Description
The first book in the riotously funny dark romantasy series following a conflicted villain and his unstoppable bride who form the realm’s most chaotic alliance. Perfect for fans of Assistant to the Villain.
Step One: Kidnap someone cute.
Step Two: Force her into marriage.
Step Three: Try not to get feelings.
When Dark Lord Kazimir Blackrose kidnaps Lady Arabella and forces her to marry him, he expects an obedient bride. What he gets is a knife to the throat and a furious woman with demands of her own. He may need her heroic bloodline to achieve ultimate dominion, but she’s not about to make it easy for him.
After a lifetime of being treated like property, getting abducted by the realm’s most notorious villain is just another Tuesday for Arabella. If she must be married to the infuriating (and infuriatingly attractive) Dark Lord, she’ll do it on her own terms.
But when his plans go awry, Kazimir faces his most terrifying challenge yet: He must actually date his own wife.
Between magical training sessions, playing golf with the eyeballs of his enemies and ‘romantic’ dinners gone spectacularly wrong, Kazimir's villainous seduction plans are failing at every turn. But, as they navigate magical explosions and jealous exes, the pair discover a far more terrifying prospect than war or magical catastrophe: They might actually be falling for each other.
This dark and sexy fantasy romance is perfect for readers who love:
- A morally grey antihero (who stays that way)
- A strong heroine who embraces her dark side (she doesn't need rescuing, thanks)
- Touch her and die
- Hilarious, wicked banter and sizzling spice
- One bed/forced proximity
- Kidnapped bride/forced marriage
- Dark humour

Oh I had high hopes for this novel but the title alone. It delivered and then some.
Let me set the scene. We have Kazimir our dangerous and dark brooding villain. His plans for realm domination have finally reached fruition, but he finds himself in need of a bride with heroic blood. How does he solve this problem? Well he just takes a bride and marries her right away. Our leading lady, Arabella, has led a pretty shackled lifestyle with her father. So although she is mad at being kidnapped and forced to wed, she can’t help but be intrigued. Especially when Kaz might be the key to unlocking her full potential.
First, the characters. Kaz is a villain with a heart of gold, although he cherishes murder and chaos- he still has his limits. He’s complex, he has layers and I love him. Arabella is so fierce, even when she’s thrown into a completed bewildering world- so different from what’s she’s used to. She embraces it wholeheartedly as she comes into her power. I love her too.
The setting is simple and easily digestible, sometimes I find fantasy books can really drag out the world building- even if it doesn’t move the plot forward. This was not the case here, I had the perfect vision of where we were and what was happening.
Enemies, to reluctant allies, to lovers. Yes please. Absolutely delicious. The spice was definitely more on the spicy side and Kaz is a well and true shadow daddy. I cannot wait for the next instalment in this series. I had such a great time and I have so many more questions.

I really enjoyed the book.
Morally black Kaz and Morally grey Arabella!
It was really easy to fall into the world constructed.
It was easy to understand and the book flowed really well.
I loved Kaz and Arabella, they were loveable, endearing, the banter, tension and yearning.
I’ve ordered the book from Waterstones in the UK I enjoyed it so much.
Oh I DEVOURED this, it's exactly what I enjoy in fantasy romance, I loved the humour it had me giggling and guffawing in equal measure (do people even guffaw these days?) It was over all too soon, fast paced and a ton of fun, highly recommend to fantasy/romance fans! Excited to see what else Scarlett Press does in future!
I’m so glad I got offered the chance to read the ARC of The Dark Lord’s Guide to Dating, what a wild and wonderful ride from start to finish! Tiffany Hunt brings together dark fantasy vibes and romantic comedy charm in one irresistibly delightful package.
The tone is playful, witty, and cheeky. I laughed out loud more than once at the banter between characters, and adored how the book balances humor with genuine emotional depth. The “dark lord meets love interest” premise could’ve been messy or cliche, but Hunt spins it into something fresh, fun, and full of heart which made this a refreshing read.
I loved the characters, they’re flawed, hilarious, and surprisingly relatable. Watching them grow, change, and learn to trust each other felt emotionally satisfying, even amid all the chaos and chaos driven hijinks. The romance builds with real tension and stakes, and the dynamics are just so much fun.
The pacing is perfect: the story moves quickly, but never rushes character development. I found myself smiling all the way through, rooting for my favorite pairing, and eagerly turning pages until the satisfying ending.
If you enjoy romantic comedy and fantasy with a dash of danger and a LOT of heart, this book is an absolute gem. Thank you, NetGalley and publisher, for letting me read this — I’m already excited to see what comes next
The Dark Lord's Guide to Dating is so addictive I found myself staying up way too late and grabbing every spare minute to read it. The dark lord (MMC) kidnaps the FMC and makes her marry him. The romantic tension, the action, the sheer possessiveness of the MMC, the character development of the FMC all make this book stand out. No notes. Read if you love arranged marriages, morally grey MMCs and romantasy perfection.
Thank you for the e-arc.

The title of this book immediately drew me in and this book certainly did not disappoint. I devoured this book in a couple of days and could not get enough of Kaz and Arabella. Dark Lord and morally grey hero. Enemies to lovers. Villain who falls first. Tropes I love and likeable characters, with a fast paced and interesting story throughout. Also a pet shadow dragon- what it there not to like about this book? Cannot wait to read the next part of their dark, love story. One of my favourite reads of 2025!
This was such a fun and unexpected read. It blends fantasy with romantic comedy in a really casual, tongue-in-cheek way. You’re following this dark lord character who’s used to ruling with fear, but now he’s trying to figure out dating, and honestly, it’s hilarious watching him stumble through it.
The writing is playful and clever. I liked that it didn’t take itself too seriously. There were some moments where I actually laughed out loud, especially when the dark lord was trying to “flirt” but still sounding like he was about to conquer a kingdom. The contrast between his evil persona and the awkwardness of dating was really entertaining.
The romance is light but sweet, and I appreciated that the love interest had personality and wasn’t just there to serve the dark lord’s storyline. Their dynamic had a bit of banter and charm, which made the story move along nicely.
Overall, if you’re in the mood for something light, quirky, and different from your usual fantasy reads, this one’s worth picking up. It’s a quick and enjoyable read that doesn’t try too hard, which honestly made it even better.
*thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
Oh my goodness, this is how you do it! This is how you craft enemies-to-lovers with red flags doing green things and manage to avoid upsetting sensitive readers like me. It’s a writing masterpiece. I was hooked from the very first page, and I wish I had the audiobook so I could dive even deeper into the story. The humour, the writing style and the incredible power Hunt has created when these two characters bonded—it’s just amazing. I swooned, giggled, gasped and turned the page. I need this to become a movie or a streaming-series. ASAP.
These two people have captured my heart and feelings long after I finished reading, and I can’t tell you how much I loved this story. Bravo! I want everyone to experience the same thrill I felt when I first read it. Pure, thrilling, evil and funny from beginning to end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for playing with my emotions in the best way possible.
This book absolutely wrecked me, in the best way. I didn’t even realize how badly I needed a story like this until I finished it and immediately thought, “Well… now what?” It was that addictive. I laughed nonstop, and the world-building was phenomenal, refreshing and unlike anything I’ve read recently.
The author has a brilliant talent for balancing unhinged humor with a rich, sinister edge. It’s chaotic, hilarious, and deliciously dark all at once. And the slow burn? Painfully slow in the most satisfying way. As for the spice… let’s just say the structural integrity of the Castle of Kazimir was truly put to the test. Kazimir and Arabella’s chemistry was off the charts, with banter that was sharp, hilarious, and relentless. He’d try to intimidate her, and she’d dismantle his entire “Dark Lord” aura with a single comeback.
That ending left me reeling! I need the next book now. With that cliffhanger, I know we’re in for absolute chaos moving forward. If you love morally gray, slightly villainous men, a powerhouse FMC with insane abilities, razor-sharp banter, and truly unhinged spice, this needs to go straight onto your TBR. Immediately.
This book is pure, gleeful chaos—in the best way. delivers a dark romantasy that knows exactly what it’s doing: flipping villain tropes on their head while leaning hard into sharp humour, forced proximity, and a romance that crackles with tension. Kazimir Blackrose may be a Dark Lord with grand plans for domination, but watching him get absolutely dismantled by his own kidnapped bride is half the fun. Arabella is no damsel—she’s furious, fearless, and fully prepared to negotiate her forced marriage with a blade at his throat.
What really makes this story shine is the banter and chemistry. The “try not to get feelings” plan fails spectacularly as Kazimir is forced to date his own wife, resulting in hilariously disastrous dinners, unhinged villain activities, and a slow, delicious slide into mutual obsession. The humour is dark, the romance is spicy without losing heart, and both characters remain unapologetically morally grey. If you love a strong heroine who embraces her darker impulses, a villain who stays villainous, and a chaotic one-bed, forced-marriage romance that actually delivers on its promises, this is an absolute win—especially for fans of Assistant to the Villain.

This was such a fun read! I love a good villain gets the girl story. This book was witty, hilarious, and the banter was to die for (literally). Kaz was hilarious, though a bit evil. And I loved him for it while Arabella is powerful strong, passionate, and a bit stabby. ( which is a must for me.) I loved that she felt real. She thinks before she acts or talks. Their chemistry was great. This book was just what I needed.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC
“Good girl” moment.
In a library.
From HIS point of view!!!
If this didn’t convince you to read this book, I don’t know what will.
But if you still need more convincing, I do have a few more reasons, my friend.
Our beloved Kazimir is:
a villain, hot, obviously (if villain, why hot?)
a shadow daddy, yep
a possessive anti-hero, aha
and he knows what he wants, and what he wants is his wife.
Did I convince you yet?
Still no?
Ok, I have one more.
We have really good banter, and what I loved most about this book is the fact that the banter didn’t become less sharp after they became lovers. They kept the same dynamic as from the beginning.
And we know what good banter leads to, yes?
Yes, we do!
Good spicy scenes! Correct!
And we have plenty in this book right here!
I think I convinced you by now.
If not, just go read the book and see for yourself.
Thank you Scarlett Press UK and NetGalley for the advanced e-copy! I loved it! What a great start to the year!
