Description

Two ex-step-siblings. One house. Zero chill.

Archie Forsythe has two weeks left in the South Bay beach house his father gifted him—before demanding it back as part of a very messy divorce settlement. The plan? Stall the paperwork, stay under the radar, and figure out how to finally launch his surfwear brand without Dad’s money, approval, or interference.

The problem? Piper Quinn. His ex-step-sister. Current pain in his...neck. And—thanks to a surprise legal twist—the house's new co-occupant.

Piper has no interest in rekindling anything with the Forsythe family… especially not with Archie, who spent her teenage years treating her like a walking cringe compilation. But with no money, no apartment, and a prestigious fashion internship starting in three days, she’s not about to give up a free oceanfront address—no matter who else is living there.

Now, they're locked in a battle of wills and passive-aggressive pranks. He hides her coffee. She hides his towels. They both insist the other should leave. But as the days pass, and the tension rises, the real question is:

What happens when your worst roommate becomes your unexpected weakness?

A sweet, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy with forced proximity, hilarious pranks, and crackling tension. Perfect for fans of The Roommate Situation by Katie Bailey, That Fine Line by Cindy Steel, and Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surfer prank war romcom

Review by Emily Christopher in the United States on August 16, 2025

This is book number two in the Love in LA series. While part of a series, this can be read as a standalone. Larsen really stepped up the vibe in this second installment. It has more depth, more vulnerability, and much more heart. Piper just graduated and has an internship a very high-end fashion label but does not have two pennies to her name and needs somewhere to live. Her mother in the process of getting divorced from her ex and she gets the very luxurious beach house. Piper’s mom offers her to live there while she does her intership. What Piper does not know is that Archie is still living there and has no intention of leaving. What erupts is a prank war between “mortal enemies” and then blends into a relationship when the tension begins to shift. Will they continue to keep up the prank antics or will they allow their relationship to evolve into something beautiful?

When Archie was introduced in the first book, I was immediately drawn to his character. This story is a dual narration by both Archie and Piper, in their respective perspectives. I love dual narration stories, it really gives you a glimpse of both sides of the coin. Piper is strong, resilient, and caring. Archie is charming, compassionate, and loyal to a fault. They are salt and pepper initially and engage in a prank war for the ages. The characters were developed well with depth, witty banter, chemistry, and passion, so much passion. The supporting characters were amazing, really elevated our main characters. I especially loved Archie’s sister. The author’s writing style was complex, funny, elevated with the prank war, engaging, and beautifully written.

I have read all of the books under this pen and have loved each and every story. Larsen has a way with words that just brings joy to my heart, one of the beautiful purposes of reading. I read the ARC a little bit ago and just had the opportunity to refresh my memory with the Search term:audio ARC and the narrators were fantastic, especially Archie’s Australian accept, perfection! I highly recommend this story, along with Britta’s story that kicked off the series. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Archie's accent in the audio is swoony

The character growth of Archie drew me into the story--he goes from bully to oblivious to well-meaning but misguided to a solid book boyfriend. This enemies to lovers, step-siblings romance started with pranks that escalate (some feel a bit mean, but most are written in a way that is humorous). Lots of witty banter, many laugh out loud moments, and interconnections with books earlier in the series make this a great read.

I listened to Terms of Unendearment, and the narration was engaging and brought the story to life, especially Archie's Australian accent, which was swoony
