Description

Two families, separate species, on a collision course in the Pacific Northwest wilderness.

Among pines and white waters live creatures of ages past.

Once, the forests were ripe with fruit and meat, and two apex apes shared the land—one antlered, the other not. Then man harvested too much, hunted too hard. Violence ensued. Following their defeat, the apes’ antlers fell. A reminder of their demise in the shadow of man.

Now, a raven and hare witness the birth of a creature all believed extinct—one whose skull bears a peculiar shape.

Eve, her little brother, father, and grandfather embark on horseback to hunt the wilds. Their adventure soon devolves into harrowing, primitive survival—strange landscape drawing them closer to an encounter ten thousand years in the making.

Though these families harbor neither hatred nor ill will toward one another, winter is hard and resources scarce.

And all creatures must protect their own.

———

The Antlered Ape is a creature feature told as much through the creatures' eyes as through the humans'. It explores the hazy line between man and nature from multiple perspectives, blending elements of grounded fantasy, adventure, and suspense flirting with horror.
