Blurb:
February, 1997. Former racing star Rod Race dies in a brutal hit-and-run—an accident that leaves more questions than answers. Just three months later, his family business, Race Engineering, faces disaster when their latest car crashes during testing. Is this a string of bad luck, or is something far more sinister at play?

Enter Jake Elderfield, a man with his own demons. Desperate to clear his name after a fraud accusation, Jake takes on the high-stakes challenge of saving the company. But as he digs deeper, the truth becomes murkier. Was Rod planning to disappear before his death? And who can Jake trust in this tangled web of intrigue and deceit?

Carina, Rod’s unpredictable daughter, sends mixed signals—one moment an ally, the next a roadblock. James Bishop, a mechanical genius with his own agenda, hides secrets of his own. And then there’s Kat, Carina’s captivating girlfriend, whose loyalties are as uncertain as everyone else’s.

To save the company and solve the mystery of Rod’s death, Jake must use every bit of cunning and resourcefulness he has. But in a world where betrayal lurks around every corner, will it be enough?

Fast-paced, gripping, and filled with twists, Redline is a high-octane crime thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Perfect for fans of psychological suspense, corporate intrigue, and relentless tension.

A fresh, original and gripping thriller.

My Thoughts:
I love a good crime noveI was hooked from the first page. . A satisfying plot which keeps you guessing. Believable characters and a hero whose future adventures I am keen to follow.A fast paced read, full of intriguing twists and turns.Builds up to a fantastic climax. Redline is a fresh take on crime fiction, where the lead isn’t a detective, but an ordinary man caught in a whirlwind of deception, danger, and uncertainty.

This book started with great promise. This is an unusual murder mystery, as it is not a detective trying to solve it. It is a convoluted story of how an executive called Jake, previously renowned for helping businesses which are in trouble, is roped into help the business which produces racing cars. This despite the fact that he has a somewhat murky recent past himself. He battles with a very toxic family, including the dead father, the owner, who appears to have been murdered.
There are no likeable characters in this story, and it is incredibly descriptive, details of every action and scene are described minutely - the old adage for writers ‘ show, don’t tell’ might have helped in this case.
It actually reads as if it might have a future as a screenplay. There was just too much flagging up of what was coming, and required a big suspension of disbelief. Predictable and all neatly wrapped up at the end, I was a bit disappointed I’m sorry to say. .
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book
