The Love Leap is a delightfully chaotic time-travel romance with heart, heat, and a healthy dose of humor. Amelia “Mills” Sutherland is instantly relatable as a bestselling author whose trip to Scotland takes a wildly unexpected turn. When she stumbles into the path of Callum MacDowell, a charming Highland sailor, sparks fly fast. Their chemistry is fun and flirty, but the emotional pull builds steadily once they’re thrown into the year 1645, facing clan feuds, mistaken identities, and the challenge of pretending to be husband and wife.
What I loved most is that the romance doesn’t just lean on the fantasy setup. It’s grounded in emotional growth, shared vulnerability, and the kind of banter that makes you grin while rooting for them. The pacing keeps things engaging, with just enough tension to raise the stakes without losing the book’s warm, adventurous tone. Heather Grace Stewart weaves together modern humor and historical charm in a way that feels fresh and satisfying. If you're a fan of time slips, found family, and love stories that don’t take themselves too seriously but still manage to land the emotional moments, this one will leave you smiling.

This book was such a breath of fresh air and if you need a palate cleanser in between reads- I highly recommend. It feels like a mix between Leap Year & Outlander and if you like lighter time travel reads than this may be up your alley. The FMC travels to Scotland to surprise her online love only to stumble back in time. The setting is wonderful, time period a fun change of pace, and the characters are endearing. 4/5 read for me!

the author has to be able to do these time travel books really well for them to be a win for me. im a huge cynical cynic and so time travel is something that can leave me meh, move on. buuuuut i have also been lucky enough to read some excellent ones. and so each time i see an author or book tickles my fancy in the genre i "leap" to it.
and thankfully i did for this one as Heather has done it well, better than well. and im glad it could be the start of a new series to follow as those are always a hook for me.
and i can honestly say this book gave me joy. i enjoyed reading it. to have that from words and writing is a true gift and a true skill. the timing, the story and the way Heather rights just pulls you in and the writing bounces you along in a happy skippy mood throughout.
the book gives us Mills who is down on her luck in the romance stakes. its given her self confidence a knock and is now transmitting into her writing her lack there of. shes got writers block all right. shes a best seller, how can this happen?
so what else can she do but take a last leap of bravery and a leap into the unknown. and she does this via travelling to Scotland to meet her online love. and what sparks from there gives us gorgeousness from the get to. not only in the present story but also as we soon find ourselves flipping back in time with our pair too.
this was such a refreshingly good read in this genre. i couldn't put it down and it excited me to get stuck back in even after a loo break!
this book needs to be read by anyone needing a good book, better yet a book to bring them joy.
loved it.
my only downside is now the "book fear" of not being lucky enough to read the others in the series...
