Live for Me was an emotional and thought-provoking read that explores love, family, sacrifice, and what it truly means to live for yourself and the people you love. Nkem's storytelling pulled me in from the very beginning, and the characters felt authentic and deeply human.
This book had moments that made me pause and reflect, and I found myself rooting for the characters as they navigated difficult choices and personal growth. It's a heartfelt story that stays with you long after you turn the last page.

I did not expect the incredible level of depth and beauty this story delivered. The book explores heavy themes like mental health and depression, but it is executed in a way that is not too heavy. It completely grips you and keeps pulling you back in. Even when I wasn't reading it, the story was just marinating at the back of my mind.
We follow Nkem, a married mother who reaches a devastating crisis point of despair, locking herself in her closet and contemplating suicide. Her depression, stemming from unresolved childhood trauma, makes her refuse hope and treatment for a long time. The way the author handles her journey is so poignant and eye-opening.

While the story is beautifully told from multiple perspectives, my one wish was that we got to see even more of the husband’s POV. Chima is the absolute champion of this story and deserves the "Husband of the Year" award! He is the epitome of love and patience. I love that the author didn't make him perfect—yes, he had his flaws and makes mistakes—but the fact that he never gave up on Nkem and went the extra mile to help her out of her depression shows how deeply he loved her. Truly, every Nkem needs a Chima in their life!
The author also did a phenomenal job showing how a parent's mental health struggles and actions directly influence and affect their children's reactions.

The writing style is an absolute chef's kiss and so flawless that I legit don't think I spotted a single error! I also deeply appreciated the ending because it did not tie everything up in a pretty, neat little bow. It tackled the messy reality that forgiveness is a process, and sometimes people are simply not willing to accept or contemplate reconciliation.

This is easily a 5-star read that will stay with me for a very long time. It taught me so much about mental health awareness, reminding us that people go through unseen battles, so we should never be hasty to judge. We should always try to be understanding and strive to be the reason for another person's betterment. Every single person should read this book!

Live For Me, Nkem does a great job showcasing the realities of mental illness and how it can affect not only your everyday life, but also the lives of those close to you. In this book, we get a look at the intricacies of the Nigerian family and how Nkem and her family navigate life with her depression. I thought the book was an overall a great read. The character development was great, with the mixing of multiple point of views, which helped bring empathy for Nkem’s situation. The writing was simple and straightforward and the story flowed well. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for heartwarming story of love and resilience.
