I have come to have unreasonably high expectations from L.M. Chilton since the first time I was sent a copy of their work and they've never let me down. I'm happy to say, the streak continues.

I Think We Should Kill Other People is a wickedly clever murder mystery; high concept with exceptional characters and a meticulously crafted atmosphere of anxiety. It was so entertaining, with plenty of funny moments, playing with being so relatable and larger than life at the same time.

You'd think after a very dramatic runaway bride moment, Hazel couldn't find herself in a worse situation but here she is, in a dirty wedding dress, stranded at a teensy airport with a jilted ex, horrible family and a mass murderer.

Hazel was a delightful narrator, leading us head first into a locked room murder mystery layered with family drama, high stakes and countless reveals waiting to be found. She takes us through the terrifying night at the airport, and flashes back to the last week on the show, or 'social experiment' so we can piece together the major players, their backstories, and how this couple got together, engaged and broke up in just a week. Each and every time you think you've finally figured it all out, there's another spanner in the works and we're back to suspecting everyone.

We felt the isolation of the small waiting room, the frigid cold of the snow storm outside, the deep distrust and suspicion of the cast - and the delicious confusion about who really has all the answers. This is just one of those books that is simply impossible to stop reading and I adored every single page.

What an addictive read this was, I found myself racing through the pages, eager to find out just what was happening.

We get chapters based on the various "episodes" of the experiment that Hazel and Marc are involved in, of a reality show that uses sophisticated AI to decide how strong a match they are.

However on the day that Hazel leaves Marc at the altar after a whirlwind two weeks of getting to know each other, she ends up in a far more precarious situation.

Trapped in a small Norwegian airport with her now ex, plus some of his family and the producer of the show, while the weather grounds planes.

And I never want to visit this airport, as it doesn't take long for the dead bodies to start mounting.

At times I was even wondering if anyone would be alive at the end of the book!

This was fast paced from start to finish, and I barely had time to try to guess murder or motive.

Loads of twists and just a a really quick and easy, while addictive book to read

The story follows a 'Married-at-First-Sight' type TV show contestant who has walked out of her wedding, only to get stranded overnight at the tiny, remote airport trying to get home. Unfortunately for her, her ex-fiancé is stuck there too, along with his step-mum, cousin and uncle (the in-laws from hell).

One-by-one, the bodies start turning up, and a night of terror, suspicion and shocking twists unfolds. Is one of them the killer? Or is there a murderer loose in the airport too? It''s up to Hazel (and her Alexa-type AI helper) to find out.

This book is a cross between a dark rom-com and a movie like Bodies Bodies Bodies. Fast paced, romantic, thrilling and ultimately a wild & crazy ride. I've not had this much fun with a book for AGES.

Can’t tell you how much I adore Chilton’s writing. (But I will, because that’s what reviews are for.)
This novel had me second guessing myself right up until the last few pages, and that made me want to absolutely speed through.
Murder, mystery, intrigue, characters who feel flawed and real, beautiful locations, and it’s also incredibly funny. May a love like this find me. Or not. That’s up to CILLA.

I so enjoyed this book, and I found it to be L. M. Chilton's best work yet!

The concept is relevant to our modern age, a dating game using AI - what could possibly go wrong? Hazel is our main character and I found her to be very interesting and funny. All of the characters were fleshed out enough that I felt I knew them all, without there being too many.

I genuinely enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery, and was happy with the conclusion. Everything tied up very nicely - even things I thought the author might forget about! I felt the depiction of the AI was absolutely perfect and truly hilarious.

I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of murder mystery, and wish I could read it again for the first time!

I absolutely loved this book.

I’ve now read all three of Luke’s books, and every single one has been enjoyable, fun, and incredibly well written. He has quickly become one of my favourite authors.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, which I was genuinely excited about, and it did not disappoint.

The story follows FMC Hazel, who signs up for a dating reality show in hopes of finding her soulmate. However, things are not quite as they seem. She meets Marc—who also happens to be a billionaire—and the two begin to develop real feelings for each other. But alongside the romance comes murder… and a lot of it. The questions quickly pile up: why is this happening, who is responsible, and can Marc truly be trusted?

This book was fun, fast-paced, and incredibly intriguing. I especially appreciated the inclusion of backstory, which was easy to follow and seamlessly woven into the narrative. Luke has a fantastic writing style—it flows naturally, everything makes sense, and there are no plot holes. Even when he creates intentionally unbearable characters, you still enjoy the journey.

At this point, I would happily read anything Luke writes. He is genuinely a wonderful writer.

The twists and turns were another highlight. I didn’t see any of them coming—and I usually do with whodunnits. The mystery was executed brilliantly, the reveal had strong motivation behind it, and just when you think everything is settled, more twists are thrown in.

I also loved how CILLA was used in the story. It felt extremely relevant and timely given how prevalent AI is in our lives today, and it added an extra layer of intrigue.

Overall, I loved this book. Highly recommended!!!

Most of the book is based is a very small airport in Norway with flash backs throughout the book connecting everything together brilliantly.
With a snow storm halting all flights and one of the party is killed, this is the perfect who dun it mixed with humour and modern technology. I couldn’t put this book down the entire time. I laughed, I got stressed, I love watching everything fall into place. Genuinely probably will be my favourite book of the month and most definitely my favourite out of all of L.M. Chilton books!

Having absolutely loved "Everyone in the Group Chat Dies", when I saw this book available I just had to read it. I was not disappointed. Chilton weaves comedy and mystery into a beautiful synchronicity that is hard to take your eyes away from.

We start with Hazel, London-based star contestant of the newest dating show. Using AI tools, she has been chosen from the crowd to marry playboy heir to a large corporate, Marc Van Batten. But on the way to the altar, she bolts, leaving the wedding and fleeing to the nearest airport, hoping to get back home. A freak snow storm leaves Hazel, her ex-groom, and his family trapped in said airport. With a murderer.

I love a closed door mystery. And this one does not disappoint. Twists and turns. Awkward moments. Ridiculous ex-in-laws. Even a cutesie, Watson-like AI to brighten your day and help solve your mystery. What's not to like?

Truly a thrill to read.

I first read Chilton by mistake, I typically only read mysteries and thrillers and their first was close but not quite a thriller. I fell in love with the writing and have read all of the novels since.

These are funny, and there is obviously a mystery here, but unlike most thrillers, I didn’t want the answer I just wanted it to last forever.
My favourite part of this novel was the description and atmosphere of the isolated airport. This was done so well and was effortlessly anxious.

An absolute must for any readers that enjoy witty and sharp dialogue and twisty thrills around each corner.

This was so much fun! Hazel and Marc are flawed, funny, annoying to each other and surrounded by people starting to be victims of a murderer. They suspect each other, the others trapped in the airport and both have different motives for why they are there that potentially could be worse than what’s going on.
A really fun read!

Having loved L.M. Chilton’s first two books, I had high hopes for this one, and it didn’t let me down!

The story is about Hazel, who ditches her wedding on a reality TV show, only to get trapped in a snowy airport with her ex and his family. When people start dying, she has to use the show's AI assistant to find the killer.

It has everything I enjoy about Chilton’s writing: it’s fast-paced, very witty, and full of twists I didn’t see coming. It’s the perfect mix of a scary "locked-room" mystery and a satire about modern dating and AI.

If you like stories that make you laugh one minute and gasp the next, you need to read this. Chilton is now officially one of my "must-buy" authors!

This book is absolute fast-paced fun.

Hazel is our narrator. She’s just arrived at a small isolated airport in Norway during a blizzard wearing the remains of her wedding dress and a hoodie. She desperately wants to flee. As she rushes towards the departure lounge, the airport closes due to the storm. And the other people waiting in the departure lounge? They are none too pleased to see her, or she them.

Hazel was on a new reality-type dating show called Love Synced that uses AI to match people to their soulmate. She was matched to Marc, and after two weeks of episodes, off they went to Norway to be married. But what happened that she fled, leaving him at the altar and his wealthy family embarrassed and aghast? That’s where the twists and turns begin with Hazel, her now ex Marc, and this insufferable family stuck at the departure lounge. One by one, dead bodies mount up. Is there a killer among them?

I really enjoyed this book. It’s fast-paced. The characters are well written. There’s humour, sarcasm, and lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Great book, great humor, great suspense. While the twist was slightly predictable due to the nature of the characters available, it was still very well written and I really enjoyed it.

I thought I knew what happened from the first chapter of this book, but with each subsequent chapter my assumptions were totally turned upside down — the twists and turns here kept me on the edge of my seat until the very final page!

Hazel is the FMC and she’s in full survival mode from page one. She just ditched her “perfect AI soulmate match” at the altar on national TV (iconic behavior, honestly), and all she wants is to get on a plane and disappear. Instead, she’s stuck in a tiny Norwegian airport with:

-his obnoxiously rich family
-a massive snowstorm
-and then… a serial killer starts thinning the group 😭

Why it works

-The premise is SO good. “AI matched us to be soulmates” is already messy, and then you throw in murder? Sold.
-Locked-room vibes, but modern. Tiny airport, nobody can leave, bodies start dropping. It’s claustrophobic in the fun way.
-Hazel is sassy and messy and hiding secrets. She’s the kind of narrator who makes everything entertaining even when people are literally dying.
-It’s funny while still being a thriller. Not “try-hard comedy,” more like sharp, sarcastic, “are you kidding me right now” humor.
-Twists keep coming. You think you’ve got it figured out and then the book goes “lol no” and flips the whole thing.

This was a brilliant read from start to finish. Each chapter gave an insight to what had happened before with Hazel and Marc and the lead up to their current situation in a very lone dark airport on a Norwegian Island. One by one of the family is dead when Hazel finds them. This had all the classic British dark comedy humour all the way throughout the book. While at first I thought I had guessed who it was, I was wrong until at least halfway through. I did feel for Hazel being the Van Batten's future daughter in law until towards the end with an unexpected twist! Some of the family members were a bit dysfunctional apart from Marc. A fantastic and engaging read.

This is the first book from this author that I have read and after finishing this one I am going back to read his other works.

There were so many twists and turns in this book and I loved every second of it! The storyline was fantastic and had really solid characters. I didn't manage to guess the ending of the book so was pleased as it kept me wanting to read more to find out the mystery.

If you want to read a dark rom-com with a married at first sight reality tv show theme then this is the book for you, words can't describe how much I enjoyed reading it!

This was such an enjoyable, clever read - packed with humour, sharp observations, and a genuinely gripping mystery. The tone struck the perfect balance between light and dark, with so many funny touchpoints woven into the story (I’m never going to look at a Toblerone the same way again… IYKYK 😅).

The concept completely hooked me, think Married at First Sight meets Murder, She Wrote. It absolutely appealed to my guilty-pleasure love of reality TV (sorry… “social experiments” 😉), while still delivering a solid whodunnit that kept me guessing.

I flew through this book and genuinely didn’t see the twist coming at all. It was smart, entertaining, and refreshingly different - one of those reads that’s just fun without being silly. A brilliant blend of satire, suspense, and murder.

ha, loved reading this book so much. that title still makes me smile when i come to look at it now for this review. this was a total switch up to the dating show premise. and what a great fresh take it was too.
Hazel signs up to the Love Synched show. so far so good right. and for this one she will end up being matched to a very eligible bachelor indeed. well, even better right? yes, until it isn't and Hazel cant go through with it. it doesn't feel right so she flees, leaving his family angry and perhaps the production company not so pleased either. she wants to just fly home and escape. but this becomes an issue when she is trapped by a blizzard at the airport. oh yeh, trapped with his family too...
this might just be about to get a lot more difficult too when there appears to be a killer on the loose. im sorry but the first death deserves a hahahaha from me. oh my golly so apt for an airport death. you wait people you will see what i mean and laugh out loud too when you get to it.
from then on Hazel is on her own, she needs to find out who and what is going on here. they are trapped so she doesn't have an option if she wants to be safe.
this was such a bright and fun read. i couldn't get enough. it just felt like it was bouncing me along the pages and i loved that. i know it should feel this way with murder. but you know what i mean. its that kind of book. and it shines at being like this.
its so full of wit and humour that i love. that dry and compelling humour that just makes you feel uplifted. that clever humour that just hits the hard parts of your mood.
this book doesn't get gimmicky or cliche. it doesn't turn into anything its not just for tropes,clicks or boxes to fill for the genre. it was entirely its own and felt like it could only ever be this.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s got a great setting, it’s a really fun and modern concept, a bit of tongue in cheek commentary. I read an eARC of this book on NetGalley so thank you to the author and the publisher.

This book is largely set in a very remote airport in Norway during a storm. So the isolation is pretty extreme! It’s an awful situation where our main character finds herself trapped at a gate with the worst possible people. The man she just left at the alter and his family. This setting was so entertaining with the creative ways airport features were integrated into some of the dramatic moments in the story. It also brought in unusual challenges as they find most of the staff have gone home and they’re stuck with no communication and only a vending machine for food. It’s a very stressful place to get trapped, even without the family nightmare!

While the bulk of the story takes place in the airport, we do flash back to the events that took place to find our main character trapped there. She had been taking part in a TV programme that aimed to use AI to help people find and marry their soulmate, using data to assess their compatibility leading to a fairytale wedding in a remote Norwegian castle, if they can get their score where it needs to be. The AI was quite funny. The main character consults it to try and make sense of what’s happening and solve the ongoing mystery. Sometimes it’s helpful, sometimes not. Sometimes its statistics are a bit too honest! I found this entertaining and it was an unusual concept. This book felt really modern in some of the concepts it explored, but also rooted in traditional mystery storytelling.

A brilliant read. Got me from page one. Why did did Hazel ditch Marc at the altar why has Julian got a black eye. All Hazel wants to do is go home but then is trapped at the airport with the family from hell.

I loved this book! Classic whodunnit with some very modern twists. The characters were few and well developed, giving the reader an instant like (or dislike) of certain people.
The twists were great, some I saw coming and some I definitely did not.

The story and setting is simple but very effective and I love the way it touched on the modern way of AI and algorithms whilst giving that timeless murder mystery vibe.

I don’t think I can ever look at a toblerone the same way again.

An extremely enjoyable book. It's a fast paced, trapped in a snow storm murder mystery. Hazel and Marc are chosen as the perfect couple in TV dating game using AI. Hazel backs out at the alter and rushes to the airport to leave. Unfortunately Marc and his family arrive before she can leave, then the snow storm traps them at airport. People start to die.
The story switches between the selection process and the current day airport. The author cleverly weaves the timelines and the characters . The only negative is that I do not get the title.

This was truly an addicting read - starting this while on a holiday with very little reading time I somehow managed to finish this over a 36 hour period because I didn’t want to do anything but read.

This felt like a really innovative locked room thriller - I loved the icy setting and the airport setting made things even more exciting. Having read the author’s previous works I always know I’m going to enjoy the inclusion of technology but the matching of Marc and Hazel through an AI-led dating show (sorry, social experiment) and the use of the watch throughout was really fun (CILLA is the best friend we all need sometimes).

As always with L.M Chilton’s work I can’t wait to see what he does next and will definitely be diving in as soon as I can.

This is Chiltons 3rd and latest book, and yet another 5 star absolute banger.

Death by Toblerone is how I'd like to go please.
I did figure out one of the twists pretty early on, but this never stops me enjoying! And the ending I didn't expect but left me satisfied!
I really enjoyed the dual timeline of the TV show and then the airport, and these were very clearly distinguishable.
The only negative I can think of is how bingeable his writing is, and having to wait so long for the next book!

The story is told across two timelines: the present, when everyone is stranded at the airport, and the preceding weeks, when Hazel first applied to be a contestant. 💍

I love a comedy thriller and this was exactly what I was looking for. I loved this read hazel was such an interesting character

This was such an amazing comedy thriller, every time I picked it up I didn't want to put it back down. The characters were great and you're thrown right into the thick of it from the vert beginning. Honestly this was a super addicting read, a perfect book for summer or if you want a slightly lighthearted thriller. I can't recommend enough!

I absolutely devoured *I Think We Should Kill Other People* by L.M. Chilton. Such a clever, original concept that completely hooked me from the start, and I raced through it way faster than I meant to.

The whole premise is brilliant, mixing reality TV with murder in a way that feels both outrageous and completely addictive. It taps into that voyeuristic, competitive energy of reality shows and twists it into something much darker, which made it impossible to look away. Every chapter pulls you deeper into the chaos, and it constantly kept me guessing about where things were going next.

Chilton just keeps getting better with every book. I already loved his previous two, but this one really feels like a step up. It is sharper, darker, and even more confident in its tone, balancing humour and tension so well. There were so many moments that genuinely made me laugh, followed immediately by moments that made me slightly uncomfortable in the best way.

The characters were a real standout for me too. There are so many brilliantly written personalities, especially the ones you absolutely love to hate. They feel so vivid and real, and the dynamics between them add so much to the story. I found myself constantly changing my mind about who I liked and who I trusted, which made the whole reading experience even more fun.

It is also just such an easy book to binge. The pacing is spot on, with short, punchy chapters that keep the momentum going, and enough twists and surprises to keep you completely invested. I kept telling myself I would stop after one more chapter and then suddenly I was halfway through the book.

If you like dark humour, messy characters, and a plot that keeps you flying through the pages, this is definitely one to pick up. It is clever, entertaining, and just a little bit unhinged in the best possible way. Huge recommend.

Later, they all find themselves at a tiny airport, waiting to board their plane back home, only to find that a storm is blowing in and that the flight will not depart until it is safe to do so. The airport is evacuated except for the wedding party and one staff member.
Trapped in the airport with people who hate her, Hazel heads off to the bathroom to give herself a bit of breathing space where she comes across the body of one of the passengers. And so begins a trail of hate and destruction with the bodies mounting. Who can be the killer amongst them?
This book was amazing! I loved every page. Part rom-com and part murder myster, it ticks all the boxes.

I knew I was going to love this book just from the title and the cover, but the actual story topped it off! The premise was so unique- I especially loved the reality TV program element and the inclusion of Cilla the AI. It added such a clever, modern layer to the plot.

I truly loved everything about this book: the characters, the dark humor, and the pacing. I did a mix of listening to the audiobook and reading the physical book, and I’d highly recommend both formats. It's a wild, fun ride from start to finish!

Speaking of darkly humorous and twisted stories, L. M. Chilton has quickly become a must-read author for me. Like Evans, they occupy this distinctive space within a crowded genre and continually deliver compelling and comedic stories that are an exhilarating thrill to read. This latest outing has an irresistible hook, think Married at First Sight meets The Bachelor but with murder. There’s a dash of the pitch black comedy of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone but married with this peek behind the curtain of reality TV. We’re aware of the nightmarish stories that have come from these scripted reality shows, particularly those centring around dating. There are well-explored issues around bigotry in many forms within these shows, both on and off camera. Chilton tackles this square on here with a story that strips away the glitz and glamour and exposes the achingly vulnerable heart at its core. It is a layered story with unexpected twists and turns along the way.

I enjoyed the way it is both a romance and a murder mystery at the same time. Chilton takes the time to develop these characters and make you care about their relationship through these different timelines. In the present day, it is a classic locked-room (well, locked-airport) mystery as they are caught up in this extreme weather. It is a nightmare come to life before the bodies start to pile up.

There is that tension captured right from the start, which only just ramps up as the book continues to unfold. We all have family members that may not be our particular choice of company and Hazel is stuck with what would have been her in-laws and her ex. Then you start to add in the gory and yet creative deaths and everything hits the proverbial. Chilton is not messing around, this is a book with bloody hands and it is a wild ride. The mystery is well-crafted and addictive, making those pages fly by as you speed through to discover the truth.

I Think We Should Kill Other People is a book that makes the most of its wonderful concept with a tight and twisty story.

This was a great read. I loved the humour and also the amount of twist is brilliant. I had a thought who the killer was but there were lots of moments I changed my mind then only to change it again a few pages later.

I enjoyed the backwards and forwards throughout the book giving you more understanding of why the characters were the way they were.

It really reminded me of "Knives Out", "The Residence" and "Only Murders in The Building".
The way the Alexa type wrist watch was called "CILLA" was a perfect tribute for a blind date show and how it was called a Tamagotchi. Perfection.

This is a perfect cosy murder mystery with a slow burn romance.

This book was an absolute hoot! Dark humour is my thing & I Think We Should Kill Other People was overflowing with it. Having not read either of L. M. Chilton’s previous releases, I went into this naively, intending to read over a few sittings. HA! How wrong I was… This isn’t the kind of book you read in small chunks, it’s a one sitter, unputdownable, entertaining, laugh out loud whodunnit full of twists & turns that grabs your attention & doesn’t let go.
[My only complaint? While incredibly apt (alongside Milka, it’s obviously the only acceptable go to airport duty-free snack) my love of Toblerone has now been slightly tainted🍫…]

L. M. Chilton’s writing style is one I can fully get behind & I’m so excited to read his 2 earlier releases.
I got totally lost in this story. It was engaging, intriguing & had me locked in. The pacing was spot on, not once did I zone out or lose interest & the tone? Hilarious! Despite being a murder mystery, it was light, playful & things never felt too heavy. The small cast of characters kept things easy to follow & although there were a couple of highly insufferable people, they were still so entertaining.

In terms of the singular isolated airport setting, I was a little bit worried about how I’d fare. In the past I’ve found books that have gone down a similar single setting route to be quite tedious & constricted. However, that definitely wasn’t the case here. Had it been an issue, Hazel & Mark’s well placed flashbacks took us away from the airport & would have easily broken up any monotony. They also did a great job of laying out backstories & answering lingering questions.

This is the first book I’ve read that includes the use of AI & as someone who finds the whole concept rather terrifying (watched one too many web based crime shows…) I actually really enjoyed the inclusion of CILLA. It was seamlessly interwoven into the story & worked as if it was its own character. Very clever.

Overall, a brilliantly entertaining, easy to follow read that I would definitely recommend!
