So when her childhood bully drowns in sewage, Gwen's quietly satisfied. But then another foe dies. And another. Soon, everyone who's ever crossed Gwen - from sworn enemies to obnoxious strangers - is meeting a bizarre end.

The police think Gwen's involved, but she's terrified. Someone's turning her private grudges into a murder spree, and if Gwen doesn't stop them, her newly rebellious daughter could be next . . .

WOW! Where do I begin with this book? The Best Of Enemies has the best leading character that is relatable. Humorous, thrilling and mysterious, this book has it all. Gwendolyn Rice gets a text to say her worst enemy at school had died. Liz made her life hell at school and had zero friends. Now a single parent, she tries to avoid the Yoga, gossiping, matcha drinking mums and preferring the dark roast coffee and distressed wooden tables, across the road from them. Gwen has a list of how she wants people who annoy her to die. Then the people on the list start being killed. Her hormonal teenager Raven exacerbates the situation with not wanting much conversation with Gwen but accepting vegan sausage rolls and hot chocolates as peace offerings. Who is killing the people on Gwens list? This book is enthralling. Gwen is one of my favourite characters in a book.

A brilliant and unique premise that immediately hooked me and kept me guessing throughout.
What I enjoyed most was Gwen herself. She's a flawed but relatable protagonist who doesn't actually want anyone dead from her list and I loved her embroidery.
The story balances suspense with dark humour, and each death raises the stakes.
The pacing is fast, with plenty of twists that kept me turning the pages.
Overall, this is an entertaining psychological thriller that's perfect for readers who enjoy dark humour, and mysteries that keep you second-guessing until the end.

This is a brilliant book ,the concept is one of the most original thriller premises of the year and has the potential to be an outstanding psychological thriller. Gwen keeps a private list of everyone who has ever wronged her but when those people begin dying in increasingly bizarre ways the Police suspect Gwen .The stakes become personal when her rebellious daughter may be the next target .Fast paced I loved this book can't wait for the next one .Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC

I love Julie's books and this one was very, very fun, and I devoured it in every spare moment I had!

Gwen was a great character - a sweary, creative single mum, and I was caught up in her story right from the start. Who on earth was killing off her enemies one by one, and how on earth did they know about her list?! There are lots of layers to the story, and whilst it's smart and funny, the story also says a lot about family relationships (especially parenting), childhood trauma, friendships and love. The final grand reveal was great - with everything tumbling out in a hugely dramatic way!
