A topnotch computer hacker known to some as Nicole Jones is now living a quiet life on an island in Quebec, Canada as Susan McQueen. She has been on the run from the FBI and others for a number of years due to a cyber crime she committed several years ago. One day while logging on, she notices a shadow---someone has hacked into her computer and is holding it for ransom and has threatened some close friends of hers unless she pays one million dollars in bitcoins . Someone, somewhere knows who she is, can find out where she is and knows what she did all those years ago. Leaving no option but to go on the run, she leaves the island and goes to Old Quebec City. Susan is constantly looking over her shoulder and doesn't know who to trust. She enlists some help from a fellow hacker known to her as Tracker who helped her years ago with the crime, but they have never met in person. She starts getting messages indicating it's Tracker who can't be trusted, but can he?
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone liking a well written, suspenseful book.

I want to tell you now, this book deserves 10 stars!

This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I was blown away by the book. Susan McQueen, known previously as Nicole Jones, is a computer hacker. She has been living on the run for sixteen years in a quiet place in Quebec, Canada. The internet is her downfall, her fingers itch to feel the keys beneath her fingers and she craves it, needs it and she is soon back in the chat rooms, until a shadow finds her. Her quiet life is over, she is running again, this time back to the states, back to looking over her shoulder, back to a world revolving around firewalls, source codes and bitcoins. She doesn't know who is looking for her, maybe the FBI or the man she stole a lot of money from. Can she escape her past or is it to late? Will she have to keep running forever or will she finally collapse under the pressure?

While I am a huge fan of cozy mysteries, the description of this book was intriguing and I wanted to see what it was all about. I am thrilled I gave this book a go, it was so intense and fast paced that I felt I was running with her, looking over my shoulder to see if "they" were following me. Ms. Olson is a wonderful storyteller and her attention to every little detail was shown in her story.
I will be keeping my eye on this author and reading any others in this series.

This book is a perfect for anyone who loves a good suspense/thriller themed book.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.

This is an intense thriller revolving around the world of hacking. Tina Adler is a wanted woman hacker, in hiding and with many aliases. She is currently Susan, an artist, living on Ile aux Coudres in Canada. Having lived without the internet for 15 years, she has been tempted back. Unfortunately, her computer is taken over by a shadow who threatens two friends unless she can deliver a million bitcoins to an account..

Enlisting the help of Tracker, a hacker she trusts but does not know, to obtain the bitcoins. She knows that she is no longer safe, she packs and leaves. She finds herself on the run with shadowy parties after her. Her journey takes her from Canada to being smuggled into the US. She is grabbed by the FBI and a dangerous criminal. Wondering what is going on and whether she is being betrayed,, Tina tries to remain free.

An exciting thriller that is well crafted. Tina is a flawed character that you believe in. It is not easy to remain hidden when there are so many threats. A great read with unexpected twists. Thanks to Severn House for an ARC via netgalley.
