🫶 Second chance romance
🌶 Spice
💒 Jilted groom
👀 Forced proximity
A technical error on his wedding day saves Mitch from making a huge mistake! His caught red handed wife to be decides to remind him that while she is in the wrong, Mitch never got over his one true love Jackie who disappeared after leaving a measly note years ago.
With Jackie back on his mind and the humiliation burning deep, he decides to go on his paid for honeymoon alone to Cancun - i would too babes dont worry!
What Mitch doesn't know is the hotel he picked out for his honeymoon is owned by Jackie! Tired of running and still keeping plenty of secrets, how will Jackie react to seeing Mitch again after all this time? Especially when the chemistry is still very much alive.
With enough of a storyline to keep it from being predictable, i grew to really like Jackie. At first I was a bit annoyed with her leaving so suddenly but once we learned her story I really felt for her and was back rooting for the pair!
We have the perfect length romance novel with a dual POV and different timelines giving us flashbacks in Second Chance Saloon. I just wish it was written in 1st person 😞 I really struggle to stay engaged with 3rd person reading im sorry!
I did enjoy the storyline overall though especially the opening chapters at the wedding! I was hooked 🙈
Second Chance Saloon by Maggie Eckersley
Publication Date: 10 September 2026
Second Chance Saloon is a charming and heartfelt second-chance romance that combines emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and plenty of feel-good moments. Maggie Eckersley delivers a story about lost love, missed opportunities, and the courage it takes to open your heart again.
After being left at the altar, Mitch's plans for a romantic honeymoon take an unexpected turn when he decides to travel to Cancún alone. What he doesn't expect is to come face-to-face with Jackie, the woman who once held his heart and the first love he never truly forgot. Their reunion is filled with tension, unresolved feelings, and an undeniable spark that never quite faded.
Mitch is a likeable and sympathetic hero whose heartbreak feels genuine, while Jackie is a strong, independent heroine carrying secrets and emotional scars of her own. The dual POV works particularly well, allowing readers to understand both sides of their complicated history and making their journey back to one another even more engaging.
The forced proximity trope creates plenty of opportunities for romantic tension, while the tropical setting adds an extra layer of escapism to the story. The chemistry between the characters is strong throughout, with a good balance of emotional moments, humour, and spice.
At its heart, this is a story about forgiveness, healing old wounds, and discovering that sometimes the right person comes back into your life when you least expect it. Fans of second-chance romances, cowboy charm, and emotional love stories will find plenty to enjoy here.
A warm, romantic, and satisfying read that proves some loves are worth a second chance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Second Chance Saloon by Maggie Eckersley was a heartwarming and engaging read that perfectly captured the charm of small-town romance and the power of second chances. The characters were relatable and well-developed, and I found myself invested in their journey from beginning to end.
The emotional depth was balanced beautifully with lighter moments, creating a story that was both touching and enjoyable. The chemistry between the main characters felt genuine, and I loved watching their relationship unfold as they navigated past hurts and new beginnings.
Maggie Eckersley has created a cosy, feel-good romance filled with warmth, community spirit, and hope. If you enjoy stories about love finding its way back when you least expect it, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.

cowboy romances are having their day. and when done right like this one it makes you understand why.
this one was so a heartwarming and emotionally layered read and they are definitely ones a swing more towards. gotta love books that makes me think and feel far too much about the characters, lol.
Mitch is going on his honeymoon. fab right? well, not when hes not with his bride! hes ok. it was always wrong. we know it. he will too.
buuuuut this is going to be a trip away that changes everything and for very different reasons. almost like it was always meant to be. because who he runs into on this holiday is Jackie. oh Jackie. the one woman he never got over.
over the course of the book we learn about what they had in the past woven brilliantly around the present.
it makes you fall in love with them so much more knowing where they stemmed from and what they had. it never takes the focus off the now though either which i thought was really well written. because its their now which is important. because there is a reason life moves on, changes, people get older and maybe a little wiser.
we learn of Jackie. and of course we then learn of why it ended before. why she left. why she had to leave.
seeing them together was heartbreaking. because as soon as we meet them, or should we say they meet each other again i was already gone for them. i already wanted, no needed them to be ok. and i knew we had a whole book ahead of us for Maggie to play with my heartstrings to come. ouch indeed but in the best way possible and only because i loved these two so much.
the way we work through their past was also so well balanced. because things move on, life does. and so they should totally feel what they feel then and now. but each of their time together is still important. still earned. and so very real still.
this was a gorgeous book. its the type of romance that gets me every time. the type that makes you feel lucky to have the joy of books in your life.
This was an enjoyable cowboy romance 🤠💛
I really liked the dual POV and how the past and present timelines were woven together—it helped build the history and connection between Jackie and Mitch, making their second-chance romance feel believable.
I'll admit I found myself a little frustrated with how long the reason for Jackie leaving was kept a secret, and at times I was more focused on finding out why than fully enjoying their reunion. But once everything was revealed, I understood her actions a little more and quickly moved on to rooting for them.
With plenty of heart and chemistry, this was a solid second-chance romance and an easy book to get through 🤎✨

A stunning and heartbreaking second chance romance with a cowboy we’d all like to ride! Mitch and Jackie stole my heart.
Second Chance Saloon is a beautifully written, emotional second-chance romance that drew me in from the very first chapter.
I loved how the story alternated between the past and the present, gradually revealing Mitch and Jackie's shared history. Learning the heartbreaking reason Jackie left all those years ago added so much depth and emotion to their journey, and I found myself completely invested in seeing if they could overcome the past and find their way back to one another.
Mitch and Jackie's chemistry is undeniable, and their second chance feels authentic as they confront old wounds, misunderstandings, and the lingering feelings they never truly left behind. Their journey is full of emotion, hope, and healing, making their happily-ever-after incredibly satisfying.
Overall, this was a heartfelt, engaging romance with likeable characters, emotional depth, and a rewarding conclusion. I would happily recommend it to readers who enjoy second-chance romances with dual timelines and plenty of heart.
second chance saloon you get 4✨ from me.
I love how this is mainly from the mmc’s point of view and it starts off from his prospective, at the start you get bits of the fmcs pov but it then develops more throughout the story which fits perfectly with the timeline, the emotions and the storyline progression. I also love the little flash backs between past and present day it helps you get a better understanding of who these characters were when they younger and how they grow into the people they are in the present.
I think second chance romances may be becoming my thing, this was written so beautifully and I absolutely fell in love with the characters so easily.
I laughed, I cried, I giggled!!! this book was so good! honestly surprised at how much I loved this!!! it was easy to read, easy to follow and everything about the main and side characters was so lovable! I had the best time reading this from start to end.
Second Chance Saloon was such a treat to read! Cowboy romance is my all-time favourite trope, and this absolutely did not disappoint. I loved the dual POV and the way the timelines were woven together—it really helped to build a deeper understanding of both Mitch and Jackie and how their past shaped their present. Their chemistry felt authentic, and I found myself rooting for them the whole way through. It’s a wonderful second chance romance that had me completely hooked from start to finish. I genuinely couldn’t put it down and would happily recommend it to any romance lover! Thank you for the opportunity to read Second Chance Saloon as an advanced reader copy.
If you're a fan of authors like Elsie Silver and Sloane Fletcher then you are going to love Second Chance Saloon.
I have definitely been in my cowboy era this year and this book certainly feeds my obsession.
Filled with tropes like second chances, and forced proximity, this is a romance that gives just enough spice and a whole lot of swoon worthy romance. Think forehead kisses and heartfelt promises.
With a dual POV and flashbacks that give the characters such depth, I was feeling all of the emotions and longing for that happily ever after. It all just felt right.
Seeing a teenage love compared to a fully grown love. It was truly warming to see the FMC and MMC come full circle.
Maggie Eckersley knows how to write romance!

Okay. Wow wow wow!! I absolutely loved this book!! I love a second chance romance and this one hit the spot! It was emotional, cute, and funny. Luckily it patched my heart back up by the end.
I’m a sucker for a flashback and this book had plenty. I loved the back and forth from the past to the present, getting to see how different Mitch and Jackie were, how they grew and changed.
And can we talk about the cover art? I’m obsessed!! Cannot wait to grab a physical copy upon release!
If you love forehead kisses and pinky promises, Second Chance Saloon is for you!
Second Chance Saloon is the story of a girl and a boy whose paths crossed in a meeting that felt destined. After growing apart, fate pulls them back to one another; unable to deny their feelings they learn that love isn’t easy and it’s not just luck - it’s a choice that has to be chosen every single day.
From the beginning, Mitch and Jackie’s connection was undeniable. The story is dual POV and flows back and forth between the beginning of Mitch and Jackie’s story and the present day. This is a classic love story that will deeply resonate with readers who enjoy books with yearning, swoony second-chance romance. There’s something incredibly special, almost sacred, about finding your way back into the arms - and heart - of the one your soul loves. Second Chance Saloon made me giggle and squeal and that also gripped my heart with emotion leaving me with the strong reminder to never let fear truly dictate what my life looks like.
Thank you to Maggie Eckersley, AvonUK, and NetGalley for early access to read and share my honest review.
Second Chance Saloon by Maggie Eckersley
Second Chance Saloon was such a fun and heartwarming romance that had me rooting for the characters from the very beginning. I picked it up because I love a good second chance love story, and the combination of a canceled honeymoon, forced proximity, and reunited first loves sounded impossible to resist. Mitch and Jackie had undeniable chemistry, and I enjoyed watching them work through old feelings while discovering that their connection had never truly disappeared.
The romance was sweet, emotional, and filled with plenty of witty banter, making it easy to become invested in their journey. I especially liked the dual perspectives because they gave a deeper understanding of both characters and the reasons behind their past decisions. While I would have loved a little more time exploring Jackie’s secret before everything came together, the heartfelt moments, beautiful vacation setting, and satisfying emotional payoff made this a thoroughly enjoyable read. I would recommend this book to readers who love second chance romances, forced proximity, memorable chemistry, and emotional love stories with a touch of spice.
Rating: 4 stars.
Second Chance Saloon was such a fun, spicy second-chance romance! I loved the unexpected reunion between Mitch and Jackie and all the tension that came with being thrown back together after ten years. The Cancún setting was a fun change of pace, and the chemistry between these two was undeniable. A sweet, steamy, and entertaining read with plenty of emotional moments and forced-proximity goodness!

Love a story with dual POV, the insight we get as readers is just so good. A beautiful second chance romance that absolutely hits the mark. An easy, quick, romantic read. Loved the characters and their love for each other - so strong and powerful.
Loved it!
This was a sweet second-chance romance with a lot of heart. I enjoyed watching Mitch reunite with his first love after unexpectedly finding her managing the resort where he ends up following a canceled wedding. Their chemistry felt genuine, and I was rooting for them from the start.

The characters i found refreshing Jackie is very independent a sassy bad ass nothing gets past her .Mitch my gosh i really wanted to hug him and my gosh handsome if i say so myself and is a character that dose not know how amazing he is . i thought the chemistry was so sweet and beautiful and the spice yes do not worry the spice was well written but i felt for me it was more about the emotions between the two of them .
i loved that the book had dual PVO i always think that helps understanding the characters better
i also loved how the book takes you to the past to present helped me make more of connection with the characters .
The small town vibe was perfect and cosy just what i needed .

3.5
I was fully drawn in and invested in Jackie & Mitch’s story from the very first chapter. From their first meeting, to their happy ending and everything in between was just great to read! I do think it took quite a while to get to the reason why she left initially, but I think that worked well with the rest of the storyline
Second chance romance
Forced proximity
The story starts of at mitches wedding which ends in disaster, he caught his wife to be cheating, she told mitch even though she was wrong he never got over his first love Jackie who disappeared years ago after leaving him a note.
Mitch felt humiliated and stupid as he looks back on his time with Jackie. He then decides to use his honeymoon and go to cancun alone. (why not).
But the hotel he picked is run by the one and only Jackie. This is when you see the chemistry and how Jackie reacts to him.
I did predict alot of the story but it still had me interested and wanting to read more.
This was such a fun cute read.
Mitch Craigton never imagined that his wedding day would destroy everything he had spent years building. Certain that his future was finally falling into place, one devastating betrayal forces him to question every choice he has made and confront memories he never truly left behind. Miles away from that heartbreak is Jackie van Moetlier, the woman who shaped his younger years and quietly held a place in his heart long after life pulled them in different directions. When fate gives them another chance to cross paths, both must decide whether the dreams they once shared still have a place in their lives or if some love stories are meant to remain unfinished. Filled with heartfelt moments, charming settings, and plenty of emotion, this novel blends romance, healing, and the hope that sometimes the road back home leads to the future you were always meant to have.
I really enjoyed this book because it delivers an emotional second chance romance without relying only on the love story. Mitch and Jackie share a connection that feels genuine from the very beginning, making it easy to understand why neither of them truly moved on. I also appreciated how the story explores forgiveness, family, and the importance of healing before opening your heart again. My only criticism is that the middle section occasionally feels slower than necessary, and a few conflicts are resolved a little too easily. Even so, I finished the book with a smile and genuinely cared about the characters. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy emotional romances, cowboy stories, second chance relationships, and characters who must rebuild trust before finding happiness.
I received an advance review copy through NetGalley, and this review reflects my honest opinion.

Forehead kisses and pinky promises 💜
Thank you for the chance to review this book. I loved Back in the Saddle and couldn't wait to read this one!
Mitch and Jackie were meant to be but life got in the way. Second Chance Saloon tells their whole story - then and now - and shows you how true love finds a way. I loved this book from start to finish! Especially the start, the jilted fiance was very well written and hilarious (side note: I really hope Lionel gets a book!). It was great to have our wee cameos from Hunter and Caroline too.
I loved how the country girl x city boy was reversed and even at college how Mitch was the shy inexperienced one. He also falls harder and is a man obsessed! My favourite part about this book is how you have the perfect soundtrack woven throughout the story! Maggie adds a song for every emotional rollercoaster that fits it perfectly! Also love that she said the story came to her when listening to the country song 'Drunk on a plane'. Perfect for fans of Abby Jimenez, Jessica Joyce and Sloane Fletcher for those cowboy romance feels entertained with deeper moments that pull on the heart strings 🩷

I liked the book. It was just nice and ok. I wanted a little more of problem and conflict. I felt like it was just ok. The MMC gets dumped on his wedding day but a technical fluke that exposes his fiance and another man. The ex fiance tells him that he never opened up and that he never got over his ex which is the FMC. But nothing was given to make me understand how she arrived to that conclusion and neither did him in trying to understand the ex fiance. The FMC is a heiress and she ends up working in the hotel where the MMC is taking his solo honeymoon at. They still have undeniable chemistry. They work out the misunderstandings and why she left him all those years ago in college. I wanted more from the book and the characters, still a good read.
I want to thank Netgalley, Avon, and Maggie Eckersley for an arc of Second Chance Saloon!
This swoon-worthy romance should be on the top of your list!
After a scandal on his wedding day, which leaves Mitch jilted at the altar, he flies solo to his non-refundable honeymoon trip, where he runs into the manager of the hotel he’s staying at and a very familiar face: Jackie. Who also happens to be his college sweetheart. Packed with sizzling chemistry and a delicate dance around the truth of the past, Mitch and Jackie have to decide if facing their future together is worth the risk (or worth the second chance 😉).

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc.
This book is a heartwarming and entertaining second-chance romance filled with humor, chemistry, and emotional depth. From the very first chapter, I was invested in Mitch's story as he tries to recover from being left at the altar, only to unexpectedly come face-to-face with his first love during what was supposed to be a solo honeymoon.
The reunion between Mitch and Jackie is packed with tension, witty banter, and undeniable attraction. Jackie is a strong and memorable heroine, and her guarded nature makes it easy to understand why she struggles to open her heart again. Watching these two reconnect while confronting the pain and unanswered questions from their past was both touching and satisfying.
The tropical setting adds charm to the story, and the emotional stakes keep the romance engaging throughout. While a few plot developments were somewhat predictable, the lovable characters and heartfelt moments more than made up for it.
Overall, Second Chance Saloon is a sweet, emotional romance about forgiveness, healing, and finding the courage to take another chance on love. Fans of second-chance romances will find a lot to enjoy in this uplifting 4-star read.
This book gave me everything!
I loved the storyline and the characters!
The cover is stunning 😍
Can't wait to read more by this author!
Thanks Netgalley for letting me read this book for an honest review
Second Chance Saloon is a heartwarming cowboy second chance romance with emotional depth while what is supposed to be a honeymoon.
Mitch wedding doesn't go as planned and he sees himself boarding a plane to Cancun alone for his honeymoon. Jackie is a hotel manager that needs to deal with a drunk guest. Jackie did not expect that the drunk guest was her college boyfriend Mitch.
The chemistry between Mitch and Jackie is undeniable even if she refuses to see it. I loved how Mitch does everything to get to know Jackie for a second time, as she continues to say she is not the same person. The story is told in two time lines, when they met and now in Cancun. In the present timeline, you can see how Jackie changed Mitch. I loved reading how Jackie handled shy Portland Mitch in the past and how Mitch handles Jackie presently. The emotional connection between both is so depth, and everyone around can sees it
Thank you Avon, Maggie Eckersley and Netgalley for the advance copy.
