Trained to flee. Trained to vanish.
When he’s murdered, she follows his final order—burn everything and run.
But she is thrust into a world she was never prepared to face—and entangled in the return of the forest demons, creatures of earth and soul thought lost to time. She has dreamed of them. She can sense them. And when she begins to destroy them, something inside her starts to change.
As kings and councils hunt for answers, and enemies seek to claim her power, Wren is swept into a storm of suspicion and ancient rivalries—caught between shifting alliances and magic no one fully understands but all seek to control. Because the demons aren’t just rising.
They’re calling to her.
When her blood calls to the forest—and the forest calls back—Wren must confront a truth she was never meant to find.
Something old is waking.
And it knows her name.
Perfect for fans of The Witcher, Princess Mononoke, and The Tree of Ages.

I just finished A Bird Among Wolves, and honestly, I didn’t want it to end. It’s one of those books where you think you know what you’re getting—classic fantasy vibes—but then it quietly surprises you in the best ways.
Wren, the main character, is super relatable. She’s not your typical sword-wielding chosen one; she’s thoughtful, kind of stubborn, and trying to figure things out while being thrown into situations way bigger than she signed up for. I loved watching her grow into her own strength without losing her heart.
The world-building is beautiful—lush forests, mysterious magic, and a sense of tension that hums beneath everything. You can tell the author put so much care into the details. The relationships are layered too, especially the emotional undercurrents between characters. There’s action, yes, but also these really tender, quiet moments that hit you hard.
If you're into stories that blend nature magic, complex characters, and just the right amount of angst, this is definitely worth picking up.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this book this much, but here I am, already wishing for the next book. Wren is one of the most relatable fantasy heroines I’ve read in a while. She’s not the usual warrior type, more like someone who learns slowly, makes mistakes, but always tries to do the right thing. The world-building was so good. I had to go back to understand a few things, especially with the different types of creatures and names. But it’s totally worth it once you get into the rhythm. The ending definitely leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for the next book. Thank you so much to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book early. I’m sharing my thoughts voluntarily and with genuine appreciation
