We follow a little dogs journey as she is with her owner and she sees a posters that the war needs her, she’s becomes brave and the dog goes to war training. There the dig forms a strong bond with its handler and helps in the trenches of the war.

What a stunning book, my goodness it hits you hard with the story being shared. It’s a wordless picture book, but you can follow the story perfectly, you feel the connection instantly and you see the sad and scary news unfolding throughout. It’s so hard hitting and so beautifully done.

I loved looking through the book, following this heartfelt story. It’s so full of emotion, of love and dedication. It’s shows the reader the war realities and what the dogs and the soldiers are doing within it. It’s beautiful, it’s scary, it’s sad and it’s heartwarming all at the same time.

I also loved that the author included so much extra information at the end to extend the education on what the stories purpose was. Sharing who some of the handlers were and what other animals played a big part within the war. It’s incredibly fascinating getting to learn so much extra information.

I had such an amazing time with this book it had so much to offer and it was stunningly created. If you are doing a World War One unit I think this would be the most perfect addition to that, it will extend knowledge of the topic and give children a chance to see an area not normally talked about or explored.
