Rachel Cartwright has a terrifying condition. Every 48 hours, her eyes shut - and stay that way for two long days.
When the darkness comes, she's completely vulnerable. She can't work. She can't leave her home. And worst of all...
She's certain she's not alone.
Rachel can't prove it. No one else believes her.
Except me.
As her doctor, it's my job to help her. To protect her. To watch over her when she can't watch for herself.
But the more time I spend with Rachel, the more I realise she's hiding something. A secret buried deep in her past. Something she refuses to talk about.
And now...
I think someone is watching me too.
A heart-stopping psychological thriller that will keep you up all night - from the author of The Woman in Ward 9. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Claire Douglas and Lisa Jewell.

This is definitely one of those 'just another chapter before I sleep' books. I was hooked! The scientific/medical angle gives it a compelling veracity as Beth tries to solve the puzzle of why Rachel's eye freeze shut. It's a pacy thriller, but also speaks about loneliness and the desire for connection - and not being able to see what's in front of your face... both good and bad. An accomplished and gripping read that's rooted in London and will keep you guessing until the end.

This is easily one of the top books I have ever read. The first few pages (about 10 pages) I found it a little hard to follow the conversations that the characters were having but once it started to come together the wild ride began. It was all gas and no brakes. Just when you think you have something figured out you get thrown another curveball. I wish I had more free time to read so I could have read the book in one sitting but honestly having down time between reading session made my mind go a million miles an hour trying to think of how each little detail will come together and playing detective and figure it out. That made the experience that much more enjoyable. Each detail was so meticulously placed in this book. I promise if you pick up this book it will be very hard if not impossible to put it down when you start, so be warned. This is the kind of book that will have me craving a good mystery and it will be hard to follow up.

I was transfixed by The Eyewitness by Naomi Williams. I started the book two days ago and just couldn’t stop reading. This is my first book by Naomi Williams but I’ll be sure to check out her debut. The Eyewitness has such an original concept - an ophthalmologist (a job I knew nothing about) is asked by colleague to take a female client who has requested she be treated by a woman. The case: Rachel is a criminal law, rich and wealthy who’s recently begun suffering from an unusual eye condition where every two days her eyelids clam shut for 48 hours and won’t open. Rachel insists her condition is medical but Beth, the ophthalmologist isn’t too sure especially when she finds herself engrossed in a mystery involving an unsolved crime…The characters are so realistically drawn out. Beth was such a fascinating protagonist. I really found myself rooting for her. The setting too of Rachel’s apartment in St Katherine’s Docks was vividly detailed and this small detail made the story stand out. The ending was shocking. It had my jaw on the floor. Immediately I just wanted to talk to someone about it. I hope the author continues with the story and writes a sequel cause I felt certain weren’t resolved.
