Mark Hudson, a seasoned SAS operative and veteran of the Iraq and Afghan conflicts, is thrust into a high-stakes mission in the sweltering heat of Belgrade, July 2008. His team is tasked with assisting the International War Crimes Tribunal in capturing Europe’s most-wanted fugitive – Rade Karović, the infamous "Beast of Bosnia."

The mission leads them to a gritty Belgrade neighbourhood, where Karović hides in plain sight as a New Age healer. Karović is a living embodiment of the Serbs’ volatile history, and Mark's unit must battle the Serb nationalist deep state and organized crime gangs. As the net tightens, Karović's allies plan a daring escape to Russia. Mark’s team captures him but is ambushed by former Serbian special forces. Outnumbered and cut off from support, they must rely on their SAS training in a showdown on the runway to stop Karović's private jet.

Mark interrogates the warlord, expecting simple answers to difficult questions. Instead, he gets a chilling confrontation with Karović's justifications for genocide. The former Bosnian Serb leader skilfully turns the tables, forcing the SAS soldier to examine his own actions, leaving him to wrestle with the stark realisation that he is no better than his prisoner.
