THE PERFECT LIE is a psychological thriller. This is über fast-paced because it is a short story...which is it's downfall. Because it rings in at 40ish pages, there's a lot left unsaid. That makes it hard to follow along---things moved at such a speed that it felt like things were missing. This is twisty though. Each short chapter dropped bombshell after bombshell. At times it was a bit much. I think if the author expanded on this, it would be good. Maybe even great.

This was quite a twisted story involving identical twin brothers, the identical twin daughters of one of them and some shady underground dealings.

It jumps straight into the action as Ava, the wife of one of the brothers, receives some shocking news from a surprise visitor. Ava's twin daughters then take up the investigation into their father and uncle.

I found the plot a little hard to follow at times. It seemed to jump around quite a lot, sometimes without any clear connection between different chapters. Certain elements were a little far fetched.

I enjoyed the writing style, which was quite descriptive. It did occasionally become slightly too vague, which made it more difficult to keep hold of the thread of the story.

The ending had quite a big twist. Overall, a decent short story and one that didn't need to be expanded any further.

This is the second short read I have come across by this author and I am getting a feel for their writing, which is quirky and slightly whacky!

This short read was under 50 pages but it was honestly like a story inside a story inside a story. Everytime you thought you knew what was going on it would pivot again.

Go into it blind and read it for what it is would be my advice.

The pacing is quick, the ending was wild. Overall, a good little story to pass the time.

Summary: This is a short story. Its about family secrets, lies, deceptions and danger. A stranger shows up to Ava's door and completely changes her life forever. She finds that the life she's been living is a lie. She finds herself and the lives of her daughters at stake due to a family feud between twin brothers. The daughters start investigating their father and their uncle to find a way out of the mess. There is a big twist in the story because not everything is at it seems.
Thoughts: I think with it being a short story that parts were not fully developed and I understand that because there isn't a lot of space for a lot of backstory or narrative to fill in and connect everything. I still enjoyed the story and it was a quick read. Thank you for the complimentary copy of the story.

Ava who is a housewife appears to have the perfect lie. That is until a stranger shows up revealing family secrets. Ava starts to question everythigg she knows including her husband and children.

Kept me on my toes!

This was a decent, quick read. It kept my interest throughout, and the ending definitely caught me by surprise.

i mean thriller are really teaching us that we know no one and should not tryst anyone. and even those you think you can trust? well, try again buster. but i do love how cleverly thrillers an the authors that writes them lend those questions around everyone and everything. this book kept me on my toes for sure.
also the more i learn about privilege the more i very much dont want to know an it often hides the darkest corners.
the length of the book also lends for that high stakes feeling to it. i really admire authors who pull everything there needs to be into such short amount of pages. and in books like this you get the full story. and i dont know how that works because with full length books id always very much say there is no way it could be shortened to one of this length. i loved how because of the length of the book we weren't kept guessing and that the plot twists happened landed and then we'd get another. the reveals just peeled away and for this story i think that really worked.
