Description
'The blood that binds them, may become the weapon to end them'
Reeling from a shocking betrayal, the Star Maiden Astraea must now race against time to break the curse imprisoning her lover, Nyte. She will have to decide if the hand of darkness, or that of her enemy, is an alliance that could bring him back.
But with the loss of daylight and the realm on the brink of ruin, Astraea and her companions must set off on their quest to retrieve the Maiden's broken key, the only weapon that can kill the wrathful gods determined to rule the mortal world.
Dragons will fly and their bonds may choose friend or foe. Gods will face gods, fathers will face sons, and all will face the end of the world. Because when the blood that binds them becomes a weapon to end them, two star-crossed lovers must yield to fate or pay their greatest sacrifice yet.

From the very first page, this book gripped me by the heart and refused to let go. It’s the kind of story that sweeps you into a world of chaos and beauty—where every battle feels personal, every wound leaves a mark, and every flicker of hope hurts just as much as it heals.
This book had my emotions in a whirlwind from the very first page. With curses, falling stars, ruthless gods, and battles at every turn, it was an action-packed ride that never let up. The pacing was beautifully fast without feeling rushed, and I was completely gripped throughout. Honestly, I struggled to keep reading—because I didn’t want it to end. The ending wrapped everything up so perfectly that I closed the book with a warm heart and a deep sense of satisfaction.
Astraea’s hope is both beautiful and heartbreaking. She continues to believe in the good in people, even when they give her no reason to. That unshakable belief just makes her pain hit even harder. Her mental strength is incredible—standing against Lightsdeath when giving in would be so much easier. Her resilience made me want to cry.
Then there’s Auster (The audacity). His self-righteousness and entitlement were infuriating, but it made him such a well-crafted villain. He’s a powerful example of how corruption and manipulation can twist even the most seemingly noble. Alongside other well written villains, the terror is coming from all angles throughout.
Nyte, on the other hand, deserves the world. His control in the face of bloodlust, his ability to step back, and his unwavering love for Astraea were so moving. His determination to stay by her side, no matter what, was truly sweet. He has been through as much as Auster but never fully became the villan, never fully becoming Nightsdeath.
And Dustin—poor Dustin. He’s so clearly broken, burdened by everything he’s endured. Always the strong one, never chosen, just trying to protect his own peace. His relationship with Nyte, especially as they work through their trust issues, was unexpectedly heartwarming. Also, trying to rebuild the friendship with Astraea was lovely to read.
And don’t get me started on the romance. The longing, the devotion, and the unspoken history—it was all so well done. The author crafts relationships with so much emotional depth and nuance, and it’s impossible not to feel every bit of it. Even within friendships and siblings, it's all just so well done.
Honestly, this was the perfect ending to a trilogy. In the end, this story wasn’t just about battles and curses—it was about love, resilience, and the quiet strength it takes to keep believing in something better. The emotional weight, the layered characters, and the deep, aching romance will stay with me for a long time. I didn’t just read this book—I felt it. And I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

What an absolutely fantastic way to end the series!
Yet again, Chloe captures all magic of the story with Nyte and Astraea forbidden love and combines it with fantastical world building and high action adventure.
I adored this series, and this book was an epic, heartstopping roller coaster of a ride.
Such a brilliant collection of characters to love and hate, twists and turns, and epic battles leading to an explosive conclusion. Nothing prepared me for the ride this book took me on or that ending.
That final little connection was such an OMG moment!
This is one of my favourite romantasy series, with two of my favourite characters.
This is exactly how a book should be.
Fast-paced, action-packed, endearing, heartbreaking, and emotionally damaging all at once. Chloe will always be a favourite author of mine and in this awe-inspiring conclusion to the trilogy she proves yet again she is a queen!
🖤✨ Review: The Dark is Descending by C.C.Penaranda✨🖤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐⭐/5
I don’t even know how to function right now because The Dark Is Descending was an absolute masterpiece. If 5 stars is the limit, this deserves 6 stars, a crown, and my entire soul. I laughed, I screamed, I cried, I nearly fell off my chair — this book devoured me whole. Every page felt like fire, every twist had me holding my breath, and I swear my heart rate still hasn’t recovered.
Astraea owns every single moment — fierce and vulnerable in equal measure — and Nyte??? Don’t even get me started. He’s beautiful and magnetic and completely addictive, and their dynamic had me squealing, crying, and pacing my room like a lunatic. The stakes? Astronomical. Every chapter felt like it could shatter me — and honestly, it did.
I am so grateful for my eARC from NetGalley because if I had to wait until December, I might not have survived. But now I’m sitting here devastated because it’s over. This trilogy has carved out a permanent place in my heart, and saying goodbye actually hurts. Chloe C. Peñaranda gave us a finale that was bigger, darker, and more breathtaking than I could have imagined — one of the best reads of 2025, hands down.
