Description
Meet the number one (and smallest) detective, Monsieur Mustard. Dressed to the nines, he is a charming and very famous crime-solving mouse.
Monsieur Mustard curls his whiskers just so, slips on his fancy suit, looks at the handsome front-page picture on the newspaper announcing his arrival in the city of Bath, and chuckles happily to himself. As soon as he leaves the house, he is mobbed by admirers, as usual. But just as he starts to sniff out his first mystery, everything seems to go wrong: his detective bag is stolen, he is knocked off his feet and his monocle shatters. It appears that not everyone is happy to have the world-famous detective in their city . . . With the help of new friends, can Monsieur Mustard crack the case before the villain catches him?

What a lovely book, part novel and part comic book. Great illustrations, love the mustard colouring.
We follow the adventures of the great detective Monsieur Mustard and his new assistant. I enjoyed reading this and I know my grandchildren will also.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc.
Oh how much fun we had with this book, with a wonderful array of characters that we could give funny voices and accents to, we raced through the story and didn't want it to end. It had mystery, comedy and suspense as well as action, so it was perfect for my 7 year old and his active imagination. The change in styles between chapter to graphic novel and then to illustrations really captured his attention throughout the read. The characters were varied and the relationship between Monsieur Mustard and Mobbsy was lovely, seeing Monsieur Mustard come to slowly rely on him was a great touch.
A great book to cover friendship, perseverance, failure and determination, different personalities. Recommended by both Claire and Henry for this one! Looking forward to more adventures from this new detective duo.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for our copy.

And just when you thought there could not possibly be any more mouse-based children’s stories…Monsieur Mustard pops up in the city of Bath in his dapper mustard-coloured suit and his monocle.
Accompanied by a weird creature as an assistant, a guinea pig as an inventor, police pigeons, a snake restaurateur (missing), this famous French mouse detective may remind you, evvvvah so slightly, of a certain famous human Belgian detective.
This is a fabulous book to read to the ickle ones (which I did) with lots of scope for doing silly voices and (slightly farty) sounds and a heap of delightfully detailed illustrations. It is fairly obvious that the author comes from the illustrative angle rather than the literary one - there are a few unpolished spots in the plot line, but what the hey!
The exclamation “Grande saucisse de Paris!” has now gained a firm place in our household lingo.

This is a wonderfully fun and charming children’s book with a unique main character. Monsieur Mustard, the tiny but very confident detective mouse, is full of personality, and his dramatic arrival and unexpected mishaps make the story really entertaining from the start. My daughter and I found it absolutely hilarious and loved the unique style of illustration.

The only funny farti jokes I've come across!
A hilarious mystery adventure for children. Lovable and funny characters that'll make children giggle and laugh; a mystery needing to be unfold with unexpected surprises at every turn; hilarious puns throughout - a master piece of children fiction.
