This was much better than I had hoped for/expected. It's a spinoff of sorts from Harry Potter, a humorous version of the story we all know and love told from another perspective. The author stays true to the original plot and details with only minor changes to the names of characters and places. Some of them are quite humorous, such as Neville Thongbottom. If you're a fan of Harry Potter, give this quick little story a try!

It is obvious from the title that M. J. Ware’s Harry Plotter and the Chamber of Serpents is a parody of the famous Harry Potter series. Even the many changes of name (such as the houses: Slipperen, Gryffinbore, Ravenbeak and Huffalump) do not hide the fact that Hogworts School of Magic and Mystery is a replica of the Hogwarts everyone knows and loves. The key difference between this book and the original series is that the main character is not Harry Potter…err, Plotter, but an American boy named Austin Winters who, until turning up on the first day of school, did not know that magic existed.

It is amusing to read about Austin’s reactions to the magic he encounters on his first day, and the logic he tries to place behind each phenomenon. He soon cottons on that these tricks are real and finds himself struggling to catch up with his classmates. Despite being sorted into Slipperen house, he is fortunate enough to be given fellow student, Hermione Danger, as a tutor outside of lessons.

As the title suggests, this book is a spoof of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, in which most of the same events occur, but seen through a different person’s eyes. Through his writing Ware comes up with solutions to the unanswered questions from the original novel – things readers may not even have wondered about until reading this story.

Naturally, to understand this novel and appreciate the humour, you need to have read J. K. Rowling’s books. Some extreme Harry Potter fans may feel insulted at the appropriation of the well-loved story, however in no way is Ware attempting to make fun of the legendary characters. In order to avoid copyright issues, any proceeds made will be given to the children’s charity, Lumos.

Harry Plotter and the Chamber of Serpents is a very short tale and can be read within an hour or two. It is funny and exciting however is nowhere near as brilliant The Chamber of Secrets – it would be rather insulting if it were! Those who love everything Harry Potter should definitely give this a try.

Okay I have to admit the title of this book caught my attention. It made me want to read it. I am a die hard fan of Harry Potter. This also takes place around the same time when Harry starts his second year. We meet Austin and american first year at Hogswarts. The sorting hat placed Austin in the House of Serpents. Everyone despises that house. I really enjoyed this book a lot. If you love harry potter this is defiantly the book for you. I hope that they're more books and make it a series. That would be awesome.

I love parody, satire, and humor. This is a clever parody of the original Harry Potter book. I recommend it for reluctant readers--sometimes a good laugh will get the reading ball rolling.

When someone dangles the irresistible carrot of revisiting Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Hogwarts in front of your nose, what can you do except grab it with both hands with undying gratitude? At least that's what I did.

Of course I didn't expect this to be the same as a Rowling book, but I hoped it might soothe that spot inside that feels it was cheated by the ending of the series. Did it work? Yes and no.

You do get very short appearances of Harry and Ron and a lot more than that of Hermione, but it feels almost as if you're standing down a long dark corridor and you can see glimpses of the Harry Potter magic happening far down at the other end. You try and you try, but you just can't get any closer to the magic no matter what you do. Still, for a true HP fan glimpses down a long corridor are better than nothing, right?

Enjoy a little visit to Hogwarts for old time's sake.

This was the first time I have read a parody of Harry Potter. I thought it was pretty clever and liked how elements from the Chamber of Secrets book were woven in. Because it has been awhile since I have read Chamber of Secrets I am sure I missed some of the connections. For fans of the Harry Potter series who are yearning for more Hogwarts (or Hogworts) then this may be a fun read.

I absolutely loved this book! There's nothing more I can say, it's amazing. If you loved Harry Potter, you will love this parody/spin off, it was just epic. And the way it mixed in with the original story was just so smart. I hope there's more to come!

I'm from the Potter generation. I grew up with Harry Potter and his story so I was excited to see this and than read it. I wondered if this would help fill that small hole that needed some more Harry Potter in my life. And it kind of did. Not all the way but a little.
M.J. Ware has written a Harry Potter Parody that is similar to the second Harry Potter book but adds in comedy and a little twist in that an American has been given the ability to attend Hogwarts as a student and learn magic.
I found myself laughing throughout the whole book but could not rate it more than 3 stars because it was so close to the second Harry Potter book. I wanted something different not something that was so close.
Overall it's a enjoyable and quick read that I think Harry Potter fans will enjoy.

What a hoot this book was! Readers of Harry Potter, who aren't too serious about the stories, will laugh through this one. The story line was easy to follow, as were the characters with their "different" names. I enjoyed reading about a different "hero" rather than Harry, as well as laughed out loud from time to time.

This was entertaining for sure, anything that puts me back in the world of Hogwarts is good to me!

Cute, fun, I'd probably read another one but not anything to say wow about. A decent parody for fans.

Even though I'm much older than I would like to admit, I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan! So this was a nice treat to read some Harry fanfiction! It felt a bit odd reading about an American in Hogwarts (McDonald's next ?), I really appreciated a new magical read from another viewpoint. Thanks for this awesome story, I really enjoyed myself again in the hall of Hogwarts!

This is the story of Harry Potter & the chamber of secrets told from the point of view of an American Slytherin. Love that! Gives you a fresh perspective on Slytherins.

The use of the word parody on this book threw me. I thought it would be making fun of Harry Potter but it was absolutely not. It is fan fiction with the names of people and places changed slightly. At first it's funny to notice the name changes but before long you just substitute the JK Rowling names without thinking about it.

I enjoyed it so much & I have already recommended it to several friends. As of today is is a free ebook on Amazon.
