Description
Poor Hector. Tempus fugit, and our intrepid psychiatrist is not feeling quite as young as he used to. His current patients are concerned with time too. One feels she's always in a hurry, as if there's a clock ticking in her tummy - she would like time to slow down. But there's also a boy who wishes time would hurry along and turn him into an adult. And a third patient counts his remaining years of life in terms of how many dogs he'll have time to own. Hector feels he must get to the bottom of this time business and to do so, of course, a round-the-world adventure is required. Follow Hector as he sets off to uncover nuggets of universal wisdom on time. Who better to find out about the past, the future and how best to enjoy the present than the hero of Hector and the Search for Happiness and Hector and the Secrets of Love?

In this book Hector, the psychiatrist goes off in search of an old monk he knows in order to help him understand the meaning of time. Along the way he relates some lessons he's learned. Some, which come from his patients are so funny that I laughed out loud. Patient Hubert is especially interesting in that he measures time according to how many dog's lives he has left.
If you've ever thought about getting older or the meaning of time this little gem of a book is for you. It's amusing, entertaining and profound at the same time. Many of Hector's lessons and time exercises are thought provoking and shouldn't be missed.

This is a nice, quick read. Our hero, Hector, is a psychiatrist who goes on a journey to unravel the mysteries of time. Why does time go slowly for some people and quicker for others? Why do some people want to grow up quickly, while others are happy at the age they are? How do you look at the past, present and future?
The book is simply written yet touches on many aspects – including science, philosophy, religion and poetry. As Hector progresses he makes notes of “time exercises” to complete – some of which are quite thought-provoking. However the book does seem quite repetitive in parts, and ironically I kept checking my kindle for how long I had left of the book to read!

The thing about the Hector series is I am completely in love with them. However, I couldn't read this book because like the other two books it begins exactly the same way and to be perfectly honest it creates a boring read.
I know as a fan this brief backstory of Hector doesn't last long but it last long enough for me to put the book down.
I do however plan on reading this book just not at the moment when I am finish fangirling over Hector and the Secrets of Love.
