A witchy romance, with the focus in magic and emotions. Sage is hurting, a witch from her teens she used her magic and it all went wrong when she was younger and now hides it and pushes all tingles away. She works with her best friend who irritates her, as well as cares for her in equal measure - well perhaps more irritation! The magic creeps into the book, and the village, and slowly and then quickly takes over as houses become gingerbread houses, friends become princes and a bean stalk grows. As fairy tales take over, Sage has to decide if she will once more embrace her magic and her past hurts.

This is a cosy, whimsical story about Sage who is a witch who doesn't want to use her powers and finds her town trapped in various fairy tale stories.

I thought the premise for this book was a lot of fun, I really liked all the fairy tale elements and Sage was a great main character. I also really enjoyed her relationship with Cas and them working together to undo the curse. I would've liked a bit more from Sage's siblings, they were interesting side characters and it would've been nice to see them further developed.

Overall I loved this addition to the series, and would highly recommend as a cosy, autumnal read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I have read and enjoyed other books by the author and Disenchanted certainly didn't disappoint. From the very first page I was hooked and I kept reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. I enjoyed the story and I loved following the characters on their journeys through the story. Overall a brilliant novel that I highly recommend to other readers.

I slip into these books so easily and each one brings its own special element. Sage is in rebuttal against her magic and she is eager for it to not only be strictly controlled, but she wants it gone. She hates the unpredictability and lives in fear of loosing control and causing harm. She’s determined and an easy character to get behind.

That and with the romance element with Cal, I was well invested and loved the magical fairytale spin running throughout.

Where do I even start with Disenchanted? ✨🖤

Lucy Jane Wood has such a magical way of writing, and I was completely pulled into this world from the very beginning. It had the perfect mix of cosy magic, mystery, found family, and just enough emotion to keep me completely hooked.

The characters felt so real, and I loved watching everything unfold. There were moments that made me smile, moments that broke my heart a little, and plenty of moments where I just needed to know what was going to happen next.

This felt different from the fantasy books I usually pick up, and honestly, I loved that. It was enchanting, comforting, and quietly powerful all at the same time.

This was everything I wanted from a cosy fantasy and more.

From the moment I started reading, I was completely charmed by the magical small-town setting, the quirky characters and the fairy tale twists woven throughout the story. It felt cosy and whimsical, but underneath it all was a heartfelt story about grief, healing and finally accepting who you are.

Sage was such an easy character to root for. She wants nothing to do with magic after everything it’s taken from her, so watching her slowly embrace the very thing she’s spent years trying to escape was such a rewarding journey. She felt real, relatable and wonderfully imperfect.

And Casimir? I adored him. The slow-burn romance was so sweet, full of longing, quiet moments and undeniable chemistry that had me smiling the whole way through. Their relationship developed so naturally, making every moment between them even more satisfying.

The magical chaos was so much fun. Fairy tales spilling into the real world, a giant beanstalk appearing in the garden, curses, ancient books and talking about happily-ever-afters in a completely fresh way made this impossible to put down. Every chapter had something new to discover, and I loved how the mystery unfolded alongside the romance.

If you’re looking for a cosy fantasy with witches, fairy tale magic, found family, a lovable cat, a gorgeous slow-burn romance and a story that leaves you feeling warm long after you’ve finished, this is one you absolutely need to pick up.

I closed this book with the biggest smile on my face and already wish I could experience its magic for the first time all over again.

In recent years, I have enjoyed many wonderful cozy fantasy novels and amongst the best of these have been Rewitchedabd Uncharmed by Lucy Jane Wood. The third novel in this Selcouth series is Disenchanted. Now, while all novels are set in the same universe, each can be treated as a standalone- though I would recommend reading all three for the pure enjoyment of the storylines.
Disenchanted is the tale of Sage Hemlock (a delightfully witchy name), a witch who is decidely disenchanted with the very notion of being a witch and trying to deny her powers. However, life goes a bit awry and suddenly fairy tales are coming to life in her home town. Now, I always thought that living in a fairy tale would be idyllic. Unfortunately this proves not to be the case for Sage and soon she is battling to save the lives of her friends and the village.
Along with being a witchy story, there are plenty of comedic moments and of course, the slow-burn romance is great fun.

Lucy Jane Wood delivers again with a cosy fantasy about modern witches, this time with a fun fairytale twist!

I will not lie, I didn’t love the main character in this one, but I also didn’t dislike her enough for it to detract from my enjoyment of the book. It was just enough for me to wonder exactly what the MMC sees in her, because a decade of pining for somebody so pessimistic and closed off is a long time. Their romance was still sweet though, and I was rooting for them by the end.

You don’t really see characters from the previous books in this one, so if you picked it up as a standalone you would do absolutely fine, which is GREAT because I forgot pretty much everything that happened in the first two books. I never felt lost, and it made returning to this world really easy.

It doesn’t scream autumn other than being set around Halloween, but it absolutely screams cosy, which is what I am here for. If you enjoy warm, witchy reads with a touch of fairytale magic, this is another lovely addition to Lucy Jane Wood’s growing collection.

Lucy Jane Wood has outdone herself with book 3. I really loved the subtle nods to the previous 2 books which nicely tied them together

The use of fairytales to tell Sages story and guide her adventures through out the book were absolutely brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable. The perfect mix of light and dark moment throughout the novel which kept me wanting to read more.

It was still a cosy witchy autumn read but the added darkness from the villain added a lot of dimension.

I very much hope that we get many more Selcouth books in the future.

I loved the relationships between everyone and especially loved mal the cheeky cat 🐈 Sage did get a little bit frustrating at times but you can understand how she was feeling and why she was a bit closed off. Cas was perfect, cheeky and I loved the banter and communication between him and sage.
This book was perfect, I didn’t want it to end and I could have quite happily carried on reading.

4.5 stars rounded up because I had a great time with this book!

This being said, I feel like I should start with the potential surprise regarding this book. Despite it being a cozy fantasy, with witches and magic, the plot line is a lot more about self-acceptance and self-love, than it is about romance. And it does feel a little dragging but it’s all part of the process.

This is one of the slowest burns I’ve ever read about, because the romance felt slightly as an afterthought, which worked perfectly for me. However, I don’t think it’ll work for someone wishing to read a cozy fantasy with clearly developing romance.

Now to the point where I speak about how much I love the book! We have Sage, our smart reluctant witch that is a control freak, grieving and almost hating her magic, because she doesn’t want to have anything to do with it. Sage is the definition of someone being a little too smart, realistic, and pessimistic all at once. Her stubbornness until the end, is the reason, it might make some readers feel like it drags. But considering her ideals, thoughts and fears, adding the fact that she always thinks she’s right, it makes sense for her to be that stubborn and I like how after everything, she started seeing what everyone has been telling her. And in the end, she is loved. Very much so, if you ask me.

Casimir, the love interest, is her most supportive best friend through it all. He is there for her, supports her, and truth to be told I appreciated him a lot as the best friend, who clearly is fond of Sage, but he accepts her fully with all her quirks and stubbornness, and even her magic.

Their dynamic was so refreshing, because we could see the strong fondness and yearning, including the unspoken love between them, but they were friends first while dealing with everything before they finally took a deep breath in once everything was over, and became something more. Although, if you ask me they have already been something more anyways, they had just never spoken about it.

I really enjoyed this book a lot! And i strongly believe this one will be the perfect autumn read with a warm drink.

There are some books that feel like stories, and then there are books that feel like a warm autumn afternoon. Disenchanted was very much the latter for me.

This is a standalone novel set in the same universe as Rewitched and Uncharmed.

It follows Sage (FMC), a reluctant witch who has spent years trying to leave magic behind after the pain it has caused her. She has built herself a quiet life around her work at the local museum, history, books and her ginger cat…

Until a mysterious book arrives and unleashes an ancient curse, causing fairy-tale magic to begin creeping into everyday life. Magical mishaps start happening all over town, and Sage is left to confront herself (and her own magic, of course).

Sage is clever, stubborn, practical and wonderfully pessimistic, but beneath all of that is someone grieving and struggling to accept a part of herself she would rather forget. I loved her!

And, of course, we have Casimir (MMC). It was impossible not to like him. He is Sage’s best friend before anything else, and the romance is very much a slow burn. Their affection and quiet yearning were incredibly sweet, and I loved that their relationship never overshadowed Sage’s own journey.

My only real criticism is that the mystery felt somewhat predictable, and Sage’s stubbornness occasionally made the story feel slower than necessary.

Ultimately, the emotional journey and atmosphere worked for me either way. Lucy’s descriptive writing also did a wonderful job of transporting me straight into the novel and making the setting feel wonderfully cosy and magical.

Overall, this book is nearly-perfect. Making it less about defeating some grand villain and more about learning to stop running from yourself.

So, if you’re looking for cosy fantasy with autumn vibes, fairy-tale magic, found family, a gentle slow-burn romance and a whole lot of heart, this is absolutely worth picking up.

Firstly I feel very honoured to be given the chance by NetGalley and Pan Macmillan to review the new Lucy Jane Wood. I loved both Rewitched and Uncharmed, so I came to this book with high expectations. I was not disappointed.

Disenchanted is set in the same universe as the first two books, but is a standalone. It tells the story of Sage, a reluctant witch, who would gladly give her powers away just as her heroine Lilara Mournfell did in the past. However as her story unfolds unexpected things start happening to the town around her, and life takes on a more fairytale like quality.

This was the most cosy of cosy reads, I loved the fictional town of Port Sylvan and I think Sage is my favourite heroine of all of the books so far. Other great characters in my opinion were Mal the cat, and Maggie.

As well as many funny moments, there were also tender moments in the story, which really made me feel connected to Sage.

This is the perfect autumnal read. For fans of Practical Magic, Once upon a Time, and anything witchy.

This is definitely my favourite book in this series so far! I absolutely loved the cosy, fairy-tale atmosphere, with its gorgeous mix of storybook magic and a slightly darker edge.

I really enjoyed Sage’s story as she tries to suppress her magical abilities, only to accidentally unleash a curse that threatens the whole town. The little nods to the previous books were a lovely touch too, giving that sense of familiarity and connection while still allowing Sage’s story to stand on its own.

The gentle friends-to-lovers romance between Sage and Casimir was really sweet and never overshadowed the magical storyline.

Cosy, enchanting and full of wonderful characters, I loved being back in this world. Lucy’s books just keep getting better and better.

Lucy’s books are like a hug. As someone who followed her on youtube for years, I am amazed at how talented of a writer she is.
This might be my favourite of her so far!

I love first two books and I fell in love with this book. It’s cosy and magical in a small town life. I truly feel immersed in the story and loved feeling I was in the book walking along with the characters. A beautiful cosy autumnal book that every needs to read

Lucy Jane Wood just knows how to write books that make me want to curl up under a blanket with a hot drink.

This is definitely the most fairy tale-inspired of her books, and I loved how those classic stories were woven into the magic. The atmosphere was exactly what I want from a cosy fantasy, full of autumn vibes, whimsical magic and a town I'd happily spend far more time in.

One thing I think is worth knowing before going in is that this isn't really a romance-first story. The relationship between Sage and Casimir is very much a subplot, and it's an incredibly slow friends-to-lovers burn. Their relationship felt natural because they were already each other's safe place long before anything romantic happened.

The real heart of the book is Sage's journey. She's a much pricklier protagonist than you usually find in cosy fantasy, and it took me a little while to warm to her. She's carrying so much guilt and fear that she pushes everyone away, but as her backstory unfolds her actions make so much more sense. Watching her slowly learn to accept herself was far more satisfying than any romance could have been.

The pacing was my biggest issue. It takes quite a while to get going, and I did think some of the middle dragged a little before everything came together at the end. I also would have loved a bit more payoff after all the build-up.

Overall however, I still had such a lovely time with this. The fairy tale magic was creative, the side characters were charming, and the whole book felt warm, comforting and quietly hopeful. If you're looking for a cosy fantasy that's more about healing and learning to embrace yourself than sweeping romance, I think this will be a perfect autumn read.

Loved this book, I loved the character of Sage I found her really relatable. It made me feel autumnal. Honestly cute cosy with a talking cat and magical mischief. It gave me 90s Sabrina the teenage witch vibes. Highly recommend.

I would like to start off by thanking the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book. I have enjoyed a Lucy Jane Wood book previously (Rewitched), so I had high hopes for this one.

The author's writing style was engaging and full of whimsy. There were some poignant moments that gave me pause for thought. The book certainly took me on an interesting journey and left me feeling warm and content.

The chapters were fairly long, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the story before moving on. Each chapter had an intriguing title that gave us a hint as to what we were going to read about next.

There was a good flow to the book and I quite happily sat and read it for long periods of time.

There was a good pace, with plenty of things happening, yet purposely slowed down by wonderful descriptions that brought the fairy tale magic and whimsy surrounding the action to life.

The characters were great. I loved following the main character on her journey. I think that we could all learn something from it.

The surrounding characters were also a joy to read about, with a mix of personalities that made for an interesting read.

Lastly the settings. There were so many exquisite details that brought the story to life. The magic, joy and whimsy oozed out and made this an excellent read.

Overall a truly magical read that any cosy fantasy fan would enjoy.

I have so much love for this series! This may even be my favourite so far!

Whilst all of the books contain magic, this one felt... As though it was overflowing with magic and whimsy and was just really fun. It's absolutely bursting with fairy tale wonder whilst also poking fun at some of the more silly bits and really making you consider some of the more sinister aspects, questioning the good, the bad and the trustworthy.

Sage is such a great main character because she's not typically a character that I'd enjoy reading. However, the way her story is written and the way her trauma is explained makes her journey way more compelling.

Casimir is an absolute sweetheart and I absolutely love their relationship ❤️
