This book has that chilling, eerie atmosphere. We’ve got dark gothic world-building, demons, sinister bargains, secrets, a cute romance, and somehow, against all odds, a found family that made me emotional.

The premise alone drew me in. Demons can grant you practically anything you want, but in return they take years from your lifespan to extend their own. The bargain can’t be undone unless you kill the demon involved, which is already horrifying enough. But then the story starts introducing loopholes and technicalities, which made the plot even more gripping.

Eda is exactly the kind of protagonist I love. She’s willing to sacrifice everything for the people she cares about, even if it means handing over years of her own life to do it. Watching her grow from someone naive and gullible into someone braver, stronger, and far more fearless to challenge the horrors around her was one of my favorite parts of the book. And I love the chaotic yet wholesome sibling dynamics between Eda and her brothers.

And look, I don’t think it’s surprising to anyone at this point that I have a thing for cheeky, snarky, morally questionable rage baiter love interests. The idea of a demon who genuinely sees beauty in humanity and music is actually a little suspiciously tailored to my interests if you ask me. And every single time Kit called Eda darling, I SWEAR I dissolved into a puddle.

The romance itself was cute. I really liked their chemistry and dynamic, but I didn’t fully love it because the build-up moved a little too quickly for my slow-burn-loving soul. I wanted just a little more yearning and tension to marinate in the feelings before diving into the romance.

And finally, we got to the ending. I genuinely have no idea if this is a standalone or not, but if it is, I have concerns. Because that was a cliffhanger and I refuse to accept this level of emotional abandonment.

I love a dark, gothic style romance and this met that genre perfectly. The world building was excellent and I loved the premise involving binding to demons.

The characters were really well developed and likeable. I really enjoyed the mysterious, dark atmosphere and couldn’t wait to pick this book back up again!

I look forward to hearing more from this author!

Brilliant YA fantasy reminiscent of Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter Chronicles. Plot was compelling, main character was interesting, romance was GREAT. I would absolutely sell my soul to that demon xx

Ending was slightly rushed, but I was having too much fun to care.

This was SO delicious. Eda is frustratingly impulsive and messes up a lot, but she loves fiercely and it was hard not to like her. Kit is a dark, demonic delight. Together they are an engaging, fun and addictive couple that had me devouring this book in a day.

The twists and turns, the betrayal, the relationship development and the sprinkling of spice had me eating this book up.

I will be ignoring the last paragraph because wth, don’t risk my HEA, but otherwise this book was everything I enjoy in a YA fantasy.

I was hooked right from the start by this book - the premise, the atmosphere, the characters, all so intriguing!
The premise, where Eda had to make a deal with a demon to save her brothers, had me gripped! The build up to this was spot on, I could really sense the urgency and desperation in Eda’s decisions, especially with the weight of her father’s deal hanging over the family. I thought the pacing was good too, it kept the suspense while not feeling like it dragged. You could really understand the family dynamics from the beginning, and how much they all cared for each other, even if they sometimes made misguided decisions (looking at you, Eda). The relationship between Eda and her brothers felt like a proper sibling relationship, and you could get a sense of their history from their interactions.
The setting was perfect for a gothic fantasy, in a dark and moody town filled with secrets and plotting. I really enjoyed the idea of the deals with demons being illegal and dangerous, something you had to sneak around to manage.
There were so many great characters in this book! I obviously have to start with Kit. Wow, I clearly have a type - I fell for this man hook, line and sinker. He was so funny and mischievous, but also dark and morally grey! Perfection, what’s not to love? I adored the banter and flirting between him and Eda, and how their relationship developed over the course of the story. They really helped each other to grow, which was so nice to read.
There were so many other great side characters as well, from Trippe, to Robin, even Mr Night.
This book was fantastic, I loved every minute that I was reading it.

Reap & sow follows eda and her brothers who are in debt to a demon because of an inherited pact deal. By day they run an antiques store and by night they find desperate people to bargain with years of their life to fulfill the pact until they are caught by the blades and her brothers are locked away and eda manages to run. Desperate eda goes searching in the worst parts of black bridge for help and is directed to kit'rath who agrees to help. There's just one small problem! He's also a demon. The dark gothic world building in this book is so immersive and sets the perfect scene. The characters are written with depth and you truly feel like you know them and their feelings. The twists and turns were insane and the ending was such an emotional rollercoaster. I wanted to cry, then scream, then cry, then rock backwards and forwards staring at a wall! The side characters were also fantastic and I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. Tripp the imp was a highlight along with dear robin. When I signed up for this read I had high expectations and this book didn't disappoint and going off the ending this is book one of a series that I will definitely be following!

An easy 5 stars!! This book had me in a chokehold and I LOVED every second of it!
Kit'rath is the King of yearning!

I adored every connection in this story! From Eda's bond with her brothers, Kit and Robin's friendship, Tripp and Eda's reluctant alliance and most of all Eda and Kit's relationship!
The banter and chemistry between them from the second they meet was so natural and was flawlessly written. They way they uncovered each other's vulnerabilities and encouraged each other was beautiful. They both found something worth living and fighting for!

Kit is perfection and did I fall head over heels in love with him instantly? Yes, yes I did and I regret nothing! His mouth is hilarious and some of the things he said had me cackling with laughter!
Eda I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with, overall though I did adore her! Her tenacity and drive to do what needed to be done made her shine as a character. Even when others doubted her, she powered through and got shit done!
Tripp was brilliant, definitely one of my highlights of the book! His shenanigans had me chuckling, especially the hug scene!
And Robin.....Robin stole the entire show for me, I loved her and the part she played in this story! 🖤

The themes of religious corruption made for a compelling and suspenseful plot. Watching the characters work together to uncover what was happening around them and stopping horrific plans had me on the edge of my seat!
The world building was solid, I do wish we'd been able to see more of Infernus as the glimpses left me intrigued and wanting to see more! The writing was descriptive and vividly detailed making it very easy to picture!

The ending wrapped everything up beautifully so that extra paragraph was just pure evil! Book 2 can't come quick enough!
Officially obsessed and I can't wait to see what comes next from this author, I will happily read anything else Chartlotte B. Plumb writes!

This book is for the demon-loving girlies who love a sassy, humourous man who just so happens to be a VERY hot demon, refers to our FMC as darling AND is SO cat-coded. Think Antal from Voidwalker x Cardan from The Cruel Prince… I AM IN LOVE🫠Kit’rath is officially on my fictional boyfriend radar because this man has a WAY with words. Like seriously, he had me giggling throughout this entire book and I am not even mad about it. The banter? The sass? The flirting? TOP TIER. And if that wasn’t enough, the plot was fast-paced, gripping and genuinely unique. Eda has her flaws and openly acknowledges them, which I absolutely loved about her. She’s fiery but also soft, and let me tell you… she met her MATCH with Kit. Robin is also such a gem and I genuinely SOBBED towards the end for her😭And Tripp, the very irritating yet lovable little imp, was such an amazing addition to the story. I loved the banter between him and Eda so much.

I genuinely couldn’t put this book down. Kit is one HELL of a man and Eda is just so easy to root for. BUT THAT ENDING??? I was STANDING UP. I went into this thinking it was a standalone and now I genuinely cannot tell if that was an open ending or a bloody CLIFFHANGER?!?! Charlotte. I need answers. RN😭

Wow! I could not turn the pages fast enough. From the very first page, this book had me completely hooked. This was one of my most anticipated new releases, and it somehow managed to exceed all of my expectations!
I absolutely adored Eda, our FMC, and thought her character growth was amazing. I loved reading about such a strong female character, especially as it was such a refreshing change from the more innocent heroines I usually read. There were moments when she had me screaming at her to STOP what she was doing, only for her to have me laughing out loud a few pages later. 😂
She was the perfect match for our MMC, a demon nicknamed Kit! Ahhh, Kit! 😍 He’s sweet and sensitive, but also so sassy with just the right amount of cocky attitude that you can’t help but swoon over him. He had me laughing out loud just as much as Eda did, and I absolutely loved their dynamic.
I also HAVE to give a special mention to Tripp, who had me smiling throughout! 🥹
Charlotte B. Plumb has done such an incredible job of creating a world that completely pulled me in. I genuinely felt like I was right there amongst all the chaos as I was reading. Not only are the characters completely loveable, but the plot had me hooked from beginning to end.
This book had me on the edge of my seat, desperately rooting for a happy ending for all of the characters involved. One minute I was close to tears, the next I was swooning over our MMC, and then I was laughing out loud. This book really put me through it! 😂

I loved everything about this book, there was something about it and I already want to reread it.
The characters were likeable, we follow Eda and her 2 brothers who inherited their father’s pact with the demon known as ‘Mr Night’ and are only 10 years worth of pacts left to be free. One night her brothers are captured and the mirror that holds Mr Night is taken, and it’s up to Eda to save her brothers and get Mr Night back so they can complete their pact before the harvest season or they die.
The plot was fast paced and fun, the demons were cool and the religious cult like dynamic of the villain who’s aiming to trick the public into pledging their lives to a pact with Mr Night.
I loved the banter between Eda and Kit, their flirting had me giggling and kicking my feet and the quick witted humorous marks had me laughing.
The gothic, dark vibes makes it a perfect autumn read.

First of all, i love this cover?! 😍 The design and colours are absolutely beautiful and definitely caught my attention.

I absolutely sped through this story and loved every minute of it. Demons, imps, cats and magic… what more could you want?! 😂
The gothic setting was such a vibe, and the beautifully developed writing really transported me into the world. The atmosphere and setting actually reminded me a little of The Shepherd King duology, which I loved.

I really enjoyed the morally grey main characters and watching them grow and develop throughout the story. Their witty banter was spot on, and the MMC’s dramatic personality made for some entertaining moments.
Tripp was one of my favourite little sidekicks! He had me smiling and laughing throughout the story and I wish I could have him as my own sidekick. The Hag was also such a great addition, bringing a lovely sense of nurturing and care to the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It had a fantastic gothic atmosphere, memorable characters, plenty of magic and just the right amount of humour. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more books from this author! 🖤📚

One of the BEST reads this year - a true gothic romantasy. This was not morally grey but pitch-black and I'm all here for it! Eda Shaw must make a deal with the devil, the demon Kit'rath, to save her brothers in exchange for fifty years of her life. But this deal sets both Eda and Kit on a dangerous path, fighting against fiends and corrupt holy men alike. They must confront their conflicted past and their own feelings to survive this dangerous game of deals and desires.

The book starts with one of the best first chapters I've read in a while. It puts you right in the action and sets-up the conflict. Eda is a flawed and conflicted FMC and I greatly appreciate that all of the characters are mulidimensional and not simply black-and-white. Everyone got their vices and desires, foolish hopes and desperate fears. It made the entire plot so much more interesting! The demons in this book are actually bad and not to be trifled with!

Kit was the perfect counterpart to Eda. Their snarky banter and romantic tension carried the story for me. I marked so many clever passages throughout the book that had me lauging out loud! And the YEARNING is SO GOOD. He's so down bad for her and it actually makes sense why and it's not just tropey insta-love. The spice was tame but the sexual tension leading up to it was actually much more enjoyable to read.

The writing was superb and the prose was actually quite beautiful. The author expressed really well the inner conflicts of the characters by showing not telling. The pacing was good, but I would say it dragged a bit in the middle. The ending had me GASPING FOR AIR! I didn't see some of the plot twists coming, I'll admit.

Tripp really stole the show every scene he was in! We love a snarky little goblin companion. I would characterize him as a satirical, murderous Dobby that is endlessly devoted to his master.

"It wouldn't be so bad, to bind yourself to something out of love instead of fear."

Eda and Kit had some strong character development towards the end, and I loved seeing them overcome their fear and prejudices together and finally let some love into their lives despite the dire circumstances. Both were just hurting so much and together they can hopefully heal. It's been a while since I connected with the protagonists of a book so deeply, because they were flawed, complicated, and multidimensional. Most FMC/MMCs lately have been really bland and tropey. And the villain was truly evil and his motives believable!

Addendum: The last paragraph has me confused, though, I admit. Otherwise, a perfect conclusion.

Wow!! 5 stars for Reap & Sow by Charlotte B Plumb - a gothic romantasy about a young woman who makes a pact with a demon to save her family.

Although the FMC makes a few mistakes early on that had me shouting at my kindle, I was still rooting for her and her struggles against the corrupt religion in her city, and the lengths she has to go through to save her family by sacrificing so much.

The romance springs up quickly and unexpectedly and I found myself loving the MMC regardless of his questionable behaviour upon first being introduced to him.

I really liked how easy this was to read and I found myself reaching for my kindle more than my physical (unheard of for me) because I was so invested in this story.

The story was wrapped up in a satisfying way but then that last paragraph had me stressed and I’m excited to see what the author has in store for the next instalment.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - and I’ve preordered the Waterstones exclusive as my trophy copy because wow it’s so stunning!!

I adored this story and the world it was set in! I loved the world created in this book and I had no problem imagining exactly how it looked, definitely gave dark gothic vibes and I loved it!

Eda, our FMC, is such a great character, made some terrible choices but her heart was in the right place. Her growth throughout the book almost felt like a coming of age story. Her world started small, barely existing outside her family’s antique shop with a very bleak view on humanity, thrust into a position where she has to be brave beyond belief and realises there’s beauty in humanity and it’s worth saving!

I loved how the MMC, Kit’rath who’s an incredibly powerful demon, wasn’t just one dimensional all powerful being, he had vulnerabilities and fears too. Also he’s super cheeky and sassy, what’s not to love!

Over all I thought this was an incredible YA read about personal growth, love and family with great emotional depth!

A thrilling romantasy full of surprises and plot twists !

The story of demons making pacts is a classic, but this book has its own smart take on the trope. I loved the mechanism of the Gateway and the gothic « atmosphere.
The side characters all have their own past and personality : nobody is useless, everything is cleverly linked.
Eda is a relatable brave female main character : she is a bit naive and has her own insecurities. Perfectly imperfect.
Kit was such a good surprise : his character gets better and better until the end of the book, which is so satisfying by the way !
I loved Tripp the little imp ! It such a good version of a familiar.

I look forward to reading the sequel ! I am so ready for Kit and Eda’s adventure together.

I’m so glad this story lived up to its beautiful cover!

We follow Eda, who, along with her brothers, helps organise pacts between desperate people and a demon their family is indebted to. But when a deal goes wrong, Eda will do anything to help her brothers, even if it means sacrificing her own future by seeking the help of Kit’rath, another demon who is very different from the one she grew up working for.

The pair worked wonderfully together, and the tension between them was so good that every fleeting moment felt incredibly satisfying. Their relationship didn’t take over the quest; it was more of a sweet accompaniment, partly because Kit is a yearner, and yearn he did!

If you love fast-paced, action-packed missions with a side of slow burn, forced proximity, and forbidden romance, then you’ll love this one. There was so much going on, and I absolutely ate it up. I read this book any chance I could get.

I really hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of Eda and Kit!

For a debut novel, this was great. The premise was interesting, the magic system was intriguing (I loved the idea of making pacts with Demons) and the tension and banter was chefs kiss. Kit was everything I love in a sassy and snarky MMC. Some of his lines had me cracking up and then clutching my heart because that man is a yeaaaaarner. I loved the side characters in this too, Robin and Tripp were great additions and Tripp's utter disgust at just being in Eda's presence was too funny.

I'll definitely be continuing with book 2 when it is released because that last paragraph had my jaw on the floor!

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and I’m so grateful I got an arc of it!
