Description
Savanna Davis thought that night in August six years ago—and Dalton Hayes—were nothing more than memories that haunted her dreams. He was her childhood crush, her brother’s best friend, and the one man who walked away without warning, leaving her to raise their secret alone.
Now, years later, Savanna’s blast from her painful past is back in town visiting from the military—moody, guarded, and dare she say looking incredibly delicious? Tempted by the one guy she never stopped thinking about, Savanna must make a choice: keep her distance and her secret away from him? Or reveal the truth while reaping the benefits? Because now that she’s older, she knows better than to get attached—it’s all just temporary, anyway.
Dalton Hayes has never stopped thinking about Savanna Davis—or that one passion-filled night they spent together on the beach the night before he left for the military. Now, six years later, he’s reluctantly back home in his hometown—the one place he’s avoided like the plague.
But when Dalton comes face-to-face with the smoking hot blonde he’s tried so desperately to steer clear of—it’s obvious the feelings he’s tried to suppress come roaring back. When Dalton realizes Savanna is a single mom—to a spunky, familiar, blue-eyed little girl—and isn’t happily settled like he originally believed, the narrative of the last few years gets completely flipped upside down.
Now with a second chance, what Dalton wants with Savanna is permanent.
The only thing he has to do is convince her he’ll stay.

I had the absolute pleasure of ARC reading Endless August by Shelby Rae, and from the very first page, I was completely captivated. What started as an intriguing prologue quickly unfolded into something deeply emotional, beautifully written, and impossible to put down.
Following Savanna and Dalton’s journey felt incredibly real, tender, intense, and at times heartbreakingly raw. This story didn’t just entertain me, it pulled me in completely. I laughed, I cried, and found myself completely swept up in those soft, swoon-worthy moments. It even stirred up familiar emotions from my own past, making the experience feel that much more personal and impactful.
The character development was exceptional. Both Savanna and Dalton were layered, authentic, and beautifully flawed, making their growth feel genuine and rewarding. And the spice? Easily one of my favorite elements. It was written with intention and balance, adding to the emotional depth rather than overshadowing it. What truly stood out was how this book embraces real struggles and emotions with honesty and heart. There’s a sincerity woven throughout that lingers long after the final page.
I absolutely loved Endless August and cannot recommend it enough. It’s the kind of story that stays with you—I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. I’m already wanting more and counting down the days until book two.
A huge congratulations to Shelby Rae on such a stunning and unforgettable debut.

A great debut from Shelby Rae. Endless August is an emotional read that tugs at the heartstrings. Savanna and Dalton were clearly meant for each other- but after one night together and Dalton leaving for the military, there have been six years of missed opportunities, secrets and longing. The chemistry between them- and their spunky daughter Drew- instantly jumps off the pages. The author does a really great job at making the characters actions believable and many scenes had me laughing. There are quite a few obstacles on the way to HEA and becoming a family, but there is never a doubt that these two have always been "the one". The island they call home also boasts a fun supporting cast of characters, destined to be featured in a future books in the series, I loved this crew! It was a wonderful, quick-paced read.

This book was amazing and I wish that I could re read it again for the first time!!! It is one that I will read again and again during the years and that is something that doesn't usually happen with me. I loved the characters and I loved everything about it. Shelby Rae is a unique and powerful author and she just became one of my must read authors!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I wasnt sure what to expect with this book as I had never read this author before but this might be my favorite 2nd chance romance I've ever read! A hot marine/brothers best friend/second chance trope, sold. It was so authentically written. It was so natural and felt so real. The emotion, the yearning, the love. (Teared up several times, but happy tears.) The banter between the MMC and his friends. Little Drew was a pistol, loved that sweeties character. Just a great read! This author is going on my forever list!
